Where is the Fennek? And where is best score based on? A recon vehicle isn't meant to engage... it's role is to be quiet, silent and observate. You seem to judge on cannons and armor.

The Fennek is a great recce vehicle, although it lacks protection from mines and IEDs. I suspect that the lack of anti-IED capability has everything to do with the fact that development of the Fennek started well before the IED threat manifested itself.

Having served on CVR(T).... that's the Scimitar one....... I am biased, but I loved it. The crazy places that you could go with it and terrain you could take it were amazing. I remember one snowy, frozen track in Bosnia that twisted into a near vertical drop to our left that I am certain very few other vehicles could have traversed.... ( perhaps a Hagglands BV206).... I would never have attempted it in any other of the vehicles listed. However my Scimitar and the troop leaders Spartan made light work of it. In both design and size it is the Mini of the tank world. You can take it on a Military 'Italian job' and it will perform - size does matter .... less is more! Just don't get into a mine field in one. Owe and seven reverse gears as well at seven forward........ the clue is in recce........

The AMX-10RCR is almost head to head with the Jaguar. The Jaguar won't fully replace the RCR's, that would cost too much and would be dumb as the RCR's just got an upgrade a few years back, so that'd be wasted money. Also the RCR is still very good, it can do both recon and fire support extremely well and is perfect for the French Army doctrine, which was proved in Iraq, Afghanistan, Mali and Kuwait.

Good list. Just on additional info, you could add upgrades, versus/ comparisons. Like the Rooikat it had a 105mm version, or L7 turret , similar to the Stryker MGS fewer rounds tham 76mm but still above 60 rounds stored. All weather capability with stabilised turret giving it fire on the move capability day or night. Direct fire out to 4 km. Survivability could survive and get back to base with 2 of its large run flats blown off.Along with speed, everybody talking nowadays of shoot and scoot, well on road it go along at 120km/h off- road 90km/h, travel 1000km om its own . A SPAAG , command and dedicated ATGM version. I believe the Rooikat coul defeat a Badger an IFV from Patria , which in return would have the beating of the Boxer CRV. Now Imagine a Rooikat with a 2 tube Ingwe ATGM pod and APS>

I think we could argue that the best armored reconnaissance vehicle to be the M8 Greyhound and it's derivatives, for the simple fact that it has been in service since WWII

Drop the crack pipe, senor, the Greyhound is barely adequate as an Aid to Civil Power/riot/insurrection suppression vehicle, which would get a lot of use in Central & South America, and the price was right (free!) as they were military assistance from the USA, but to suggest they belong in the top 10 of today's vehicles, they still burn gasoline for God's sake, no NBC protection, the list goes on. I beg to differ. While the CV-90 may be a more capable platform, the LAV-25 is a far more flexible design, with the Stryker being based off it. I agree with you though, it's a stupid list. The M3 Bradley made it. That thing was a mistake from day 3.

@@mage3690 This list is so out of touch, the Scimitar has been out of British use for some time. And though the LAV is very good, the CV-90 Chassis mounts both a 105mm and a 120mm NATO compatible cannons as well as a twin barreled breech loading 120mm mortar system with a truly frightening rate of fire and direct fire capability. This would be one of the few times I would suggest looking it up on Wikipedia.

Doubt the weapon load is the most important feature here... Scout vehicles should have decent speed, range, amphibious capability, or watercrossing ability. Accompanying this should be a varied useful sensorpackage and communications gear, maybe additional drones or sensorpods
Any insertion options for behind the line forces could be interesting as wel... Weapons are secondary to these features

Agreed, its a shame really, the CV90 is one of the best IFV's out there. I think the only reason the US didn't go for it is because it was too expensive. Even though it's faster, harder hitting, and can carry more passengers, everything the military has was made by the lowest bidder haha

The best simply isn’t in the video, the best by todays standards is the Boxer CRV. 35mm dual feed cannon, anti-tank guided missiles, 7.62mm machine gun and the option for a .50 cal and 40mm grenade launcher. Speed and manoeuvrability of a tank. Full Hunter/killer capabilities. And if the turret is the unmanned version of the lance 1.0 turret like used by Australia then it can also accommodate up to 8 passengers. The only rival it has is the British Ajax Scout SV. Both vehicles are used by Britain.
