the man with the crazy face made me so happy. im not sure why. the pureness of the competition, the joy you can see in his actions. i know your grin was also massive Mr. Harris; mine sure was.
@@jasonlongo6823 I once raced a Mercedes w124 220 16valve estate, against a volvo 945 turbodiesel, with a screwdriver tuned injection pump, and i lost...i dont think we even got up to 160kph before we had to brake ;´)
First time I've seen this side of David Coulthard. Had no idea he is so witty and funny, what a cool guy! If ever there could be one, he would make a great replacement for JC on Top Gear!
I absolutely love the fact that so many professionals respect Chris. So many cheesy and untalented journalists out there, but Chris nails it every time and that consistency gives him serious credibility. Go Chris!
That is almost [racing stuff aside] what my step-grandfather brought back from his '63 trip to Europe, and drove well into the 1990's. He served with the Marines in WW-1, and later, in 1941, he became a Drill Sargent for the US Army, as the Marines didn't accept recruits older than 40. Thus he was involved with both World Wars, yet only served in the first. His Mercedes was his pride and joy, and I was lucky enough to ride in it a good 20 times in the late 60's-early 70's as a kid. The Vertical Speedo/Tach was always fun to watch, and the seats were incredible. I can't say much of the handling, other than it made my dad's Fords seem, um, sluggish in corners. I would later find a similar ride in my parent's Volvo 240 DL, in the mid 70's..
Awesome vid again. Chris you are the best! I also like the fact that you're not on the tellie twice a week like some 'others'. Just continue to drip feed us with quality, unassuming, honest and utterly likeable productions.
I just love Chris Harris!! His videos are so cool and you really feel the passion running in his veines!! It was just awesome to meet him in person at Spa last month!!
Glad to see Chris Harris pound around the circut, even if David broke the car. You can do well with a under powered car, just look at what the original Mini accomplished back in the 60's. I hope to see more of this duo soon. Thanks.
My Grand Dad bought one new. He took delivery at the factory. Then spent a Month long touring vacation. M B then shipped it to the New Jersey docks in the USA in 1965. I was 8 years old at the time. Great trip down Memory Lane!!
Even though the car was crap and Chris was the slowest I really enjoyed this video. Chris and David seemed to get on very well and lets face it David is a funny guy, sence of humour is spot on. Nice one Drive
DC is an absolute class act .. and always has been. Great to see 2 of my faves together. Wouldn't it be great to see the Monkey and DC on Top Gear ... hmmmm .. My fave 'Chris Harris on cars' vid without doubt.
David Coulthard is probably one of the best people around racing. RB respects him and calls him to drive on their events, Mercedes as well, all in all no one ever said bad word about him :)
Hehehe! Great car and drivers, plus this could be a great series "Classic Ring Laps" or something. But even if that's a no go, at least I now know I don't want a Lotus Elise. I want a Fintail Merc
It is so cool to see the old girl "at speed". I grew up in a 220. I remember my father taking the long, slow climbs up Highway 17 from Santa Cruz followed by chaotic down hill run to San Jose with my father's constant stating the cars brakes were overheating. The end of your video was predictable, as our baby blue '65 220 broke several times over the years.
It may have been a slow pace but what an amazing opportunity. Lap the 'Ring in an old Merc... The next time I go to Sweden I will definitely be spending a few days traveling to see this amazing and iconic track!
What an amazing experience. Extremely jealous of that experience even though it was in a car with less power to weight than a turtle. David is a champion guy, fantastic driver, i hope to see another video with you two. Do the ring in a 911 :)
I like DC but always thought he seemed a bit up tight. This video has changed my mind! Awesome pairing of drivers. Definitely need to see round 2 in a faster car!
Reminds me of a friend's 190SL that I drove in 1967 from Chapel Hill over to Danville, VA, and back. Bog slow. No sweet spot on the cam. Vague steering and brakes. Not much fun, really.
Apart from the pure fear factor of up to a 100mph speed difference, looked like it would be a real hoot! I was thinking perhaps one of the historic AMG 300SEL 6.8 (based on 6.3) factory race cars, next time, but they may have been a little too late in period and/or too valuable to risk.
The bit at 14:37 with the other fintail is what happens when you're driving down the M1 for a weekend away and you catch up to the other car full of your mates by surprise 😂😂
Should have done it with the 190d. Although kudos for doing it, I happened to be sitting, and all of a sudden had a thought, I'd like to see a fintail on the nurburgring. Seeing how few fintail videos there are, surely not. But, Just simple searching "Mercedes Nurburgring" and here it is third result.
the man with the crazy face made me so happy. im not sure why. the pureness of the competition, the joy you can see in his actions. i know your grin was also massive Mr. Harris; mine sure was.
It's like when you're driving down the motorway in a very slow car racing your mate who's also in an awfully slow car struggling to get past 80 😂

Post-Race Beers with Chris Harris and David Coulthard should be a regular prime time show

He's Scottish. What do you expect? Of cause he's funny. Glad Cris parked the suit again. Not fitting for him.
lol these guys are hilarious together!!! Top tier banter.
Top GEAR banter.
@@RgW00D Damn. BBC should pair the two of them together.

Best show ever? Get David Coulthard, Chris Harris and Guy Martin and tell them to do what they want...
YES!
Fantastic Mr Coulthard, Mr Harris... Funnier then top gear and better driving!
I absolutely love the fact that so many professionals respect Chris. So many cheesy and untalented journalists out there, but Chris nails it every time and that consistency gives him serious credibility. Go Chris!

Great seeing DC swearing and acting like a proper racing driver having a laugh with his mates
Another hall-mark to the greatness that is DRIVE and Chris Harris on Cars. Effin fine episode!
Love it. Great video, and a classic quote from Mr. Coulthard. "Oversteer will come just before impact."
This is the best this channel has ever offered me. And that says a lot. Thanks
I just love Chris Harris!! His videos are so cool and you really feel the passion running in his veines!!
It was just awesome to meet him in person at Spa last month!!
".....she's not a climber...." I was crying.
She's a gusher...
"Over steer will come right before impact" - Bahaha, made me laugh so hard!
Need more Chris & David in your episodes. The 2 of them are a blast to watch.
Chris is the man, and as usual the best videos can be be found here every week. Please get your own show......
Another great vid Chris! Thank you. What a great chap DC is. Look forward to seeing a future vid of you two.
David is such a cool guy!!!
I never even imagined that I would like him that much....
Cool stuff!!!!
Well done once again!
Damn, Chris and David make a great team. This was epic, I can't wait for them actually complete the race in something faster. Please do it!
One of the best CH videos. His videos are so good.
I've been waiting all week for this.
Chris is at his best @ Historic Racing, and DC is a crack-up!
Best motoring videos on UA-cam , Chris, thanks very much.
This made my day. 2 talkative persons, nice video, awesome guy in second Mercedes and video length is nice. Do more of these.
This is the greatest thing I've ever watched. Coulthard and Harris epic combination
I love the enthusiasm Chris gives on a car. Doesnt matter if its a supercar or a slow 220 like this.
Chris Harris is awesome as always. What was a real eye opener was David Coulthard being so hilarious! Love the sense of humour on that man!
Loved the other Merc driver at around 15 giving a thumbs up and wave, the pure enjoyment of the moment. So good.
Glad to see Chris Harris pound around the circut, even if David broke the car. You can do well with a under powered car, just look at what the original Mini accomplished back in the 60's. I hope to see more of this duo soon. Thanks.
This and tuned are easily my favourite youtube car shows! Look forward to them each week :D Keep it up!
Superb. I was never a Coulthard fan but he seems a great guy, more of these please!
Man who doesn't love David after a video like that? fantastic!!!
My Grand Dad bought one new. He took delivery at the factory. Then spent a Month long touring vacation.
M B then shipped it to the New Jersey docks in the USA in 1965. I was 8 years old at the time. Great trip down Memory Lane!!
Fantastic. Harris is like a kid in a sweet shop. I hope we see more of coultard on Drive.
So great!! Thanks for putting this up! Seems like a blast.
Bitburger - Bitte ein Bit' had me laugh really hard :D Great stuff, Chris :D
Indeed! :D
This is how they say it in some regions for sure!!
Coulthard is hilarious! hahahaha
I do hope they do some sort of race/test again in the near future, great episode!
A whole new found level of respect for DC, such a nice guy.
Cracking piece, and what a presenting pair! Harris and DC on cars?..... Nice work boys
Another brilliant video Chris, I am looking forward to seeing you and DC at the Ring again.
Truly loved this episode !
Two big thumbs up.
Even though the car was crap and Chris was the slowest I really enjoyed this video.
Chris and David seemed to get on very well and lets face it David is a funny guy, sence of humour is spot on.

Chris delivers YET again. Wednesdays have never been the same since
luv the banter at the end, never a dull moment ;)
David Coulthard is probably one of the best people around racing. RB respects him and calls him to drive on their events, Mercedes as well, all in all no one ever said bad word about him :)
that is the first elderly german person I have seen, who can actually speak proper english. respect!
Chris and David you are so funny together, I think I had more laughs in 22 mins (which is about your lap time) than in a entire episode of Top Gear
magical! How was the banter! Absolutely pissing myself watching this! Hard to pretend im doing work when I'm laughing so much! Great work guys.
These two on topgear world kill me
Good point man, they would be great!
Great Video, as always. Thank you, Chris.
That man is a legend! Knew he was down to earth, but come on! Such a nice guy!
Only Chris Harris can make me watch videos with old cars in it and really enjoy it! :D
David is gonna get Chris in trouble, haha. Those damn party boy race car drivers haha. Great video guys

I love David. He´s on very much the same page as Kimi Raikkönen, just a whole bit more open.
Great guy.
How about Mika Häkkinen
That was awesome, DC is much better doing stuff with Chris than on the beeb. More please!!!!
Amazing video and brings back some memories of the ring! More videos of these two together please!!!
now thats a proper gentlemans race when both drivers can give friendly greetings to each other on a straight
LOL Coulthard is hilarious!
Just got a Halfords ad saying they could fit a headlamp bulb from as LITTLE as £6.99. Nice work Halfords, that's more than the cost of bulb.
Hahaha David is so hilarious :D really awesome guy :D
We had an SE with the same engine/gearbox. Good video Chris!
Chris got a little choked up there at the end. Dude is the real deal, I look forward to all of his videos. He reminds me of Harry Metcalfe.
Finally! A 20+ minute Chris Harris video!
It may have been a slow pace but what an amazing opportunity. Lap the 'Ring in an old Merc... The next time I go to Sweden I will definitely be spending a few days traveling to see this amazing and iconic track!
Sweden?
Nicely done Mr Harriss with this episode.
Awesome show guys. Thanks for a quality show.
I didn t realize David was such a funny humble guy, seems like a genuine nice guy.
Great episode! I'd love to see the guys team up and hit the 'ring again with some other beast in the same event or similar.
Always loved the ‘60s 220, never thought I’d see one ‘race’ though. Bitburger, ooh yes please.
Great combo of presenters. DC is a proper gent and funny too! Great video.
Oh god that moment when he almost passed the blue car was hilarious! And Coulthard is such a nice chap! :)
In spite of the hiccups, this was a great clip! I'd love to see these guys team up again.
These guys are going to make Top Gear worth watching
Coulthard is fucking hilarious lmaoooo
I was dying when you heard the damn thing go kaput and he pulled over right out of the pit lane! 😂😂😂
What an amazing experience. Extremely jealous of that experience even though it was in a car with less power to weight than a turtle. David is a champion guy, fantastic driver, i hope to see another video with you two. Do the ring in a 911 :)

What a wonderful pairing. Lovely film. Hopefully they'll get a chance in the Red Pig next time. :-)
i laughed so hard at 9:47 chris checking the mirror literally every half second. i know that feeling of being a slow car on the ring
This was great! Chris at his full potential.
Even if these two had a show about driving around in a golf buggy for half an hour, I'd still watch it.
awesome video!! maybe even the best so far!
Great to see. These things are so much fun -not quick but seriously fun.
These 2 should seriously team up for future shows. Heck a new show even, that would be awesome.
Can't say that I'm surprised, but OMG David is the nicest man!!
Looks like awesome fun! DC is fracking hilarious! I was LOL the whole time.
These guys would be the best top gear hosts ever.
I seriously believe that Peter Windsor and Chris Harris have the two best motoring shows around. They're also both on youtube.

The siren goes off every time a car enters the pit, sort of a warning sound for people not paying attention!
Nice video! And DC is a fantastic dude!
