Éomer and the riders of rohan are a true beacon of courage and honor in the epic tale of LOTR. their charge at the battle of helm's deep is nothing short of legendary. every time I watch these scenes, i'm reminded of the strength and valor that Éomer brings to the story.
I do so enjoy how we see him speak to Eowyn of how the little hobbit in the face of battle would flee, and be right to do so. Yet when Aragorn at the climax makes his charge on Mordor and it's armies saying for Frodo, it's the smallest ones on the battlefield, the hobbits, who immediately and thoughtlessly charge into battle after him before any other react. They are so brave it's unreal. You literally see Aragorn run at these countless enemies alone and who's goes after him? Merry and Pippin without so much as a single thought for their own safety, before even Gimli, Legolas and Gandalf can react.
Amazing watching this as our Southern border is now being overrun by human orcs while our leaders perform the role of the traitor depicted in this film.
It's a pity that they didn't show Eomer crowned as King at the end. He immediately succeeded Theoden when he died at the Battle of Pelennor. The soldiers of Rohan shouted: "Theoden King has fallen; but Eomer King has risen!!!" in the book.
@@yaimamartinez9576"Long may you defend Edoras if the battle goes ill." is his sentence in movies. What I understand from this is since Eomer will also be on the battlefield Eowyn is to rule in abscence of both Theoden and Eomer.

I'm afraid that if Eomer ever caught Grima looking at Eowyn, that would have been the end of him right there. Let's all take a moment to appreciate the casting of Karl Urban here. Just another stroke of brilliance in an absolutely perfectly casted movie.
I´m a big Mortal Kombat fan as well as Lord Of The Rings and my followers are not happy about Urban playing Johnny Cage. One of the main protagonists. I´m delighted so they will have to get over it.
the journey of the lord of the rings characters. such an amazing story. it shows a person's hardship of traveling and how far stretched the land is. in most fantasy stories now a days, it doesn't even show how they travel. they either fly, teleport or get they cut the scene of them travelling.
20:29 "Reform the line! Take them head on!" Okay, there's a hundred needlessly dead riders just to get started. Theoden should have let Éomer do his flanking circle move.
The quite fun part of this is most of the Riders of Rohan are locals Kiwi women in makeup and they brought their own horses to ride. Aragorn played by Viggo had a Rider of Rohan GF for a while with a beard and mustache dang funny.
At my most favorite pub of ChCh called The Bog (look it up) the extras cast of LOTR would sometimes come in in their garb and warmly welcomed. It was then we knew the Rider were actually mostly females riding their own horses. That was pretty cool. They could not buy their own booze. We men of Kiwi were very proud of them. Even those with beards still on!
Peter Jackson took a lot of liberties with the movies. Eomer was not banished from Rohan before killing the Orcs and Uruk-hai that took Merry and Pippin. Grima had him arrested after that happened, for pursuing the Orcs and allowing strangers (Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli) to enter the realm without the king's permission.
Should have stayed true to the books, the movies left out Tom Bombadillo & his wife, how Frodo, Sam, Merry & Pippin found arms, they weren't given to them by Aragon, they got them in during their ordeal in the barrow downs, & Tom's rescue of them. Then the Return of the King movie left the Battle of the Shire completely out the ending. The planting of the only Maylorn tree (the seed was Sam's gift from Gladariel, contained in a box with earth from her forest) west of the Brandywine. Sam spent months after the battle and the devastating problems caused by Saruman & Wormtongue replanting the shire's trees. The producers could have included all the scenes of the books in the movies, would have been better with the excellent cast and cinematic graphics of these movies.

Yeah glad we got what we got when we got it😂🤙, hobbit could have been better but it was meant to be more lighthearted, like a kids story. My dad read the books to our fam as kids. 10/10 would reccomend😂
while you're right that if tlotr was made now it would not be good it's because if it was made now it would be a soulless cash grab that no one cared about. Not because they'd probably make the cast less overwhelmingly white, ya get me? It's not the wokeness that would destroy it its the late stage capitalism

Обоих связывает идея победы добра над злом, важная роль дружбы и взаимопонимания всех готовых бороться за счастливую жизнь всех - кроме служащих злу разумеется.
I believe that was done to prevent both Riders and their Horses from losing Heart and Courage. If they had stopped to consider they would have either been paralyzed with fear or bolted.
In books its Eomer who charges against the elephants after he finds Theoden and Eowyn apparently dead. He gathers rest of the rohirrim and charges for death. "Ride! Ride for ruin and the worlds ending!" is Eomer's line so he is filled with battle lust and doesnt really take the time to think it through. But unlike in the movie horses avoid the elephants and as a result the elephants stand as towers of defence for the enemy to rally around.
@@maryleoboldt6100 not sure why it was done in the movie but IRL "no choice" is "the worst choice" because as you mentioned it gives men the impression leaders don't know what to do and are scared. You can't have men thinking you're indecisive as it can spread panic.
Probably because he knows the hobbits he sees are alrd at their full growth (i.e they cannot get any taller, bigger, stronger…), while human children can still grow into fearsome warriors, especially under the forge of war (not that it is encouraged, but desperate times, desperate measures)
Not entirely true. As Theoden himself said in the books, he would have welcomed Merry into the fight if they had been at his own doors. The issue was that Merry couldn't ride the pony Stubbya into battle several days away, nor could he ride with a Rider without encumbering him. Eowyn/Dernhelm was slightly built and weighed less than most, so Merry's extra weight would not overburden her mount, and yet the pair would still keep up with the Host. Arming every boy strong enough to bear arms was the last desperate stand and at least gave the boys a way to defend themselves. Not ideal or even good, but all that could be done when even a few more bodies could prevent a catastrophe.
I think the Ring of Power series got their inspiration from this cartoon scene of Eowyn double slicing a Mumakil down with one Feminine blow. Jackson didn't think that just killing the Witch King was good enough? Fail. Not as bad as "Sam, go home", though. Movies got progressively worse as they diverged from the Gospel. Not as bad as the Hobbits, at least.
