13 years, I still can't shake the feelings I get about this game and that time in my life. Such an immersive game. No other MMO compares in the experience felt in that atmosphere.
@@savoystylo Same. 20 years later. Will never not be a major part of my life. Still look through the original strategy guide that has no useful information anymore, just cause.
This ambient music, still to this day, tickles that part of my soul that remembers being younger, full of mystery and hope. In this time and place, I still to this day, feel it's call.
To this day, the scale of this game blows me away. I have always loved how you can see the silhouette of mountains and landmarks way off in the distance.
I like it a lot as well, especially when no one is around, just me and the NPCs, maybe spotting few lost wanderers passing by doing their own stuff. Good night Aleksander :)
I remember playing the EU beta in 2004, the best gaming time of my life, i played this game for two years and I will never have the same gaming experience again in any game that I got from WOW from 2004 to 2006! Running around in cloth when I was a troll hunter since no one knew what kind of gear you should wear, so funny! Remembering also Barrens chat when no one knew what to do with som of the quests there! Take me back to 2004 please!
First character ever: An Orc Hunter named Djador, a mix of my dads and my own name. I go on my first quest to kill boars, and I'm wondering what the keybinding for defending or dodging is?? "Why can't I block or dodge??" I go on trying to level up, not realizing Hunter is most effective at range. Exp is slow. I get sent to a NEW ZONE?! The Echo Isles?! Awesome. Oh I need to kill Trolls... I die innumerous times.. Trolls are tough lol. But Oh no, what's this? MY AXE BROKE?! Oh goodness no... my primary (so I thought) weapon broke! Oh no.. I have no other weapons, and absolutely no money.. I failed.. I'm a dishonor to the Horde.. I delete my character and start again, but on a Tauren Hunter this time. The adventure continues..
Was weird explaining to my girlfriend why I was listening to this soundtrack without saying: Why the fuck would I not? This soundtrack just hits me right in the heart. Durotar was brutal but very interesting place to level.
:) Hey, I am glad you like it. Have you checked the gameplay video as well? ua-cam.com/video/yipNuUNGupk/v-deo.html P.S.: Sorry for the late reply, I am on holidays skying! I will come back with new videos soon! :) Kind regards, Meisio
Hey Dirk, I am usually doing like that with all my zone videos, trying to match images with the ambience / music :) Thank you for paying attention and watching of course :) Kind regards, Meisio
The real world is a lot more interesting and fun, but you need real gold to move around in it. No gold, you're stuck in your spawning point, at lvl 1, doing worthless quests, forever.
WoW managed through the music and ambiance to make you homesick and nostalgic for a place that wasn't even real. Forge all the sub count, boss Battles, etc. THAT is impressive all on its own.
Back in Classic, coming from WC3 and playing as an orc, this zone and the Barrens were so familiar to me and yet so fresh to explore from a kind of zoomed perspective. The music, the ambience sounds and the harder/slower gameplay from back then made these zones look so vast... I don't play WoW since WoD and probably won't ever again, but I often find myself back in those good times 🥲
When i'm listening to this... i feel like i'm dying of nostalgia... like something inside me it's missing... my orc warrior... damn i can't wait any more for classic servers, i'm checking the WoW website everyday :)) Wish they're gonna release new expansions over classic but not the expansions we know... maybe just BC and WOTLK and some new ones.
Man I loved this game. Spent countless hours and when I would take a week off from work my "vacation" was usually playing WoW. Loved the starting zones and learning the lore of each race. I particularly remember struggling with the totem quests on my Orc Shaman. With only the quest dialogue to go by it was a little more challenging to find the next steps. I tried to recapture it when Classic came out again and it was a lot of fun, but after hitting 60 I got away from it because I just didn't have the time. Someday when I do I hope there are games to explore that are as good or better than original WoW.
Oh man, i first created myself an orc warrior on the account of my sisters boyfriend. It was 2006 or something and i was around 10 years old. I had no idea what i was supposed to do so i just ran around and explored everything. I remember the sound of those scorpions as it was yesterday :D. After a few times playing i knew what i was supposed to to since my sisters boyfriend showed me how to play. It was so different because it kinda was my first computer game and world of warcraft offered such a big and new world. Im still playing world of warcraft but of course it doesnt feel the same anymore but im looking forward to the next expansion with classic servers. Thank you for making this great video man :)!
when I first saw durotar in wow (and saw the contrast with the color tone of barrens across the river, which I had never entered at that time), i initially assumed it was a piece of outland that had gotten onto the human planet because it is the nearly-exact same shade of orange that was used in outland in war3, and had canyons which reminded me of a couple of maps in war3 on outland.
Although i played undead Warlock for the entirely of my WoW experience, my very first character was a Troll hunter. Valley of Trials was the first place i ever wandered in the game, and so Durotar have a special place in my heart
This so great! Thanks for your amazing work, Meisio... I was always looking for a channel like this. The ones I found so far did not have a complete classic playlist (concerning the zones) and/or mixed it up with the soundtrack of extensions, so this is paradise :) I also have a suggestion: I would love to see a map of the zone at the beginning of the video, which would make it easier to track your journey through the zone and increase the immersive experience of your story-telling, which I very like :)
I used to skip school to play my orc hunter, i had trouble equipping arrows and a friend showed me how, used to stack stam & int thinking that is how i get stronger, ninjad int gear off shamans and was overall a dumbass 17 yo, found my first epic in badlands "Ardent Custodian" sold it for 50g to get my timber wolf mount
Thanks IceLand. It means a lot to me. To complete the Vanilla experience at some point I am going to make an Orc Warrior Gameplay No Commentary movies. I hope you like this genre too :) Thanks for your visit and I hope to hear from you again, Kind Regards, Meisio
I think what you should do for ending the video is to have the audio volume slowly fade/drop down, instead of having songs suddenly cutoff. At least for this video, the last song doesn't end as smoothly as it should.
Hey Shivsy, Welcome back :) You scared me a little on this one, for a moment I thought I missed this. The track: DayBarrenDry03 by Derek Duke ends like that. Indeed, it seems a little abrupt, but this was intended by the composer. Thanks for the suggestion, I guess I can fade it away further more if sometimes is not as smooth as it should. But I am afraid for this track, I can't do much - the last 5 seconds faded away are exactly the same as not faded. As you are hearing it now, I also lowered the audio with 2dB than the original, just because it was louder than the others. Maybe the solution should have been just to play another track. :) P.S.: Here is the proof :) www.wowhead.com/sound=2536/zone-barrendry-night *3rd piece in the list* - it is not labeled correctly by Wowhead, but you should recognize the track. "Real life" is overrated. Azeroth made me feel things I've never experienced before or after. Nostalgia hits like a truck.
Azeroth is the nice place we all get to go to live out our fantasy’s after we die.

Summer, 2004, closed beta. Downloading 2,5 gigs of data every other week for a patch. Troll rogue and following the road to Orgrimmar. Amazing
I love how the ambience switches to a Stormwind soundtrack inside the Human fortress near Razor Hill.
