There are hair spray that come in a plastic pump bottle.
With that one you can remove the sprayer and use the hair spray as you would paint and apply exactly where you want.
I switched to the pump bottle in like the 80s.

Instead of using a silicone mat, try a piece of no-wax butcher paper. You can get them in white and resin peels off of it easily. It’s very thin so will conform to the shape of whatever supports it so there’s the possibility of making gentle profiles or textures on the bottom. I haven’t personally tested it for UV light pass though but it’s so thin that I doubt it would have any trouble penetrating and curing bottom ant top at the same time if you have that capability. EDIT: I posted this without testing it first. The butcher paper is a great replacement for silicone mat when used to protect from spills etc, but the mica does not stick to the butcher paper as well as it does to silicone. The butcher paper also leaves a slightly matte finish. This makes it less effective for this technique since your end product will have a lesser effect and a matte finish. Daniel, let me know if you prefer this post to stay for information purposes or just be removed. In the future, I’ll test before posting.

@@fraudbuster1456 I don't think your post should be removed personally. You are throwing ideas out there, perhaps the end result you got was exactly what somebody was looking for or sparks another idea with different material... I love your post though. I'm always trying to discover new things to try out and I'm still so very new to the resin world so I'm totally down for inspiration. I think most people are of they're watching his videos anyways. But, love your idea still!!! 😊

You're right Daniel this would take hours using the raindrop technique but your method is deffo better as if you did do tiny tiny specs the raindrop way, I reckon no matter how careful you are when you brush on your powders or flakes you WILL inevitably also wipe off the tiniest resin drops, in fact I think you would lose a lot of them which would be so frustrating if you've just spent hours putting them all on.... Oh, this is just *SO COOL,* Daniel! Yes, I see...just bring the spray to the "spit stage". WOW! That last heart cabo....just beautiful!
That makes sense that the epoxy would bond with the hairspray, just like it did with the skull inlay. 👍

Amazing! Love your videos and I don't mind where the hairspray was still tacky when you added the colors. I thought it gave it a moonscape texture. Love your ideas❤

Very awesome! You could draw lines to make swirls in your hairspray before it dries to make some designs or initials, but I think the initials would have to be backwards? Endless huh? Or, mask out some design then spray the hairspray.
