i love how much of a driver chris harris is and not just a journalist and talk host
I remember a time when Chris Harris told us that he wasn't a classic car guy. That it wasn't his world. I think we all know that ain't true anymore.
And I am the happier for it.
MyFabian94 : a 356 will do that to you
Yeah, I think to race them you can't LOVE them! You and I would not/could not push them that hard, because we respect them so much. We need guys like him who like them (but don't love them,) so we can see what they were made to do.
What a beautifully elegant cockpit.
EDIT: What a beautifully elegant slide at 2:33 !
+Mumbo Jumbo That seemed extremely dangerous didn't you think ?
+Mumbo Jumbo shuldn't you be watching Minecraft?? :)
He seemed like he had it under control, so I'd say no, unless you can't handle these situations. Keep in mind Chris isn't just affiliated with them because of his journalism skills. Just a tad too much oversteer, but nothing he can't handle.
+Mumbo Jumbo Just remember the whole dash is metal, not an airbag or cushioned surface anywhere, and the steering didn't collapse in an accident, it just went through your chest because there were no seatbelts to hold you in place. The police had to search for your body if you didn't get hung up going through the windshield. Yes, those were the good old days.
+Mumbo Jumbo Didn't seem like CH expected that one coming. You can see he opens the throttle a little bit before he looses it, my guess is that he was expecting grip there but he didn't find it. Great car control tapping the gas and the brakes. I'm pretty sure it was a nasty moment for him, just see the description of the video! But anyway, great skills saved the day!
Wow those were some massive steering wheel inputs.
Yeah, looks really dangerous lol.
+james grocott that's exactly what im looking at seems so sketchy lol
+james grocott This is a common racing method for 356. Because it's so light in the front through the corners, the engine wants to come around. So basically you steer back and forth a little more aggressively to keep keep control. The technique is called "sawing".
+james grocott Well its a massive steering wheel lol
Nice job, especially considering you were on what look like space savers.
+Alex Kersten yeah that thing is sketchy!!
Was it not an AMG on space savers that was one of the best cars ever?
+Alex Kersten Whats a space saver?
+Alex Kersten Oh look, the ignorant one from 2 Guys 1 -Cup- Car has arrived ;)
+Luke Mallory Thanks never heard that term here in US
One car reviewer who can actually drive competitively as well as drift. Nice one Chris.
I can't believe how much this reminds me of NFS Porsche Unleashed!! The 356 was so tail happy and they captured it perfectly in the game.
Great driving and epic slide at 2:33. Congrats for 2nd place.
I'm still playing that game today.
Farhan Ahmad Tajuddin Same here, mate. Same here. Its a golden classic!
+LongtailGT would love NFS Porsche Unleashed with modern graphics and minimal changes to physics. But even as is, it's one of the all time best racing games ever made!! Even just buying near wrecked cars, building them up and selling them for a profit to fund that 959 or GT2 or whatever you've wanted since you started playing..
Oh, and no nitrous please. I just hated it. =.='
+LongtailGT God I Ioved that game, really was what got me into cars and made me the die hard Porsche fan I am today. Can completely agree, the physics in NFS seemed spot on to what we saw.
That catch at 2:33! Proving again what good of a driver you are! Loving the video and especially the car.
This video combines two of my favorite Automotive entities, the Porsche 356 and Chris Harris. A win for everybody!
There's nothing I love seeing Chris Harris do more, than slide classic racecars around.
awsome driving man!that was Incredible. and what a beauty that porsche was!
I watched this yesterday on the goodwood channel and was blown away but this man's car control and sheer bravery. Chris you're a nutter in the very best sense of the word. Thanks for sharing this twice.
Very nice driving Chris. You really got the most out of this beautiful and rare car.
Unbelievable the amount of work he is having to do to keep that thing in shape. Really makes me appreciate what I drive today.
It's great to see these cars raced and not just for show. If you had the top end of the Jag you would have won easily.
I would love to drive a 356. It is one of my dream cars. If only I could drive it like you, Chris..
The way you constantly have to keep correcting it looks so fantastic. I love that about racing cars like that. Beautiful!
I could watch this back all day. Just listen to that engine. 👌
Chris is one helluva driver. I don't care that he's not doing more car reviews, this is a petrolhead's wet dream content - keep up the good work mate.
Real bottom clenching moment at 2:32. Great work, Chris. Good to see you driving this gorgeous classic Porsche fast.
Was watching this live, I have to say i was pleasantly surprised when i heard the name Chris Harris :) Great second place.
Well done sir! Thank you for sharing a wonderful car driven to the limit.
Chris feeding that steering like a rally driver. Chris please follow up with a commentary about this event and especially that 356...those skinny tires must of been a blast to be on.
Watching videos like this make me realise why I will probably never drift a press car on a public road. Superb car control.
+Dolphino Egglet Or Powerslide for that matter.
Wow absolutely wonderful driving!!!Keep it on Chris!
Awesome to watch these beautiful cars looking like new and great that they are still being used and raced. Well done Chris coming in a very well driven 2nd.
Goosebumps ! What an awesome clip ! Thanks so much for sharing this, very cool. Take care
Respect, MASSIVE respect, Chris you are a really good driver and ofcourse great journalist. Watching you fighting the steering wheel and constantly sliding in this porsche was almost too satisfying :)
Nuff Said , Top car, driver and bloke , we want more please.
This is way too awesome!!! I am super jealous right now!!!
IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL.
Some damn good driving Mr Harris as usual! Car control on point!!
Chris Harris and Porsche for the Win!!! He was really struggling with that old beautiful Porsche.
";-)
This race and this video are great, soooo great ! Nice job Chris
Lovely edit.., lovely race.., and what a lovely car. Well done lads...
CHRIS!! I miss your input. I'm hanging out for more! Come down under and smash out some laps at Albert Park in March (F1 Grand Prix) here in Melbourne! I can't wait for what you have in store! keep up the excellent videos mate. This channel is Always my number one go-to for my daily car fix. Cheers
Wow, fantastic racing! Very impressive driving. Just full throttle all over the place.
beautiful car and even nicer driving skill. Thumb up Mr Harris!
LOL 2:32...99% of us would've stuffed it into the wall ha-ha. Amazing driving as usual!
Great job, Chris! And what a car!
It's fantastic watching him drive.
I dread to think how much that motor cost, and sliding it around at high speed on ancient suspension is just another day in the office for Mr Harris. The guy's a hero.
Great video. The sound...
Rich Piana is my favourite natural source of Chris Harris
+Dominic Bradley Howz it hanging?
How did that shit even make its way here 😂😂😂
+Sheroze Mohammed Troll. How did your shit make it here? And which shit in particular did you have in mind? Mind? Sorry. You are just an effing moron.
+Ian Findlay Very true
+Dominic Bradley 5% dude, 5%!
What a race!!! Thanks!!
Superb cars, great racing with the cars moving about under control like that, love it.
I really just love the idea of racing cars that aren't the absolute cutting edge but are more about working with the car, sliding around a bit and having a lot of fun!!!!
these cars ares just phenomenal! as well chris harris is as ever brilliant!
Nicely done Chris 👍👍👍
Great driving Chris!
That was bonkers. Very well done.
Absolutely amazing driving skills Chris! There was some brown alert in that 2:33 recover? AMAZING.
Great job Chris, driving at the absolute limit of that car on those tires. Seriously applaud you Chris.
That was fantastic, wow the steering ratio looked scary haha. Like steering a bus!
and the 356 one of the most beautiful bodys ever
Wow, great driving! Congrats!
Awesome I've enjoyed this.
i love old cars.. so much movement in the chassis, thats what i call fun driving
goddamn I'm suddenly happy I stayed up until 3am
+ONEtimeiplayedguitar once it's 10:05 AM for me :D.. i'm happy i woke up early
Chris Harris can really drive... Love that Porsche.
THE SOUND...... OMG... glorious.
What a amazing video!
Chris Harris, auto journalist extraodinare and competent race driver! Huzzah!
Beautiful old cars, beautiful track, awesome driver. No grip skinny radials.
Proper no frills racing the way I like it. Superb
Well done Chris! That start was near perfect I would say! I guess there is nothing to do about the power/brake difference. Great driving.
You're an inspiration.
Using every bit of that track and driving at the very limit of the car's capabilities! Nice.
Well done Chris, great driving.
Great friving, excellent foodage, thanks!
Great edit Neil!
Good job Chris, it looks like a lot of fun
Lovely! Yeah you had to fight it there at 2:33 - gave me a scare! That Jag just had a bit more top end than you did... Amazing you get to do this sorta stuff mate! I'm honestly very jeally!!
Chris thats an awesome bit of driving I can see you driving the 356 at the Nurburgring :))))
Well done Chris!
1000x more fun than any F1, LM, WRC race !! Scary !! That's driving !!!
Beautiful car, congrats Chris
Stunning clip
Beautifully driven, good race.
Chris Harris + Goodwood = always the bridesmaid.
Great skills, as always
awesome race Chris, that Jag in front had you licked on the straights, but you did well to keep up initially in the corners.
beautiful
Beautifully driven. Love seeing you drive manly cars. (No offense to the badass beasts) But the skinny tire, old cars with zero assistance. THAT is where its at. Being able to take that beautiful 356 at her limit, lap after lap, right to the edge of the track is a skill most today dont grasp. Beautiful work...
looks like some serious fun. those are all great cars. i,d like to hear Chris,s take on that race and that car
holy moly, great save chris!!!
Chris, you lucky bas*. That 356!! Very nice job man. Just bring us another full review.
Nice driving Chris!👍
Amazing! Good skills
Full respect to this event... brings out so much character of what a automotive racing should be. TCS? ABS? NONE.
Nice driving dude, nice motor as well.
wonderfull driving. nicely done
2:32 It was hell of a brown moment there. Great driving Chris!
I bet the contact patch is smaller than a single rear tyre on a 911 GT3 . Good catch at 2.33 Chris, your body language just says' bloody hell' ! Awesome drive.
Love the additional paint at the l.front.
that Jag was blisteringly fast! Good job Chriss. We'll see you on Top gear.
Great drive Chris
I have no idea what happened at 2:35, but it looked proper scary...
Oversteer happened. My dad raced a 356 super throughout the 60s and always said if you made the mistake of lifting the throttle even the slightest bit once you were into a corner, get ready for the tail to come around.
Looked like a crest over the apex. The Jag wagged its tail too. Those are the best parts of cockpit cams- the steering corrections that we get to see.
ah ah nice slide @Chris Harris !! I expected the interior to be way less fancy for a racer ! like racing in a confortable saloon :)
Flinch every time he changed gear, but so nice to see these old beauts driven hard.
Well done! Very nice!
Excellent performance.
