    I have a model X. Hansshow did not work with my car. No service to correct the issues. I changed to Tesla Offer, and my frunk opens and closes reliably on the fob, car app, and front screen. I can not click on on close all, but the screen shows the open frunk, and I click on the close frunk and it closes. I am happy with the TeslaOffer that is still working well.

    I installed the Hansshow Auto Trunk back in November, and it has worked flawlessly. I'm really glad I did it. I also opted for the foot sensor. Frankly, I don't use the foot sensor very often, I usually forget it's there. A couple weeks ago I had an interesting experience with the foot sensor. I went to my usual no-touch car wash to get my normal wash. Usually I pull into the wash until the Stop lights lights up then stop the car but leave it in "hold" mode. Today, for some reason, I put it in park instead. The wash did it's normal thing with the rainbow soap. But when it started the rinse, I suddenly experienced a blast of water hitting the back of my head. The rinse spray had triggered the foot sensor and the trunk had opened! It a good thing the rear seats were folded down, otherwise the trunk would have filled with water before I knew it. I felt like I was in the middle of one of those UA-cam 5 Dumbest Things videos. So beware, if you're in Park, the trunk can be opened by the foot sensor. If you are in Drive and Hold, the trunk will not open.

    Great video gentlemen! I have recently installed the Mark 2.5 trunk from TeslaOffer and the v4 trunk from Hansshow. I wrote a lengthy review on TMC. Overall, the TeslaOffer kit was easier to install as well as functionally better. There are many reviewers that have documented the damaged weather seal and that alone is a deal-breaker. Also, even though both have CANBUS, only the TeslaOffer implementation is functional. At this time, the CANBUS connection in the Hansshow kit does nothing.

    I installed the Hansshow on my Sept20 MY - it was pretty tight space for my forearms to slide through so I could one-handed remove the lower pneumatic struts and install the new power strut mounts. That said, the unit functions flawlessly - and is integrated into Tesla's Safety&Security software. Case in point, unlike what's shown in this video, the power frunk will not operate unless the Y is in "Park" - I could not replicate that safety defect.

    So I've been using the Teslaoffer trunk liftgate for about a year now. During that time period and after one of the Tesla updates some issues appeared (probably CAN bus changes) but none that kept the trunk from opening from inside the car or from the phone app. After installing the Teslaoffer firmware update in their module things are back to full functionality. I can say that during covid I have exclusively been doing grocery pickup (twice a week) and the power trunk has been a great feature.

    second one caused the frunk to become stuck in closed position, cost me $700 for me to have Tesla service center get into the frunk, and remove the Hansshow autofrunk device. When I asked for a refund from Hansshow, and I was willing to send the kit back, they said no! Do not buy!

    Mike. I used to own an autoglass shop and a couple of points regarding the damage to the back glass seal. 1) This is almost certainly intended to be a wind seal and not meant to seal out water. This type of seal is very common around windshields. 2) Testing for water leaks. Always start low. Then check for a leak. Then move up in steps. Otherwise should you see water inside the vehicle you have no real way to tell exactly where it entered.

    • @FrugalTeslaGuy
      @FrugalTeslaGuy  4 роки тому

      Thanks Rob. Good advice. I think you're right. It seems like the water would go down into the channel between the trunk and the glass which is where the water is designed to go anyway. Thanks again for the tips!

    The minute you pointed out the weatherstripping marks and then a tear, that made up my mind not to buy either product. Any wear or damage to this is just not acceptable because it's not easily replaceable. The model 3 didn't have an auto trunk because it was designed from the start to be an entry level Tesla, it's that simple. Besides, it's not that hard to manually open and close the trunk or frunk.

    • @Durzel
      @Durzel 3 роки тому +1

      Yeah I’m surprised they didn’t make a bigger deal out of that. The weatherstrip is bonded to the glass so if it gets ripped or damaged you’re looking at a new roof glass to replace it. Good luck doing that under warranty with this kit fitted.

    The frunk open from foot sensor has major issues from hannshow when using the update to keep the vehicle unlocked at home. I have the Hansshow with the foot sensor as well as a few other users on my local Michigan Tesla model 3 forum and we have all had issues with the Hannshow frunk with the foot sensor when activated at home with the vehicle unlocked without opening another closure first.

    Great comparison between the two kits. I learn a lot from Raj and you. I have the Hansshow ones, just like yours. For the Hansshow auto-frunk, how can I request the water proof cover and the extra wiring so that I can close the frunk from the touch screen? I also noticed that your trunk kit closes gently whereas mine kind of slams down when it is about 6 inches of opening. Mine is the same version as yours without the CAN bus connection. Unlike the frunk, I do not get any instructions on how to adjust the closing force for the trunk. Did it come with that and am I just missing the instructions?

    no one has asked but do either of these systems have the capability to potentially bend or warp the truck lid (most likely not) or the frunk hood? i would be more worried about the frunk hood potentially bending slightly over time as i understand you need two hands to push it closed on either side of the logo vs just one hand pushing over the logo. since i believe the hood is made from aluminum a softer metal. any comments on this? also, based on the video this seems like a bit too much of a worry for the average consumer to have to think about and deal with. true oem installs are worry free as the fall under their warranties. just an observation as we need to remember the mass market equation and that for many, like my wife as an example, don’t want to deal with an update “breaking” the functions or goofy screen workarounds. that’s why i have a concern over the true viability of these solutions. i personally like them and would have no problem myself, however for the general consumers we are trying to switch into electrification, might be a concern. thanks for the vid really informative.

    Of course the frunk opened because the car is not fast enough to Automatically lock the car.

    Which one is the cheapest? Why are some people so lazy?

    Both of these UA-camrs have very poor knowledge about the product. I tested the product of both these companies for a project and the Hansshow product quality is the best. Needless to say, while the Hansshow product is of excellent quality, the Teslaoffer product is similar to some Chinese products in that it is plagiarized and of lower quality.

      I just installed both company's most recent trunk kits and found TeslaOffer much better. Quieter, easier to install, smoother, and more reliable. Hansshow stopped working in one week.

    So much headache for the modern human being too lazy to open a car trunk with his bare hands.
