I do understand that this is your personal choice. It has nothing to do with if the vehicle is any good or not. My choice would have included the South African "Ratel" (Badger) as well. It is one of the few APCs that has decades of actual combat experience.
Considering this is your personal list, I respect that and will not debate with any of you choices, except for one, which is the BTR-82. Why do I argue with this? Well, mainly because the BTR-82 is the stepping-stone from the BTR-80A to the BTR-90, so really you should put the BTR-90 in here (AGS/Konkur/2A72 30mm galore!) Also, fun fact, If my figures are correct the BTR-90 is 15,000kg heavier then a BTR-80A due to protection increases. Stryker is strange. its USED by the USA, but its Made by Canada, and based on the Canadian LAV III (Which was based on The Swiss Paranah 8x8.) They are built by a company in Ontario Canada.
Don't forget it's an overpriced bus. Total POS that now the US want to pay 3.8 million to bolt on a gun to it. Just shows how bad procurement is I the army. When they could replace them for 2.7 million with a Polish Wolverine that comes with the guy they want plus Spike Missle, night armor protection, and more hp for expansion and growth.
I can't fathom why most modern armies make their personnel carriers amphibious, but (with the exception of the LAV-25 - trust the Marines) our own Army doesn't seem to think it's important enough to consider. I noticed the video doesn't showcase the Stryker in maneuver, as most of the others are demonstrated. Comparatively sluggish?

Thanks for the feedback. I do like the Stryker. The fact remains, however, that Stryker isn't amphibious. Such capability is inherent in most (not all) other nation's designs. It comes in handy to ford streams, lakes, and rivers in recon, attack and evac/exfil.

I find it extremely interesting that the Stryker (USA) is listed as #6 while the Piranha (Switzerland) is #2. As I understand it, the Stryker is the Piranha rebuilt in America. Theoretically, the Stryker should be better than the Piranha. If you rebuild something, the rebuilt version SHOULD be better than the original. What happened or what went wrong?

Well, rememer the fact that the Bofors is becoming obsolete as many smaller cannons such as a 25mm M242 or a 30mm 2A72 have similar penetration, while being lighter and allowing the gun to have a faster rate of fire. Still love my 40mm though! My BOOM cannon!

no track can keep up with teh speed of a wheeled vehicle. and even tracks cant "go anywhere" they too have limits. wheels are fast,quiet and easy on fuel. lots of pros and lots of combat flexibility

Not fair !!! Stryker worse than the APC 82 .Stryker can't swim and it is impossible to drop from the plane .The Stryker weapons machine gun 12.7 mm. From the BTR 82 gun caliber 30 mm machine gun and 7.62 mm . In addition, the BTR-82 is much smaller and lighter than the Stryker and it is harder to hit from the weapon.And by the way the APC because of its light weight faster and more maneuverable than the Stryker .

The IFV is more heavily armed and armored. It is intended to if necessary proceed all the way on to the objective and even fight with the infantry still mounted. It has more firepower able to deal with a greater array of targets up to and including tanks in some cases and typically offers greater protection to its occupants from a wider variety of enemy weapons.

The Stryker have alot of variant those from 12.7mm MG to M68A2 105mm Rifled gun.

OniNemesis Then what's the difference between an APC and an IFV (I know that they stand for Armored Personel Carrier and Infantry Fighting Vehicle respectively)? What makes them functionally different? I thought the M113 was the last of the APC class as it isn't armored or armed heavily enough to classify as an IFV.
libertyunderlaw An APC is an armored taxi. Its purpose is to transport its primary weapon ( the 8-12 soft squishy things in the back) to a point near the target in relative safety, then dump them out to achieve their objective. Armor is thick enough to protect against small arms fire and shell splinters, armament is the minimum necessary to give some fire support to the dismounted troops - usually just a machine gun or two.
The IFV is more heavily armed and armored. It is intended to if necessary proceed all the way on to the objective and even fight with the infantry still mounted. It has more firepower able to deal with a greater array of targets up to and including tanks in some cases and typically offers greater protection to its occupants from a wider variety of enemy weapons.
