An absolute must, if Vitamin D3 take K2-MK7! No one has good amounts of K2. It must be supplemented, or eat Fresh Natto Daily which has Nattokinase which eats blood clots and K2-MK7. Slows osteoporosis and takes calcium out of the blood. Don't supplement with calcium.

You need to take K2 with vitamin D
It takes the calcium out of the blood and puts it
In the bones where it belongs
10,000 iU’s is not an overdose issue
Especially if you are dealing with any kind of chronic health issue
Dr. Berg has a video on this
Some people take 50,000 iU’s for certain illnesses
But it is not recommended for a long period of time ( years )
With all supplements it’s a good idea to cycle
Easiest way is take the weekends off
      Gives the body a break
      So 5 days on
      2 days off.

@@Bieggaoaivi A general rule of thumb is to take at least 100mg of magnesium per 1,000 IU of vitamin D3. Also. while Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 work together directly, the dosages of these two vitamins are independent of each other, which means that no matter how much vitamin D3 you take, the optimal dosage in order to benefit from the full effect provided by vitamin K2 always remains the same - between 100 and 200 mcg per day.

Started taking 30 to 40k vit D3 daily for maybe a month. Since then I take 20,000 IU of vit D3 with 200 vit k mk7. Now I work longer days, feel stronger, less pain, no adverse side effects. I research and doctor myself, don’t trust the pharmaceutical/doctors. Also take 800 mg magnesium, benfotamine (B1) and potassium. I don’t get sick. I agree wholeheartedly. If we don't have the Spirit guiding us we will not have discernment and will most likely rely too much on doctors. That can be a deadly mistake, a road paved with poor health due to deficiencies and being too conservative with vitamins and supplements. The RDA on most vitamins is a joke and will never bring us optimal health if strictly adhered to. The RDA is deceiving and purposely so, to keep us symptomatic and seeking out doctors and medications. Fasting is also a really important health intervention that should be a central tenet of our health care routine. Doctors these days are woefully and dangerously ignorant and that too is purposeful for the benefit of companies who are eagerly awaiting your dependence on medications to treat symptoms that are easily healed with the right knowledge. If someone goes to their family doctor and is not the smartest person in the room, they are at risk for never experiencing optimal health.

IMPORTANT: You should also be taking Vitamin K2 at the same time when you're taking 10,000 ius of D3. D3 can still cause some calcification in your arteries. K2 removes the calcium from your arteries and puts it back into your bones, where it belongs. You only need 100 mcg of K2. The MK-7 version of K2 is supposed to be more effective than the MK-4 version.
Also, you should be eating some food with fat in it, at the same time as taking D3, so your body can absorb it, like nuts, avocado, etc. Essentially, any fats will work, but try to stick with the healthy fats.

How much magnesium does your wife take? I use high dose vitamin D3/K2 as well and I spray 1200mg of magnesium chloride on my skin each day. It seems that magnesium gets depleted rather quickly when taking high dose D3. I heard of a woman who was taking 50k D3 daily for years by recommendation of her Doc who neglected to tell her about the importance of magnesium. I was shocked that a Doc was even aware of the benefits of high doses but wasn't surprised he was clueless about magnesium. This poor lady was having horrible Charlie horses from this protocol that would literally leave bruises. Once I made her aware of the magnesium spray she was free of the bruises in days. I wish more clinicians cared about their patients enough to look outside the box of consensus medicine which has been a planned disaster.

In researching on my own, I found out that you need to take K2/M7 along with taking D, or calcium won't go into your bones, and instead can go into your deep tissue, arteries, onto your bones, just like you are sharing! Thanks for sharing your experience! ❤

Exactly! Vitamin D3 needs to have vitamin K2 in order to direct the calcium into the bones. Unfortunately in recent years a study that was done looked at vitamin D on its own. Nutrients work synergistically with each other, not on their own. Some doctors, like this gentleman’s new doctor, are up on the latest research but conventional medicine in general are 17 years behind the science so unless a doctor keeps up with the latest science on their own the info they have could be close to two decades old.

@@luvurab You are so right, most doctors aren't researching and continuing to learn about things after they a as re out of med school. Especially, nutrition, alternatives to prescribing Rx's. The doctors doo ok my have enough time in between patients to even accurately diagnose most people, and it's not completely doctors fault, it's due to the way the system is set up, which is dictated by insurance companies only covering brief times with each patient, and the pharmacies regularly bringing new drug samples, and lastly, we send patients to a specialist for each body system or part, and doctors send reports, but it's all over the place, patients aren't getting what they need from them coming together and the patient is seen in parts instead of a whole person. We aren't going to change the system in time for those that need help now, so we need to find and work with the few doctors and our own research and I think there's a growing number of people, including doctors who are also seeing things need to change, and I'm encouraged to at least see we can't just rely on prescriptions and need to be our own advocate.

Sunlight only creates Vitamin D when the sun is at least 30 degrees above the horizon. So even during summer it’s availability is limited during those hours. During the rest of the year it is even more limited. Generating Vitamin D depends on the UVI at that moment, the suns angle, your age, weight, skin tone, etc. a lot of factors. It’s best to get tested regularly and supplement from there. Never assume your getting enough vitamin D from sunlight alone. There is a good app called dminder that takes all these factors into consideration and will will give you a good idea of how much vitamin D you’re generating. It’s a great app and no I am NOT it. My doctor told me last week that my Vitamin D levels were 96 which I was really pleased with as doctor said it was in normal range. On having access to my records, I realise that the UK measure the levels in nmol/l rather than ng/l. Therefore my level was 96nmol/l which in effect is only 38ng/ml.
I take 3000 IU of Vitamin D every day with K2. I am a dark skinned lady and am now thinking I need to increase my Vitamin D supplementation. It feels to me that doctors are happy with blood level readings that are adequate or sufficient. Shouldn't the aim be to reach optimal levels??

Wow, that's interesting to know! I'm in the UK too and had a general blood test about 5 weeks ago because I was anemic, but I also asked them to test for D levels as well, though I never received a detailed print out because my Iron levels were so low, that's all that was focused on and so I didn't bother with the rest.
But I did ask the anemia specialist if she knew what my D level was, while we were discussing my anemia and what needed to be done about it, and she told me it was 'good' at 65, which I was quite pleased about and surprised about too, because I hadn't been supplementing with any, and although I had been in the sun quite a bit, I didn't think it would have been enough to have got my levels that high so quickly, especially after winter! I think I'm going to definitely go and get the print out asap now to find out. I have been taking 5,000 ius for around 6 weeks, but have just upped it to 10,000 (With K2) because of a couple of issues I still have, but generally I do feel pretty well.....

CAUTIONARY TALE: In 2013 (at age 49) I was in a hospital rehabbing a major back injury. They found my vitamin D level was in the toilet at 14 nmol/L and was put on 20,000 IU/day for a month. This brought my levels up to >30 but barely. I was put on a 5000 IU supplement per day and tested frequently to keep my levels between 50-100 nmol/L. This was done WITHOUT vitamin K supplements.
Flash forward 10 years…..Only in the last four years did I learn of the importance of vitamin K intake (naturally or via supplementation). I now have major arthritis in every main joint in my body! I’ve had a hip replacement, am soon to have one of two shoulder replacements, and have been told both knees will need replacements. I , and other health professionals, believe much of this was caused by inadequate vitamin K while supplementing with Vitamin D3. Now she says that's outdated info and vitamin d isn't as beneficial as once thought, won't test my levels, and said not to take more than 1000 iu and I'll be fine with that. I'm angry, confused, and upset about this change. She knows I became very depressed and low energy last winter (we live in the PNW and I suffer with SAD every winter but this was extreme), also dealt with pretty intense pain from an old back injury for 5 months. She did little to help me (offered antidepressants which I won't take and counseling which I have mixed feelings about). I ignored her 1000 iu instructions and started taking 6000 iu/day of D3 with k2, then cod liver oil every other day in my protein shake after strength workouts, and going outside for walks in the early morning springtime sun. Depression and fatigue lifted within a couple of weeks after starting the 6000iu, which then gave me the energy to start working out again, my mental outlook improved drastically, back pain subsided, all after literally debilitating depression, fatigue, and pain from Oct-Apr. I wish I could see a Dr who wasn't beholden to the drug companies, tries to get to the root of health problems, and is willing to use natural and alternative remedies. It's a lot to try to navigate health problems by yourself (I also have Hashimoto's and some other health issues), it takes a lot of time and research, but I've done it for years and will obviously have to continue to do so because the mainstream medical system is useless, unless you become deathly ill and they can use their invasive treatments on you.

I recently went to a new doctor who appeared to be closing in on maybe 70. I thought I was getting a younger one. She told me to stop taking 3000 of D a day because it would stop my heart and kill me. The funny/not funny thing is, when she ordered my bloodwork, she didn't include my D level. She also said I had calcified ear wax in one ear and when I got to an ENT, he pulled out a piece of cotton. The woman is obviously not fit to practice and I have to find another doctor. I actually went to her because another doctor misdiagnosed me about another health issue. It's getting really hard to get help. I'm really sorry to say this but when doctors get to a certain age, they should be evaluated to see if they are still competent enough to help people live instead of wasting our time. Personally, it discourages me from seeking help at times and that's why I end up in the ER which is not how it should be.

As others have stated vitamin D{3} should be taken in conjunction with vitamin K2, to ensure calcium is not taken out of the bones, into the blood, tissue, etc.. The ratio is: for every 4000IUs, take 100mcg of K2. The K2 will remove excess calcium back into the bones.

chatGPT replay: "The statement is partially correct. Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 do work together in the body, and they both play important roles in bone health and calcium metabolism. However, the specifics of the dosage and safety limits can vary based on individual needs and should ideally be determined by a healthcare provider. Here are the details:
Interaction of Vitamin D3 and K2: Vitamin D3 helps the body absorb calcium from the diet, and vitamin K2 helps to direct that calcium into the bones and teeth where it is needed, rather than allowing it to deposit in the blood vessels or other tissues. Therefore, taking these two vitamins together can indeed support bone health.
Dosage Ratio: The ratio stated (for every 4000 IUs of D3, take 100 mcg of K2) is a commonly suggested one, but it's not a hard-and-fast rule. The ideal ratio can vary based on individual needs and should be determined in consultation with a healthcare provider.
Safety of Vitamin D3: The upper limit for vitamin D intake for most adults is often set around 4000 IUs per day, but higher doses may be used under medical supervision in some cases. The statement that under 40,000 IUs is safe is not typically accurate -- this is a very high dose that could lead to vitamin D toxicity if taken regularly without medical supervision.
In general, it's important to remember that while vitamins and supplements can support health, they should be used as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle, and their use should be guided by a healthcare provider. Overconsumption of any vitamin or supplement can lead to adverse health effects."

@@Ndogg012 I was diagnosed after 11 years of being sick (started in 1991) and as Slow Progressive MS. It steadily got worse and the Medicine they had to mitigate the Immuno-response started to cause Arterial Inflammation then destroying my Liver. That's when I went Nutrition, Herbal and Physical Therapy route.
Number one Clue: My Vitamin D was in the teens (18 parts per million) where you need to be above 40 at a minimum. Taking pills alone didn't help much, got to the 20's is all. Read about the roll that Medium Chain Fatty Acids play in absorbing and using D3 so I went with Coconut Oil ( Teaspoon in morning then at night). Plus bumped up D3 to 8000 units (4k in morning then 4 at night with the oil).
Second Clue: cut out anything that sequester's D3. No more Soda with corn syrup. No more cooking with Corn starch or anything with Maltodextrines. Plus cut out Dr Pepper and Mt. DEW they have Phosoric Acid and other stuff that strips Calcium and affect D3 negatively.
Third: Vitamin B Complexes needed to be balanced so the Neurons could rebuild properly. I use Nutritional Yeast as indicated by a Dr Berg. I also do a modified Keto-Paleo meal plan to get the right fats and proteins and I grow my own Vegitables whenever possible. Herbs I grow are Oregano, Basil, Anise, Sage, Mint, onion and Chive. Use then in all my meals.
Fourth: Get a good Physical Therapist that Teaches you not just Treats you. Work a slow but steady exercise so as not to aggrigate the inflamitory response to cell breakdown by overdoing it. I did water Arobics so as to keep my body cool while exercising slow but steady.
Plus I got off all pain killers except an occasional Alieve for migraine or the muscle cramping.
Not a Dr but have learned to live with the Neuropathy affects and can get around without a Cain and Walker. I adjust my activities if I respond to something badly but otherwise been in remission for a bit over 10 years.

Thanks for the link to the Mayo paper! I'd like to add a couple of points from my searching for actual research on Vitamin D. Yes it is a hormone and it is almost like a rechargeable battery. When you do get sick, your Vitamin D levels (as measured by blood test) will start dropping rapidly. So the advantage of being higher than 65 ng is basically how long can it help you fight an infection. My last 2 readings: 101 ng (18 months ago) and 63 ng (last month). Everybody seems to have a different uptake rate. I hit 101 ng by taking 10,000 UI/day. My brother takes 20,000 IU/day and only gets to 70 or 80 ng.
Also many lay people don't understand how Covid-19 generally killed you. For many, it caused an overreaction of the immune system, causing your body to flood the lungs (basically stuffy nose but in the lung) and reduce your oxygen uptake. Vitamin D, among other things, is a regulator of the immune system. It both makes your immune system react faster to an infection AND also helps limit overreaction of the immune system. This latter feature is why high Vitamin D levels are protective against dying from Covid-19. The fast immune reaction from Vitamin D is why so many people taking it say that they "rarely get sick". They are getting sick but the immune system catches it so much faster before the infection gets going and gives us the normal cold symptoms; You fight off the cold super quick.

My Dr refused to give me more than 800 IU despite my levels being below 20nmol/L We had a 15 minute long argument but he was adamant he was right because the UK national Health Service at that time were still quoting 800 IU as the optimum level in their recommendations. I have been taking 4000 IU daily all year round in the UK and the positive effect on my health and various conditions has been life changing

Those ancient 400IU numbers were only the levels sufficient to prevent deficiency disease, in the case of vitamin D, that would be “rickets.” Higher levels are about *therapeutic* doses; that is, an amount you would need to ensure bodily functions-like immunity-that are related to it are not just not failing, but functioning optimally.
I personally have been taking 10,000/day 5 days/week for many years, to get my levels to 60-70. I have a history of kidney stones, and have had not a single stone (nor anything at all showing up ultrasound images of the kidneys) in the last 10 years.

Very helpful! Thx. I had very low VitD several years ago so I’ve been supplementing with OTC D3 and prescription D2 for several years with good results putting me in the 50+ range. And then… a few months ago I started on Mounjaro for my diabetes and I ended up losing 45# in about 6 months. My blood tests at that point were AMAZING! No more high BP or diabetes or anything else troublesome, EXCEPT… my Vitamin D was now at 199! Turns out ALL my fat soluble vitamins and hormones were ultra high due to them being released back into my system as I burned off the fat. The doc actually called me at 7am on a Saturday to tell me to stop taking any of vitamin D supplements! I also showed some calcium crystals in my urine test which she said could lead to kidney stones so we would continue monitoring that. But she didn’t explain the connection between the D and the crystals. So thanks for filling in that detail. Now I understand why she also wanted to make sure that I wasn’t taking additional calcium. It sure helps to understand the WHY of the instructions the docs give you. 😃

Slight differences in our biochemistry / physiology can cause issues that are sometimes virtually impossible to sort out and fix. Example - just because your vit D level is normal doesn't mean that you could benefit from supplementation or vice versa. Each of us has to do the best we can determining what works best for our particular self. There are so many things that go into a well running organism that we can never get everything perfect. They have no knowledge or interest in Vit D3 status. It is pretty much assumed that serum vitamin D status is associated with a better immune system, and therefore better health. Better resiliance to disease. So, why isn't it centre stage at the doctor's surgery. I started taking 6,000 IU with K2 daily during the “pandemic.” I went from 2-4 colds per year and annual sinus infections to nothing. I feel like it’s a miracle after spending most of my life waiting for the next cold. Oh, I never got the pandemic illness either even though my 12-year old did have a mild case. He’s on the regimen now after being diagnosed as low in vitamin D and has been doing well. YMMV so check with your doc first!

I had my Vitamin D level checked by my rheumatologist who was treating my rheumatoid arthritis and my level was 3. She immediately started me on a 50,000 dose but not daily. Once I was finally at a level that was in the upper range she started reducing it. I now take 5,000iu 3 times a week and have for quite a few years and it’s been stable. I do a lot of gardening so do get natural sunshine but I am very fair and had my first skin cancer at age 30. My husband just recently had his level tested and his level was 16, so I had him start on it. He had developed a goiter, which is why he went in and hadn’t seen a doctor in 5 years.

If your husband has a goiter he's probably low in iodine. I would consider supplementing with an Omega-3 based supplement and some iodine for that.
Or you could just supplement with many things because unless we eat an ideal diet from food we raise ourself on pristine pastures, it's pretty hard not to be deficient in multiple nutrients these days. Once you start poking around you find out there are so many fantastic supplements out there today. It's hard to choose just a limited few.

@TAS TX no today unfortunately it's not. it's up to you course but I would recommend increasing your iodized salt intake as well as using other natural salts like sea salt. Natural unrefined salt products can provide a variety of beneficial minerals.
There's a supplement out there called solé that I think is is genuine. I used to use it but it's been a while. It seems it to improve my health.
I'm also very fond of marine phytoplankton supplements, arctic ruby oil, a company called activation products, and a supplement called cell food.
I may be a bit of an evangelist but I believe excellent health can be found from good wellness practices but also using a variety of quality supplements.
Other holistic practices that you might want to consider are rife therapies, red light and far-infrared therapy, and simply tanning for more vitamin D exposure. Supplements, if they're quality, are always great in my opinion, but I believe moderate sun exposure or a tanning bed can also be helpful. Whether it's outdoors if you're able to do that or simply in a commercial tanning salon.

Last year when I went to my pcp, she said my bloodwork showed that I had hypercalcemia which was causing osteopenia. She told me that high doses of D3 can cause this. My D test showed I was at 100. So she told me to cut my dose of D3 in half. I have now been taking 5000 IU. I also had my parathyroid tested and it was normal. My next appointment is in July 2023, so I’m hoping everything will be ok.

I highly recommend getting your vitamin D level tested as it associated with so many auto-immune, nervous system disorders & degenerative diseases. I’m a 58 year old male who stays in the shade, 6’2” 250lbs, Vitamin D 198 nmol/L, blood pressure 110/70 & calcium 2.24 & have none of the issues I’m going to mention next. In 2002 I was suffering with anxiousness, fatigue, hypersensitivity - felt like burn out, frequent colds, allergies, but in hindsight, it was low vitamin D. In 2008 I had it tested & my vitamin D level was at 26 nmol/L. I started supplementing vitamin d3 400iu for a few years, then 1,000 iu for a few years, then 2,000 iu for a few years with little progress, then 3,000iu, then 4,000 iu. By 2019, my vitamin D was 73.9 nmol/l. I started taking 5,000 iu vitamin D3 and that got me out of the insufficiency range to 125.1 nmol/L. In 2001 I increased my vitamin D3 to 7,500 & 2022 10,000 iu along with Vitamin K2 MK7 100mcg & in Oct 2023, my vitamin D was at 198 nmol/L, so I think I’ll dial it back 7,500 iu as toxicity is at 250 nmol/L. If I knew what I know now, I would’ve started at 10,000 iu with vitamin K2 MK7 100mcg per day for 3 months, then dialed it back to 7,500 iu everyday & Vitamin K2 MK7 100mcg every other day for 9 months & retested. When I got a mild case of shingles, I took 15,000 iu vitamin D3 & 100 mcg K2 MK7 twice daily for 3 days & by the 5th day it was healing up & two weeks later it was gone. I may try that if I get a cold.

Magnesium, vitamin D, and vitamin K2 is a kind of minimum supplementation for when you don't get any sun.
When supplementing with vitamin D, get your calcium from food, not from supplements.
After 3 months, you can test your level of vitamin D, i e 25(OH)D, in the blood. Your goal is 40 - 60 ng/ml. More, if you want, but I think over 80 is unnecessary.

This is very helpful to me. It alleviates some of my apprehension about adding a 2000 IU D3 supplement to my daily multi-vitamin. Also, I have learned that adding a small amount of additional magnesium helps the body use the vitamin D... but beware, magnesium overdose is definitely possible so don't overdue the magnesium, or any metals or minerals. My multi has 50mg of magnesium and my magnesium supplement has another 400mg, which is the recommended daily amount so I am pretty sure that I am not taking a toxic amount of magnesium. Magnesium normally dissipates and/or gets used up fairly quickly so it is probably okay to take the supplement every day.... However, to be on the safe side, I occasionally skip a day from all of my mineral and vitamin supplements... maybe twice a month.

Magnesium is necessary to turn vitamin D3 into 25-hydroxyvitamin D, which is the form that is measured in the blood. Also, apparently sufficient zinc is necessary to turn this intermediate form into the actual active form, which is 1.25-dihydroxyvitamin D.
So supplementing both magnesium and zinc in small doses should help impove your immune functioning, if you're not getting enough of these nutrients from your diet (like a diet high in processed foods).

Sun sensitivity can be caused by taking too much B6 (recommend keeping to below 12mg per day total B6 from supps, I get 6mg per day) and not enough zinc (to get enough to help with skin issues 20-25mg zinc for women 25-35mg for men is probably around the right level (I take 28mg per day [I'm a guy in average shape]). Sun sensitivity is the same as the skin damage that people who spend a lot of time in front of a computer screen get as well from the computer monitor blue light (use a 50+ sunscreen either way, and night mode can be used on your monitor all the time to reduce skin damage). Btw I assume you mean 100mcg K2 and not 100mg K2, I also take 10kIU D3 which I pair with 400mcg K2, recommend you consider a slightly higher K2 dose unless you eat a lot of organ meats or Kimchi (Korean fermented Cabbage) as both are high sources of K2.
