- We trailered my GT40 up to Pittsburgh for the Ford GT Reunion held at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex. It was a fantastic event with lots of exciting racing at a fantastic track, along with about 75 GT40s participating! I was able to take the GT40 out on the track for some charity laps which was pretty cool. There were literally a couple hundred people that donated money to charity and got to ride in a GT40 on track! What a great experience for everyone. Although the primary mission in attending was to see if anyone wanted to buy my GT40, I'll admit, this really is making me want to keep it for a while longer...

What a fun event. I am building an RCR GT40. Will make more progress once I retire this February
That's a great project.
On my short list to build. Planning on pulling the trigger next year. How do you like the kit?
@@WernerBartels-v8v it’s good. I bought the interface from LS to Porsche transaxle. The suspension and body are excellent. The directions are not great. I am not a great mechanic. It’s a component car. There’s more fabricating than you might think. But, the complete kit is pretty thorough. Ask your questions before you buy. They pay a lot more attention in presale. You can join a forum which has some value
Was there as well…what a great weekend!!
Yes it was!
The last two videos have been awesome. Thank you
Thank you for watching!
Best video yet. You put a ton of effort into this. Much appreciated👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved it! Thank you. I was supposed to attend with my Mk1 P2440 but we had a minor accident on the way which ended our trip... the GT40 is fine.
Yikes, that's never good
What a fantastic event, that GT40 is one special automobile. Whatever you do with it you’ve had an experience few will have had.
Indeed. I got to live out a dream so if it sells I'm cool with that. If it doesn't, I won't mind. Lol
VERY well done video Dan!! One could say EPIC, REALLY enjoyed watching!!
Thank you
Keep car, straight pipe it, more DIY vids. all great ideas ! excellent video well done.
Thanks!
The photo collage at the end was awesome!
Thank you
I lusted after these for the longest time. Still think they are beautiful. A little too much for me as I age. I'm into creature comfort now.
Yeah comfort is definitely not a top priority with these
Phenomenal video. Thank you from all of us who had to miss it due to other obligations.
You bet!
Makes me want another. Great job documenting and presenting that get together.
Thanks! We had a great time
really great event and so fun on the track
Heck yeah
I’m seriously surprised you didn’t get some decent offers at that event. In my opinion, yours was the best looking one at the track!
Thank you! It takes a very particular buyer.
Dan, this video covering the GT 40 event was, in my opinion, your best video since you debuted your channel. Thank you for taking the time to present this event for all of us to enjoy. The video was so professionally put together and allowed us to get a feel for the excitement around this get together. I plan to watch it a second time with my best scotch and turn the volume way up. Thanks again, and please keep the GT 40. Only thing missing at the event was, "Where was Josh?". You have a great group of car buds.
Haha it'll be better with the volume up.... And the Scotch.
Darn! Had I known you would be at this event, would have loved to say Hello.
We said we were going! Lol
As always, FLOOR IT AND HANG ON !
Hell yes!
I like the one license plate................................. ENZO WHO. 😁
Lol that's a brilliant plate
Dont ever get rid of the Gt40, unless you are upgrading to a better Gt40.
Haha
I grew up in the Burgh' in the 70's. One of the best cities in the country in my opinion. People there are nice and the city has always had a positive can-do vibe. You weren't kidding about the size of these things, what are they, the size of a Lotus Espirit? I've never seen one in person. I'll be honest with you, based on your struggle steering the car on the Dragon, which are the types of roads around me, I think I would prefer one with flappy paddles. I know that won't be popular, but I'm not sure I could get the performance out of that particular car in the mountains as I could with flappy paddles.
I didn't mind the shifting, but power steering on those sharp roads would be nice. Lol
7:02 #89 is a Chevrolet Corvair... 😉 American rear-engine air-cooled flat-6.
Ah yes!
I think that you were at home with that crowd.
I enjoyed myself
I think the GT40 is evidence of what American's are capable of when they care. Unfortunately, they don't care, except for profits, most of the times.
Spot on.
Racing doesn’t really turn into “Win on Sunday. Sell on Monday”. Ford found this out. Enzo spent every dime on it and generated enough cash through auto sales to support his passion for racing. That’s why he should be venerated forever. Ford’s CEO has passion and has made some great cars in terms of the GT and now the Mustang GTD. GM has really shown interest in their LeMans offerings. The NASCAR Camaro and the Cadillacs. So. To be fair, I give them credit for keeping the passion alive. The 60’s was the last era of streetable cars and race cars.
Damn it I missed it. I live about 10 miles from there!🤷🏼♂️
That's a really nice track
Keep it, please - do a before/after straight pipes. ❤
Well I pulled the mufflers yesterday..........
@@normalguysupercar💪💪❤️
1:35 awkward 13:07 ford v ferrari 14:14 charity laps car looks great
Ok
Really cool, how many real GT40’s were there versus tributes? And how big is Tyler’s SD card lol
1 original.
Fab👍
Thanks
The GT40 is pure sex on 4 wheels. The beast.
Haha yes
How much is the most expensive one at this show? Thanks
Not sure but probably well over $1m
I think the green Porsche was an RSR (clone?)
Might be. It was hustling pretty hard.
Good video. Makes me wonder why Ford didn’t keep going with a supercar product line to keep competing with Ferrari and other manufacturers.
Good question. Seems like they certainly had a good formula for winning
$317K for a kit car hahahahahaha
You know that's not a kit car right? You can't buy a kit from Superformance, it's manufactured and assembled.
@@normalguysupercar Yes, but you do buy the roller and then either install the drivetrain yourself or pay someone else to do it for you. I owned P2161 for many years. Great cars just disappointed to see SPF now has joined the gouging game trying to charge people $317K for something you could have for $100K just a few years ago. There's a lot of cars one can buy for $317K. Shooting themselves in the foot!
