It's usually not a good sign when the opelu are biting like crazy, and today was no exception. My friends and I easily filled our bait tubes, but aside from a jumbo kawakawa (mackerel tuna), no other pelagics wanted to play. Luckily, some action on the vertical jig and sabiki rig saved the day and gave me a nice mixed bag for some onokine grindz later on.

I like how you explain what you're doing when going to shallow and deep waters.
Waited a long time for one new video. With gas prices going up I need to see some videos that bring me JOY. Aloha..
Lol I know the feeling its hitting our wallets harrd 😂 Glad some folks enjoy the vids 🤙🤙🤙
I live in Florida and we have had some horrible red tide the last few years. Enjoy that great bite my friend. It can dissappear for years
That is tragic! Makes me appreciate the clean water even more
Impressed with the dozer opelu’s, moana kali and that nabeta! Kawakawa equally impressive 😂. Like the new camera setup. Next up is a land version of Affordable Wahoo with the 🐽!
Yeah the opelus big enough for buss my sabiki hooks off lol. Mahalos and hopefully we get one break from this hog invasion 🤙🤙🤙
Great video as always brah!! Some beautiful fish that trip!!
Right on thanks!🤙🤙🤙
That camera boom is so sick! This video looked so clean
Yessah thanks for the boom lol. Buggah is action.
Nice mix plate 😎
eating good!
That kawakawa looks bigger than 22lbs! And I guess your leg wasn't enticing enough for the nabeta to bite. :-) Thanks for the action. After 7 weeks of wind, and then a bolo this week, I needed to see some fish landed.
The fat content pretty consistent with the weight i think. Was definitely a fatty and fought harder than some 27+ lb ones I've caught. Hope the bite picks up over there soon 🤙
Some fun new camera angles you provided. Last time I was on Hawaii island I caught an 8 Lb Omilu and even my wife, who is soooo picky when it comes to eating fish, absolutely loved it. So, I was kinda surprised that you let the 10 pounder go. Affordable Wahoo no like Omilu in da fry pan?
Thanks! Omilu are great eating but I usually only keep them if the bag's empty when I land it. Right on that you got a nice one 🤙
Man, I have been enjoying your channel since I stumbled upon it a week ago. Great videos! Looks like a lot of them are from Moilii side. How often do you have to fish that side rather than Hilo side ? Is it 50%? Just appears that way when I see the coastline. Anyway, just wanted today good job on videos clear and easy to hear as well as killer fishing!
Thanks glad folks still enjoying the vids! I don't actually go that side very often usually its a backup plan for when the surf and wind make it sketchy to go elsewhere.
Oops, that was supposed to read Milolii but the darn spell check didn't like it. Hahaha
Awesome video! I want to get into kayak fishing here on the big island. Having a hard time finding Hobie dealers here or fishing kayaks with pedal drive in general. Where’d you get yours?
Thanks! No hobie dealers on Hawaii Island, but give Windward Boats on Oahu a call and talk to Stan in the kayak dept. I almost ordered one from them but then my friend gave me an awesome deal on a used Revo13.
@@AffordableWahoo nice! Thanks for the info and that’s a sweet looking boat you have. Happy fishing bro and will give them a call for sure.
Are you off Miloli’i? Love ur vids brah🤙🏼
Yep once in a while I try mix it up and head out there. Thanks man 🤙🤙🤙
Love your channel…. I don’t own a kayak so I live vicariously through you, lol
Couple of things… final weight of that kawakawa? I never seen one that HUGE! I usually see 5-8 pounders
How come you threw that omilu back? I was like nooooo
I would be cool to have a final pic of your catches at the end… just an idea
thanks man! Final weight was 22 lbs on the kawakawa so not nearly as big as I first thought. Still good eats though! I let the omilu go because the kawakawa alone was already plenty to eat.
I like the idea of a final pic with everything maybe on days where its a haul lol.
Mahalo for being good stewards of the sea👍
Yeah youuu!, you actually showed your face!
Chee was time with the new camera boom lol 🤙
Always enjoy your video and the tips you give while fishing. How do you decide to switch from live bait to jigs? Do you only jig when you see fish markings on your sounder or jig on the drop offs? TIA.
Thanks! It's mostly when the bite on live bait is very slow. Its pretty tiring so I almost always just drop on marks or dropoffs.
Hi, I just subscribed to your channel nice video, I have a couple questions: what brand is your leg sleeves and water shoes you are wearing in the video? Thx.
Lef sleeves: www.amazon.com/dp/B09PTYRP5H/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_i_MZQYD3FXVPN9FKKKB08J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The water shoes are Izuo Hawaiian Angler Neoprene tabis.
Thanks for watching!
What brand walkie talkie are you using?
Standard Horizon HX40
Do you have your live bait out when you jiggling?
Yeah usually. Bonus line action.
Going out kawaihae Sunday. Can’t wait. I’m new to all of this and get plenty for learn! Thank you for replying!
@@haynfolife1 Nice GL out there!
Would you be interested in doing a kayak fishing trip with your subscribers?
Maybe some day. Mellow days are nice but sometimes it gets hairy so its important to know everybody's limits for be safe.
Nice Kawakawa braddah! 🤙🏽🤙🏽 Did u get to weigh it?
Thanks! I did end up weighing it at #22. The big ones seem to be seasonal
Yessah! 🤙🏽🤙🏽
