I loved that Shuri was visited by kilmonger instead of giving her a peaceful scene it made her feel much more human making her have to choose mercy over revenge
LOL, I get the sentiment, but realistically it was a patch over to Disney not pulling their usual shit and having her speak with T'challa using a body double and voice clips.
Agreed. OF COURSE she couldn't talk to t'challa because of Chadwick's passing. They easily could have made her see her mother OR what i thought was going to happen was see her mother and father together in the afterlife. She would see that even though a terrible thing happened to her mother, ramonda got to be with her husband again. It also would've shed some insight on how t'chaka interacted with his wife and daughter because we only really see him with t'challa at the signing of the accords. I don't know how predictable others thought of her seeing Kilmonger but it wasn't even a thought for me, I thought we wouldn't see him again.
@@MCDJEntertainment Ramonda would have just said the same stuff she’d been saying the rest of the movie. It wouldn’t have added anything new to the story unless they changed her outlook suddenly, which wouldn’t make any sense.
No one talk about this but I LOVE how they used naymors flight. Like he doesn't just zip around like superman, it looks like he's almost skating through the air
I still get chills remembering Namor telling Shuri "You're Queen now." Then leaving. Cuz that was awesome and intimidating in the best way for a villian
I absolutely loved the bridge fight scene. The lack of score and zero jokes made it so tense and actually felt like something could go wrong. We need more of these fights in the MCU.
Shurri's dark streak made sense to me. In the first movie, she was cocky, arrogant, mocked traditions and she had full faith in her science. Her not being able to save T'Challa with her intelligence broke her. Made perfect sense for her to be straight murder eyes when her last connection to her family tradition was killed by Namor, Which is WAY more traditional than her family ever was and had to take the good from her tradition as well as science to show her worth and beat Namor with both the black panther mantle and her creating plans and weapons using her science.
It’s a cool nod to the books. In the comics Shuri sent a death squad to Atlantis and they killed everyone in the capital city. She’s brutal af in the comics.
The dark streak made sense in concept but I think they needed to SHOW it more. They kept saying she had one but I would’ve liked seeing signs of her internalized anger more. Like remember how visibly pissed T’Challa was for T’Chaka across 2 movies? I think if we saw Shuri struggling to contain her anger at the world more that would’ve made her short vengeance plot more compelling and her 180 back to peaceful all the more beautiful to watch
I wished there was more of M’Baku in this. I loved seeing him act as Shuri’s advisor. Especially in the previous film where he was antagonistic towards Shuri for her faith in science and technology.
Agreed. He really seemed to have matured from his spiteful isolationist Jabari leader self while also bringing a more practical voice to the Council, and you could tell he had great respect for T'Challa even though he let Zemo live. He seemed to get humbled by his brief encounter with Namor and him taking time to talk to Shuri alone after Ramonda's funeral to give her advice and guidance was an excellent little scene showing his wisdom as a leader among his people, as well as showing his respect for her intelligence and faith that she may be able to become the Black Panther
He was antagonistic towards her because she disrespected their traditions and developed advanced weapons she was arguably too young to really understand the gravity of, not because she "has faith in technology."
Hats off to Ryan Coogler who had to rewrite the script within few months before production started while grieving for a close friend he lost. Making an epic superhero movie that's also about the characters going through grief and paying tribute to Chadwick Boseman while introducing a new compelling villain and the world of Talokan all within one movie.
@@anactualapple8549 I don’t really count Kang since he’s the villain that the multiverse saga is based around. I’m talking about villains that are introduced in a movie where it seems like they could continue to be a threat in the future and had a great actor, like Christian Bale, and they just kill them
I dont think he’s really a “threat” tho. He says it himself, he knows that Wakanda has no allies except for him, and from his perspective, the world will eventually turn against Wakanda out of fear. It’s only a matter of time before the Wakandans see things his way. And I mean… he’s kinda right! Already in the movie, we see the US begin planning an invasion of Wakanda.
i agree, the tone was just spot on. Maybe if thor came out after wakanda forever, people wouldn't have been so harsh on it. Its so good to finally have a more serious movie after a wash of silly toned stuff
The scene with Ramonda and Okoye after the bridge stuff was probably my favorite scene in all of the MCU. I’ve never thought how Ramonda felt through all of the events in both movies and the actress conveyed those feelings so perfectly.
Okoye's whole world shattering as she gets screamed at for her failure was brilliantly acted. She's always been an exceptional warrior and for Ramonda to fucking blast her for standing by while Killmonger bested T'Challa in ritual combat, killed Zuri, took the throne, burned the Heart-Shaped Herb supply which led to T'Challa's unavoidable death & the repeated attacks on Wakandan outreach hubs in attempt to steal Vibranium, the radicalisation of the Border Tribe that got HER OWN HUSBAND EXILED, and then taking Shuri on a dangerous mission that ended in disaster with her possibly being executed, Damn. The pain in her eyes as she realised just how much resentment Ramonda harbours for her at that moment while she has done nothing but show unwavering loyalty to her duties as Dora Milaje and the Throne was brutal.
@@MoonlightBrillance same, I could understand where both of them were coming from, and honestly while Okoye did mess up I can’t really hate her as she did her best.
@@MoonlightBrillance Yea, like Okoye had no chance of keeping Shuri safe. . . but she was the one who insisted Shuri go in the first place at all. Ramonda stripping her of her rank as general was honestly totally fair, and her bringing up that they turned against her with Killmonger was a nice touch as well. Really showed that the resolution to that movie wasn't as neat as they made it seem
I was expecting something peaceful and comforting, like Shuri being able to hug her mom for the last time and when HE showed up, I straight up felt fear! It was so well done, I loved it so fucking much, it worked so well!!!
I really liked how it showed Shuri learning the same lesson as Tachala about how you can’t let vengeance consume you, but i feel like shuri was still able to take something different from it and not just being as forgiving.
Yeah. That's the problem with shuri in the ending. If your mom was killed by a person, you not gonna forgive them or spare them that easy. In civil war, if tony was not defeated by steve, he will murder bucky. But luckly its captain america movie, so yknow...
@@herdiansyah9982 I definitely see your point, but I didn’t really have a problem with the ending I thought it was fine that she didn’t kill him, I felt like she didnt really forgive him more just thought of her people and realized she didn’t want to go to war
@@charliehoffmann2726 but still shifting moral that quick is pretty lackluster, especially if the reason the movie being pg13. But yeah nobody will nitpick that hard since this is disney product 101
I got the impression that Shuri's darker side didn't emerge until she lost the rest of her family. Losing her brother was bad enough but for her mother to also be taken from her really pushed her to the edge. It really reminded me of the Joker's "One Bad Day" story.
Yeah, this is further realized with the conversation between Shuri and M'baku after she officially became Black Panther. Shuri basically tells M'baku that her heart died with her mother, and all that she wants from then on was vengeance. That really sold how truly angry and dark she became.
Yeah, so glad. Multiverse of Madness and Love & Thunder really had me worried they'd botch this movie too. Loved No Way Home, glad Wakanda Forever is sticking the landing, and I'm excited for GOTG3!!
Yeah, they had a dead man to respect and the black community to appease. I'm pretty sure if they ended phase 4 on a bad note, especially this movie...total shit show. Not that phase 4 has been that good tbh.
@@Crispifordthe3rd515 They literally can't f it up even if the movie was bad which it probably was if anyone was to say anything they'd just get called racist. Ofcourse black panther is gonna do well it's the biggest virtue signalling movie there is.
@@ikejohnshimbilinga5177 I would argue that there's not much virtue signaling...but it IS apparent that even if it was bad (I think it was just okay tbh) it would do well because of what it means. Like, last Black Panther was called the "most diverse movie ever" when it was 99% black people lol. It's not intentional virtue signaling, it's probably just the fans and my fellow black community.
@@Coolcoolcooldude This is the only MCU movie to make me almost tear up, because it literally deals with an IRL death of a great actor. It's almost Meta in a way.
The best thing they did was that they treated the ankle wings seriously. I was terrified that Marvel would be quippy about the wings and make fun of them and act like it was such a dumb, silly concept but they went full “this is a mutation just like his other abilities” and just treated the character with respect, wings and all. And thats such a rare occurrence in the MCU that I wasn’t expecting but completely appreciated.
This movie jus had a different energy, mostly due to Chadwick’s death. A lot of Phase 4 has had themes/elements of loss or fatigue and it doesn’t always hit but this one really nailed that tone and made me feel the emotions.
I think it's because this one let these powerful emotional moments sit with the audience without interrupting with a dumb joke, giving it a much better serious tone, while still having some solid jokes when appropriate.
I think that the main lead's actor dying forced the writers to improvise something and end up producing something more different to the standard MCU film, if that makes sense
What surprised me more about this movie is that they didn't even take the opportunity to CGI Chadwick Boseman's face in the movie, Like the one thing we all expected them to do and they didn't do that, I was shocked.
i was personally expecting a voice over, like a bodiless whisper from the beyond that pushes Shurii in the right direction. sort of happy and disappointed in equal measure they did not, which is probably for the better.
something that impressed me was how little crossover is in this movie! with how seemingly huge the fights are they somehow controlled their mcu urges and let the story be it’s own thing. there were only two references by name but I think they actually served the story and world building as opposed to “hey look its a character you know”
@@uchihabomber1296 which I think made it one of the best mid credit scenes of any marvel movie. It still set up some stuff for the future, but it was mainly just a really nice moment letting us know tchalla and Chadwicks legacy will be carried on

it honestly feels like a passion project in comparison to some. you can clearly tell that they wanted to make this movie to do all of the side characters and chadwick's legacy justice.
@@SomeGuy-mt4hq ^ this. His family wanted a recast too to keep the characters’ legacy alive. Instead Disney were like “naw he’s gonna get sick and die just like your son.”
@@SomeGuy-mt4hq Boseman's Brother said he would want the character to be recasted. Chadwick wanted to stay alive and keep doing the role. He was not hoping to have to die. And be recasted. But he would've likely accepted being replaced, posthumously.
@@SomeGuy-mt4hq sorry. Did I mention anything bout recasting? I mentioned how well the movie was made and how its main focus was to respect chadwick. They had multiple moments of silence throughout the film to pay respects to the legend who took on the iconic role without complaining once about his personal issues.
@Aaron Farrier they chose the best way to bring tachalla back into the mcu. Many fans didn't want him recast and many people still wanted to see tachalla. So they made him his son. Its a good balance between both sides.
I wasn’t a fan of black panther one but this movie slaps. Shurri had a compelling arc, namor was a great antagonist and provided a different perspective to kill monger. I thing riri has a lot of charm and I’m excited for her show. Also okoeye is in my top 5 mcu character’s
My biggest grievance came from the line where Shuri says "Life isn't like the movies" in response to her mother being worried about an AI takeover. Shuri. Were you in a coma in 2015? You know, when a whole ass city was raised into the air by an AI using a vibranium body.
@@TheEvilCheesecake I didn't have an issue with the line itself, which is where the lampshading lies. "Haha I said we aren't in a movie, but we actually are" wasn't the problem. The problem is that this thing explicitly has happened in this world, and it was world news. I don't mind them writing a joke for the audience. I do mind the fact that it characterizes Shuri as unaware of advancements in science and general world events. Another reason I would hope she knows about the Sokovia incident is because the signing of the Sokovia Accords is what led to her dad DYING IN A TERRORIST ATTACK! My issue isn't with the lampshading. It is with the plot hole.
@@Lemons28KZ Ultron happened before the Sokovia Accords and there’s a good chance Shuri spent most of her life in the lab. So she’s probably oh not keeping up with current events, especially if it’s outside of Wakanda.
@@suburbantimewaster9620 I feel like even if she wasn't actively watching the news, someone would have said something to her about the most advanced AI technology ever invented making itself a body out of pure vibranium and threatening humanity.
Black Panther is probably one of the only movies that can jab at the legacy of colonialism and how world powers perceive themselves relative to smaller nations. I loved the theme of intersectionality and shared generational trauma, as well as coping with individual trauma.
You guys are both right and wrong, the mayans and the mexicas worshipped similar gods by different names. For example the god of the underworld for the mexica was Mictlantecuhtli, and Xibalbá for the mayans.
@@TheFallOfNumenor14 Xibalbá wasn't a god, but the underworld itself that was ruled by 9 lords of death... Please get better sources for your Mesoamerican Mythology than just The Book of Life.
You reminded me, the scene where Namor strikes the glass with his spear and how The Queen just stands there Proud and unflinching, how Angela almost looks THROUGH him is fantastic. Love to see more of that in more modern films
i like how shuri pretty much speedruns tchalla's arcs in civil war and black panther. theyre still pretty different characters but them having similar lessons is nice for shuri
A pretty good point was made here, which was a surprise for me as well. They actually made Namor work in the movie, and I'm not gonna lie he was pretty badass at times. Seeing the final fight between him and Shuri was also tense and brutal. Adding more weight to Shuri's darker side.
After watching this movie with my dad, who’s really into the marvel theorizing part of the fan base, he point out that he expected more lore and cameos. I just was like “well they couldn’t. Imagine this beloved actor dying and they filled his movie with a bunch of fan service. People would either be more focused on that or pissed about how disrespectful it was”. This movie, despite all the crazy tech and such, had such a grounded story surrounding grief. I’m so glad it did
Coming from someone who lost their grandfather a week ago, this movie really hit hard. Watching these characters grieve really resonated. It meant a lot.
I was legit worried af, Namor was menacing. Watching him made me worry of what would happen to Wakanda. He will go down a legend in terms of antagonists in the MCU
SPOILERS I was so hyped when Killmonger showed up in that spirit world scene, the fanfare of seeing him onscreen again combined with the weight of Shuri's character being compared to him as a more vengeful character than T'Challa was really well-done for me. I was surprised my theatre didn't FLIP
I honestly liked the slow pace. It had the perfect amount of action for the type of movie this is. And this type of movie is a very serious dark toned emotional experience
The fact that one of my biggest gripes of this movie is just the way the new black panther suit looks is how i knew i enjoyed the film. Also i too never really thought they'd make Namor that amazing, but he genuinely was interesting. The repurposing of cultural legends with the serpent with wings into associating him gave me a visual i actually loved. Like you said hammering home the world building. I hope we get more Namor especially with the X-Men coming out soon. He is great
I really loved Okoye in this movie, she became even more of an interesting character through her ark, and was always entertaining to see on screen. I also really appreciate films taking their time to take us through environments and characters thoughts and feelings, this movie definitely benefited a lot from that despite some of the unneeded stuff. The addition of Mesoamerican cultures was done so well too, I knew nothing about Namor going into this and I'm already full on board with the character, his history, his people and Talokan, and I'm eager to see more. (Some of my favourite shots were in Talokan too, so good) Much respect to everyone who worked on this movie, it really seemed like they all really cared about the project, and it was such a nice tribute to Chadwick. A real heartfelt experience.
This does not change the fact that in Australia there are 48 million Kangaroos and in Uruguay there are 3,457,380 inhabitants. So if the Kangaroos decide to invade Uruguay, each Uruguayan will have to fight 14 kangaroos.
When my friends asked me what I thought I said it was really good considering it could have gone SO bad . The care they gave Chadwick/Tchalla was very good and was handled so well.
One thing I really liked was the small callbacks to the first movie with mirrored scenes & lines. It felt really natural in the story of grief to want to go back to the past with these little moments, and also helped to maintain the Wakandan views & culture. Shuri asking for Toussaint's Wakandan name at the end for him to deliver it in the same way Killmonger did just adds a nice little touch to the ways of the Wakandan people, as well as creates a nice paralled of the two characters, as young T'Challa will grow up much like Killmonger did, but with that connection to Wakanda to ensure he doesn't go down the dark isolationist path when he grows older. Other things like Shuri coming to the same realisation T'Challa did in Civil War but about herself and Namor was a strong moment of maturity the character still needed, realising that pursuit of vengeance is toxic & petty, and that acting on pure emotion is a bad thing as it removes the ability to think rationally and plan for the long term. M'Baku stepping up to offer his support for both Shuri emotionally & the nation as a whole was an excellent way to show his character growth from the first movie to Infinity War to now. You can tell that he had an immense respect for T'Challa and truly embraced the other tribes of the nation when offered to represent the Jabari in the Elder council. He has immense wisdom and shows his ability to think practically and clearly at all times, refuses to be intimidated by Ramonda and fearlessly chews out Okoye for being so overconfident in her ability as a Dora that Shuri got abducted by what Ramonda had described as a hostile entity with immense power. I have a few minor issues about the movie's pace overall being a little too slow in some places, and there were some questionable choices when it came to how dark some scenes were and the weird focus blurring around the lower edges of the screen on a massive amount of the movie (seriously, there were points where I couldn't make out half of the screen because of the poor lighting choices, mostly in Talokan & the underwater cave) but overall they don't impact the movie nearly as badly as the first movie's CGI did, except for the Wakanda skyline backgrounds in most scenes. They still can't make realistic looking background plates in these movies as they can never get the depth or lighting right, it always looks 2D and I really wish they'd use 3D environment modelling instead. Hell, go back to using matte paintings, I don't care, those still managed to capture a sense of scale and detail so brilliantly for decades. CGI backgrounds are the biggest eyesore in the whole MCU and it really sucks to be reminded every 2 minutes that most of the movie is being shot on Green/Blue screen. Civil War for example did great with most of the Airport stuff as it was actually filmed outside in real lighting with the green screens a realistic distance away from the camera. Then we transition to the fucking Quinjet hangar and it looks like a MASSIVE empty space inside because the backgrounds are way too big and detailed for realistic focus pull on the characters.
One of my big complaints (which is admittedly pretty small) is that Talokan never really _feels_ like Wakanda’s equal. Like, we’re told a bunch of times that Talokan has equal access to vibranium that Wakanda does, but we never see any cool technology from them. Their most impressive weapon is a grenade that explodes water. The rest of their armoury is like spears and shit but their spears don’t even shoot lasers.
But aren't they all technically on the same level because every one of Talokan's people are those descended from the ones who ingested the water equivalent of the heart shaped herb? Therefore, they mostly, if not all should have super strength, so technology is the least of their concerns.
We got Attuma! May be a small thing to some, but it was great to me! And that MBJ cameo was genius! Having Nakiya ask Shuri who she saw and her never revealing it made sense in the context of the movie! I just really enjoyed the movie a lot!
My favorite scene is definitely the invasion scene. The absolute surprise of it and the showcase of strength was incredible. I never guessed I’d actually like Namor, but he was so badass.
Definitely enjoyed this one more than the original Black Panther, I miss Chadwick Boseman but I think this was the best movie we could get with him gone. Namor was a beast! Love your videos bro, they inspire smaller channels like mine so much!
You know in the original script, there was a lot of fight scenes g black panther comparing to this but this was a smart move by coogler to show that shuri was inexperienced in battle but used her brain like the genius she is
I thought it was a great twist, making Shuri's character arc all the better. She never was the spiritual type, just needed/wanted the power and her vengeance. Of course (SPOILER CHARACTER) didn't show up.
Had almost no hype for this movie, now it's in my top 3 MCU movies. Mostly because it's a great movie and Namor being an absolute badass that I loved to hate... But having lost my big brother too, the way they handled grief hit home on a personal level that few movies have done better. Honestly a 10/10 for me.
Knowing that you're from florida, I really wish we would have met growing up. You remind me of so many of my friends, and I love your taste which is why anytime I see your videos pop up in my feed I immediately have to watch them. You are a gift my friend, don't ever stop being you, I know you know this but God damn thank you
This movie did kinda go hard, and I actually find it funny how it's some of the best Phase 4 content despite being entirely disconnected from every other thing they've made in Phase 4
I don’t think I’ll ever get over the silence of the ending. It was absolutely shattering. Nice to see Marvel can transcend pointless humour, and I really hope they take the success of this film and it’s serious tone forward. Accept that it’s ok for everything to not be funny and light all the time, you can explore deeper, darker subjects, like they used to in films like The Winter Soldier. Also nice to see a good villain survive.
@@niveinratnayake668Dr strange was entertaining but it was not a good movie. The writing really messed up Wanda's character arc, Strange didn't really develop or do anything significant, the story was all over the place etc. Shang chi was one of my favourites but apart from the action and Tong Leung, it was overall pretty average. Both movies were fun to watch but imo calling them the best may be too great a statement. no hate to your opinion btw
This was honestly the one movie in Phase 4 that I wanted to go see in theaters, and I really am glad I did (Although I was stuck having to listen to two people talk the entire time). Wakanda Forever was a really nice change of pace compared to what else we have gotten recently. I am really fatigued with the mcu atm, so im glad Phase 4 had a solid ending and I really hope phase 5 bumps things up a bit.
My only wish was that we got to see shuri darkside rise earlier. But then again the build up of her being insensitive to dark was very good. I just hope she continues to be twisted when it comes to her being dark and a hero since she isn’t as calm and humble like Tchala.
The world building *chef kiss* I actually loved the changes they did to Namor! He was close to comic counterpart dedicated to his people, charming, BA, and willing to do w/e is necessary to protect his people. Want to see more of him in the MCU
Im in the movie theater as we speak watching previews, I'll share my reaction to it once its over. Edit: Boy that movie was amazing its probably my favorite marvel movie, not for the typical reasons. The acting was amazing and a couple of the scenes i won't spoil for obvious reasons, but that one scene towards the end is in my Personal Top 10 it had one of my favorite actors doing a great job. Its my favorite Marvel movie cause hey i have a lot of celebrity crushes and a lot of them were in it looking stunning, shame ill never get a chance thats besides the point lol. For it to be freezing in that movie theater my eyes kept getting hot and sweaty so i had to wipe them a few times really strange. Angela motherfucking Bassett was beyond phenomenal she has some powerful scenes that had me shook. Im actually glad this movie was light on the comedy even tho the other people in the movie theater found everything super funny, nothing wrong with that but its a reason i caught an early show. If you were looking for an in depth comment about the whole movie probably need to watch the video lol. It was a few surprises i didn't see coming but just see the movie you won't be disappointed. I also found the various whales they were riding hilarious to see. Namor had a cold ass scene i wont spoil but seeing him fly and rise out the water had me in shock no matter how many times he did it. Movie was amazing go see it immediately.
My wife and I really enjoyed the movie; Namor was awesome, the action and music were great, and I also appreciated the time it took to develop the characters. You nailed it with your line about Angela Bassett though, she is such a national treasure. And this is kind of a hot take, I think Namor's throne is more badass than the Iron Throne.
Some people may say that Talocan doesn't seem like an advanced technology country, but personally? I don't mind that, there are so many places like that in movies nowadays (Atlantis, Wakanda, Madripoor, upcoming is Kang's city in Quantumania) that I kind of dig the idea that Talocan is more of a tribe than a glowing light country, it just feels more unique
Well I mean.. technology only really develops in order to solve problems and they are pretty isolated being completely hidden under the ocean with no natural predation or competition from any other civilizations.
Crazy, how the comedy moments in this movie were handled tastefully. Compared to most MCU movies. Especially M’baku, he had funny and serious moments. That didn’t feel forced or out of place. My favourite character in the movie.
This movie is arguably one of the best films in the entire MCU. Its so fucking good. The female cast is really great, and doesn't feel contrived. I don't agree with the run time. It honestly didn't feel like a 2+ hour movie. I agree with the white government dude subplot could have been cut. Shuri's arc is so great. Also, super important. THERE IS NO STUPID LINES IN THIS MOVIE!!!! No lines that made me sigh and roll my eyes like most marvel movies. Best MCU movie since Infinity war because even movies like Endgame and NWH have absolutely dogshit writing at times with stupid fucking lines. This movie is honestly better than the first by a long shot.
I love how much of a threat Namor was in clear ways. He's got centuries of ruling so his pride is stronger than iron PLUS there's the hate and paranoia of the surface world, so you can't just talk to him to win. As far as power, he and his minions could get to just about anyone as long as there is a waterway (which made me wonder why they didn't just get their target without Wakanda's notice anyway; maybe he just figured wanted the alliance because he wanted to strike the surface world no matter what). Killing him specifically won't necessarily end things because his people see him as a god and would probably keep fighting to the last man. And you can't even be sure that giving him what he wants will stop him from asking for more (and not taking your no for an answer). Even losing for him was seen as a long-term gambit for a more favorable position when Wakanda may need him. Namor isn't someone to mess with.
I would argue it still feels like a studio mandated film in every part that did not involve grieving for Chadwick / T'Challa. But yes when it is just friends mourning him, it hits home.
I started watching your reviews for a solid year and you're really good at explaining how you feel about a film. Your review on Wakanda forever is valid 🤘🏽
I liked the movie quite a lot. I really felt like they were able to perfectly tell the story they wanted to tell in it. Also, Angela Bassett going so hard in her role surprised me quite a bit lol, she was what stood out for me the most along with Namor!
I absolutely love the soundtrack of this film too, one of the few marvel films where I actually noticed it and was impressed. I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t get too much with Riri in the film but after seeing her in this film I’m much more hopeful about her series.
That's the same feeling I got too! Also the dark scenes were a little too hard to tell what was going on and needed more brightness because i hope people realize you can make a scene seem like its dark without it actually being too dark to see.. Overall I really liked the movie.
I couldn't believe they made Namor so cool, he's just a dude in a green speedo with weird ankle wings, but they actually gave him an interesting backstory and a really _cool_ look with the mesoamerican accessories
Agreed💯it feels like this movie is being harshly criticized. As if people went to the theaters just to look for reasons to hate it. I wish it had some more action and I don't like the Riri character but otherwise I loved it. Plus the soundtrack is damn near perfect
Yep pretty much how I view the film too. I just liked how it was so interesting, felt different and done well, for the most part. Plus I really liked how they portrayed Namor, that throne scene was just so bad ass as well as figuring out what that Talokan hand sign represented. That was my favorite part of the movie.
I don’t think Ryan Coogler and Marvel get enough credit for the presentation of Wakanda. It’s genuinely some of the best world and culture building I’ve ever seen.
Saw it on Saturday myself. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I don't think I could bring myself to watch it a second time (unless with friends at the theater). Many strong emotions with this one. Plot and characters are compelling, and the acting was fantastic (for the most part for both of those, Riri was a little wooden at times but that is ok :) glad to have her in the MCU now ). Angela Basset's performance especially was... phew. Just Wow. Breath-taking. She absolutely annihilated her role every second she was on screen; astounding actress and woman. Namor was an intriguing antagonist and I'm excited to see more of him in the future. (I can't believe they made Namor cool for once lol) I also enjoy how prominent the soundtrack was, the original tracks in particular were dammmn good! So uhhh yea, a solid and good entry to the MCU as a whole, IMHO.
Finally a positive review in the movie that isn’t shitting on the plot holes and actually respects what’s going on. This movie was incredible and I hate seeing all the negative reviews from UA-camrs like The Critical Drinker and Ryan K just shitting on it like it’s the worst movie in Phase 4. Phase 4 is mostly about grief and BP2:WF has done the best job at showing that.

I absolutely loved the bridge fight scene. The lack of score and zero jokes made it so tense and actually felt like something could go wrong. We need more of these fights in the MCU.

Same, probably my favorite scene in the movie
Is she blue?!?!
Very reminiscent of scenes out of The Wintet Soldier, except much more tense as we all knew Cap or Widow wouldn’t be put out of commission.
@@hunnerdayEDT holy shit

Agreed. I’m unsure what they could’ve cut, maybe the CIA or Riri Williams scenes/characters but there should’ve been more M’Baku.
He was antagonistic towards her because she disrespected their traditions and developed advanced weapons she was arguably too young to really understand the gravity of, not because she "has faith in technology."

I love watching a comic book movie that makes me want to kill myself.
She's always been an exceptional warrior and for Ramonda to fucking blast her for standing by while Killmonger bested T'Challa in ritual combat, killed Zuri, took the throne, burned the Heart-Shaped Herb supply which led to T'Challa's unavoidable death & the repeated attacks on Wakandan outreach hubs in attempt to steal Vibranium, the radicalisation of the Border Tribe that got HER OWN HUSBAND EXILED, and then taking Shuri on a dangerous mission that ended in disaster with her possibly being executed,
Damn. The pain in her eyes as she realised just how much resentment Ramonda harbours for her at that moment while she has done nothing but show unwavering loyalty to her duties as Dora Milaje and the Throne was brutal.
I really like how both sides points were understandable too. I felt bad for them both.

Exactly. You feel the passion from the actors because they really did lose a friend.
The theme of phase 4 + no way home definitely has been loss/grief. Very interesting to see different takes on that by the films.
I think that the main lead's actor dying forced the writers to improvise something and end up producing something more different to the standard MCU film, if that makes sense
What surprised me more about this movie is that they didn't even take the opportunity to CGI Chadwick Boseman's face in the movie,

something that impressed me was how little crossover is in this movie! with how seemingly huge the fights are they somehow controlled their mcu urges and let the story be it’s own thing. there were only two references by name but I think they actually served the story and world building as opposed to “hey look its a character you know”

Who ever reverse-engineered Namor coming from “sin amor” deserves all the money. What an absolute writing feat
Agree. I absolutely loved that!

Accept that it’s ok for everything to not be funny and light all the time, you can explore deeper, darker subjects, like they used to in films like The Winter Soldier. Also nice to see a good villain survive.
This, No Way Home, & Wandavision are the highlights of Phase 4, the focus on character/emotion/depth always wins
I agree
Nah loki, moon knight and wandavision was best from shows.
Shang chi, nwh, Dr strange and this was the best movies
That final campfire scene was one of the most beautiful scenes ever
Phase 4 really is the definition of hit or miss. Cause the ones that hit are great. And the ones that miss really miss
They made nwh and this in the same phase as eternals and black widow💀💀💀💀, yeah high highs and low ass loes
Very generous. I hope the good feedback will give them more confidence to broaden their horizons more with the Marvel formula.
One thing I noticed is that the movie uses Music very well. It knows when to turn it on, when to turn it off, what music to use etc.
Riri and Nakia were seriously caked up so I’ll give it an 8/10
Im in the movie theater as we speak watching previews, I'll share my reaction to it once its over.
BET
You're just asking for some trolls to try and spoil it for you by posting this.
Hope to hear an update:)
no one cares for your reaction
@@afroartist1086 he won't be using his internet while he's watching the movie so he's safe
Angela basset probably gives my favorite mcu performance. She was completely unbelievable
Based on your review, this is the first MCU movie in a WHILE that I’m actually looking forward to seeing…
In a few months when it’s on Disney+.
January bby, 2 months they take
My favorite part was when Namor came out of the ocean and said, "Namor mister nice guy..."
Shuri having a change of heart in the last moment felt too rushed for me, but besides that I liked it well enough
That's the same feeling I got too! Also the dark scenes were a little too hard to tell what was going on and needed more brightness because i hope people realize you can make a scene seem like its dark without it actually being too dark to see.. Overall I really liked the movie.
Was it really a change of heart? She went from killing Namor for personal reasons to making a truths with him so her people don't suffer eternal war.
@@kriysixvector4552 Homie, you literally just described a change of heart. She changed her mind at the last moment.
@@kungfudenny577 oh.
I mean she stills hate him. It's just she knows what the consequences would be if she killed him.
I couldn't believe they made Namor so cool, he's just a dude in a green speedo with weird ankle wings, but they actually gave him an interesting backstory and a really _cool_ look with the mesoamerican accessories
Saw it absolutely faded. The chant scene was easily one of the hardest scenes in the MCU.
Agreed💯it feels like this movie is being harshly criticized. As if people went to the theaters just to look for reasons to hate it. I wish it had some more action and I don't like the Riri character but otherwise I loved it. Plus the soundtrack is damn near perfect
W cosmonaut havent watched the vid yet tho
(I can't believe they made Namor cool for once lol)
I also enjoy how prominent the soundtrack was, the original tracks in particular were dammmn good!
So uhhh yea, a solid and good entry to the MCU as a whole, IMHO.
Man, coming from Critical Drinker's review to this one is like whiplash
I love that it was more serious and emotional. Blew my mind fr. Also, music and editing top notch. Great filmmaking
