I have the same kit. Its great for the most part. The foot sensor works 80-90% of the time, but my biggest gripe with it is that it only works when the car is already unlocked... So i still have to pull my phone to unlock the car or open a door before the foot sensor can be used. Even if the frunk is already open while the walk away lock activates, you will not be able to close the frunk with the foot sensor because the car is locked. I reccomend saving the 70$ the foot sensor costs and just get the frunk kit V3 which is so good that i use my frunk for everything!
Agreed. I feel like my foot sensor is useless because of the very reason you mentioned. I finished installing mine yesterday and thought it didn't work and reached out to Hansshow via WhatsApp and they finally informed me of that. And then it worked. But like you said it kind of defeats the purpose because if I walking from a place shopping with my hands full and need to open the Frunk, I'll need to open a door or pull out my phone to unlock the car first which I can just open the frunk with the phone at that point. I would probably have just returned it if I saw this post beforehand. But it's installed now so I'll just leave it. This is something all the install videos need to be letting everyone know unless they are getting sponsored and have been asked not to mention it. Do you know if it's the same for the Trunk foot sensor? If so I'll probably skip installing it and probably return it.
Nice video Mike. You are lucky Hansshow sends you all the time free stuff to try. I on the other hand as an installer for Hansshow in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 never get anything to install and test unless I pay for it. 😒
I already ordered the Haanshaw auto opener from RPMTesla for my MY - was advertised as also working on the MY. Does not work on the MY. The frunk hinges and struts are completely different than the M3. Had to send it back for a refund.
@@ihatekpeng Why do you say that? I am genuinely curios as I have ordered thousands of dollars of accessories from RPM Tesla and have had a great experience with them all.
Thanks for a nice video Brian :) Have you performed a noise level test in the Model Y? Would be great to see a comparison video Model 3 vs Model Y :) I know there are some of them out there but it's always good to see more of them from different owners. And I wonder if the EU cars will be more quiet since they will be produced in Germany, and German car makers sure know how to soundproof cars :)
For the amount this kit costs, why can’t they make the wires the correct length so you don’t have bundles of spaghetti under the drunk cover. It’s ridiculous I think for $500.
Would love to see someone figure out a way to plug in my camping gear to my Tesla so it can power my stuff including an induction cooktop, a light, vacuum and air pump. The cigarette lighter only works so well for a few limited things.
It is possible but a big mod. YoRivian Truck 2021 or Cybertruck 2022. They will have that as a standard feature. Rivian Evan has that kitchen you can buy to put in that pass through behind the passengers - it looked very cool.
Love the content! What are the chances you have a dog or 2 (say kyle's?) that you could show us inside the Y? :) strange request i know! but its my biggest concern and my delivery date is fast approaching!
Curious, what breed? Back seat up or down? My old greyhound gets the entire rear seat for himself, doesn't like it too much since it's narrower than my Prius V(also 68 cubic feet). He could maybe squeeze into the rear too but there may not be room for him to stand up, have to try it out.
@@msn769 we have two 60lb Labs. They fit great in the rear of my Jeep with the seats up. Curious if they will like the rear of the Y. Headroom is my biggest concern... But they do plan on putting a third row for humans so maybe it's a nonissue.
@@user-xb1sg3dw4t I would measure them at the withers, the back of the model Y has a slope, there's more than enough space horizontally for one dog lying down with the rear seats up. Or alternatively if you put the rear seats down, the entire space can be used which can accommodate 2 Labs easily.
@@i1Tesla yeah I figured that when you talked about the "safety" of the switch but I'm thinking more of being home, car parked and a cat simple sliding under the sensor. Would the frunk open?
@@patrickgarant3643 The Frunk won't open from the sensor unless the car is unlocked, so more than likely it wouldn't open if a cat run under the car and triggered the sensor.

Yes he is!

If it's connected to the emergency button, it can open while driving???
Mine does the opposite, it opens wither the car is unlocked or locked or without a key around.
@@Docd1962 that's very dangerous! Are you certain it's wired correctly?
A hint of advice. When the car was unlock and you move into a car wash. The sensor will kick start and open. Foot sensor. You can try and test it.

Yeah I looked at my Y and thought, there's no way that same kit works. Everything is completely different from my old 3.

Good luck
Great video Brian
Glad you enjoyed it
i1Tesla just had my trunk installed with same product two days ago. Love the convenience. Hope you’re well.
If it's connected to the emergency button, it can open while driving???
I feel like the concrete parking blocks that prevent your car from going too far forward will trigger the kick sensor.
The trunk can't trigger open when the car is moving even 1 mph
@@i1Tesla I knew that 😅 good point

Can you use the sensor to open the frunk even if the key is not around? My does and will set off the alarm. Any tips for how to avoid this?
Hey. They don’t sell a frunk kick sensor anymore. Any idea why? This is annoying.
