Hi Stav and Mac. One more advantage related to your theme here. If you two were (both) engaged in the fire fight, the standardization allows you both to share magazines and ammo. Nice when your partner has your back!
Living alone in the country with no close neighbors I use a Beretta 1301 shotgun loaded with 8 rounds of 00 buck, cruiser ready, for home defense. My dog is my early warning system. But your video is well thought out and communicated. Whatever you choose, disiplined practice with them will make you better. Learning one gun or one pattern of gun is always the easiest choice. But given my circumstances I find that a shotgun works for me to bring quick closure to any attempted home invasion.
I've already been doing this for years with my carry-and-home defense pieces. HK is my favorite brand and platform. The VP9/VP9sk are the same. My P30/P30sk (both da/sa pieces) are the same. My HK USP .45 and my USP Compact .45 (both da/sa/ pieces) are the same. This type of concept has served me well over the years. Nice video guys. 😎
Love this video. We are a Glock family here. There is a lot to be said for staying with a solid platform for home defense and carry. There are several excellent firearms from other manufacturers but we are invested in several mags and holster options as well as sights. Changing that platform completely can be expensive. Great video. Thank you.
There's no doubt it's an excellent system (one of the best for sure). Even if Glocks aren't my favorite guns of all time, I think it's ridiculous that people try to trash them, as if they're bad firearms. People will say that Glocks are obsolete, because guns like the P365 came out... but that's not far off from saying that SUV's and trucks are obsolete, because cars exist. They all have their uses. I even love pocket guns like the LCP models, Baby Browning, NAA revolvers and many guns in the same size/weight class. I've heard many people say "I would carry if I had one of those"... or "I would start carrying every day if I had one of those" when learning about some of the smallest firearms that they didn't know about previously. I've gotten several people to start carrying and in most of those cases it's because people were really impressed by the size and concealability and carry-ability of the pocket guns.
A Glock is the AK of handguns u can abuse it ,will eat any round u put in it and is combat proven ,and she will go bang when you pull the trigger Glocks rule!!!
Yes, this is what I do. I match with Sig Sauer. I have a Sig P320 X VTAC for home defense, and I have two Sig P365s for concealed carry (regular P365 with 10 mag for summer (Arizona), and P365 X for winter). I even shoot a Sig P365 BB gun for plinking around the yard and our family trains cheaply with it too. It makes such a difference to have the same feel and processes for all of these guns.
Interesting. I also have the VTAC as my primary home defense weapon - only pistol I have with a mounted light and just an easy gun to shoot. I have a P365 (I put a Sig OEM flat trigger on it) and a P365 XL Spectre in my carry rotation - love the similarity in how and where all three triggers break. I also have a LCP Max for occasional pocket carry (not a fan of pocket carry) and mix in a larger and heavier H&K P30SK (with a greyguns flat trigger installed by Langdon Tactical) DA just for fun. Which one I carry depends more on situation and specific weather - although we have a handful of cool days every “winter”, here in SW Florida it’s pretty much shorts all year round. All great firearms.
@@scooter5940 Yes, I am in hot weather in the Phoenix area and wear shorts or at least warm/hot weather clothing 5-7 months per year and “winter” is only 2 months, so concealed carry is tricky just because of the light clothing almost all year. I use only the P365 or 365 X in my EDC, and to keep it concealed I use no lights or optics. I can even pocket carry the P365 with the 10 round magazine in cargo shorts etc. But for home defense, for my P320 X VTAC I have a Streamlight TLR-1 HL light. I find the VTAC has such excellent night sights that I don’t use an optic on it. And to be open, for home defense I also have a Mossberg shotgun with 9 pellet buckshot next to my bed. Depending on the situation at home, I can lead with the shotgun and have the P320 x vtac as a backup, or the other way around. That P320 X vtac shoots like a dream.
@@jamesandgraceglobalone2one588Hah - we think alike. No lights or optics for me on my carry guns, either. I have a red dot on my PCC and I know they are trendy on handguns, but I am just not willing to add bulk and a bit of weight. While no doubt the dots help at longer distances and in target shooting, the jury is mixed on whether they are a plus for self defense. I did spend some time and money getting my firearms they way I wanted them - triggers, actions, grips, and appearance - but I don’t want all the cool doodads on them.
@@scooter5940 Fully agreed. On the pluses and minuses of optic sights on a small gun, as compared to concealability for EDC, I opt for comfort and concealment. It is going to be close range anyway, if I am defending outside my home. I now have a CAA MCK MICRO CONVERSION KIT FOR ONE OF MY P365s. It has a red dot. So I can get something similar to pistol carbine accuracy and distance if I need it.
Hey Stav, Mac. HUGE fan of you both and the channel. I live in South Florida. Have my conceal carry almost 2 years. Am a senior, 66 years old. I did a lot of research before buying my one and only for carry and home and after watching numerous videos, I am happy with my Glock 43x. Have a vedder Kydex holster with a claw. 3 o’clock position IWB. Conceals well. Carry with 10 round mag, always one in the chamber and two extra mags on my belt. Carry ammo is Hornady critical defense. Only modifications are tallion grip, tritium tru glo night sights and a cool silver magwell attachment adds a little bit more to the already full size grip. Glad at the very end you mentioned Glock 43x as a well rounded all in one for carry and home. I am y’all number one fan and have seen every video and several many times. I know I can use more advanced training and more range time. Working on it!!
Good points. The 19/26 is a great combo for me, typically I keep 19 mags in the 26. If the 26 had a rail that would be all I needed. Interestingly the 17 doesn’t quite feel the same as the other two. I have full size hands but full size guns aren’t my jam. Oh and hubby seems like a good fella.
I'm glad you all are talking about The angle of the grip is important because. My EDC is a clock 43X MOS. But my range gun and I would say my war/ home protection pistol will be a Beretta 92X. They have completely different angled grips and I sometimes find that difficult to adjust to.
Very good topic! I have Ruger security nine, Ruger, security 380 and an LCP max. I also have the security nine compact. All four have the same everything like you’re talking about.
Congrats on wedding. I’ve been watching all your videos recently. Wow you’re amazing. Well Mac too. So informative and I’ve improved my accuracy and clear my malfunctions with confidence now !!!!! Keep them coming
Great information!! I never thought about matching my edc, a S&W Equalizer, to a home defense weapon. I am from Massachusetts too, moved to Florida when I retired just in time to have my house destroyed by hurricane Ian. That experience gave me the push to get my CCW. Prior to that, I was only carrying pepper spray, I was a visiting nurse in Brockton and Fall River but never felt afraid. I am so grateful for your videos and great advice from both of you.
My wife & I, each have a full size 1911A1 in .45 ACP. Our EDC carry guns, are Sig Sauer P365XL. Her's has a Romeo Zero Red Dot, mine doesn't. Our EDC carry guns, are both equipped w/ a 15 round mag, and two spare 15 round mags. There's 1911A1 mags stashed throughout the house.
This is a new concept to me. Glad i have a Glock 19 because it's kinda a median between a full size and compact plus it's what i can afford right now. Thank you for the enjoyable and informative videos. Great to see both a man and woman giving their advice from experiences
Great example, Mac! Hockey sticks are exactly as you described them. They are very specific to experienced players. Same as the firearms. Excellent examples across the board. Keep up the great videos!
My EDC is a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus and my home defense gun is the Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 😁😁 Love both guns and I don't feel much difference at the range when I take both. When home they are on opposite sides of the house so if I am on one side and someone busts through the door, I don't have to pass the entryway to get to one. Thanks for another great video!
I got a couple personal opinions. I edc and practice with it often. Yes it’s a micro compact and less forgiving than a full size. Practicing only with this makes it feel like a glove when I go to shoot (muscle memory). Saying all this, most houses aren’t that big a micro compact couldn’t handle. Knowing all this the adrenaline dump from fear, and being awoken from a sleep in a self defense situation would totally make accuracy go out the window. My go to self defense weapon is the 12 gauge shotgun with buckshot. Statistics show it has stopped threats much sooner than a handgun. I remember your video from 2 years ago showing the effectiveness of a 12 gauge over a handgun. It all comes down to personal preference hoping to never have to defend myself or family against a threat. Always great videos guys 👍
Check out this vid we did on home defense a few years ago. ua-cam.com/video/Anezcu_uFCs/v-deo.html We use rifles and shotguns as well as pistols. We were just focusing on pistols for this one. Lots of people who own long guns don't actually use them in their home defense plan.
This is by far the best video I have seen on the topic of concealed carry/home defense. The topic is covered well in scope and depth; I learned a lot from this video and I enjoyed the level of expertise so much, that I subscribed to your channel. Thank you and keep up the good work. 😊
I really like my Hellcat. Easy to shoot and not too heavy for concealed carry. I keep an S&W Victory for home defense. (Yes, I know it is a .22 but I live in an apartment and would never be more than 25 feet from my target.) Thanks so much for doing this video. I really enjoy listening to you both: great information and I always learn something. BTW Stav, I cannot find a belly band I like as well as the Cancan you demonstrated. Hope they go back in business. :)
I agree with this. This is also I never understood the concept of "carry rotation". I have a Shield Plus PC 3.1" and Shield Plus PC 4". The gun breaks at the right time and and right spot for me. While I have a Springfield XDM-Elite for home defense, I will likely grab one of my Shields first.
I'm with you. Never had a "rotation" to work with. I got my Shield first then a full size for home a year later. Grip angle and texture, along with the same ergonomics made that my go-to brand. I love my M&P's that much and shoot them well. My Plus is always by my side, even at home ❤
Great information! I never thought about the angle of the grip. When I started, 15 years ago, I carried a Ruger LCP and my home defense was a 357 revolver. Couldn't get any more different! After trying many different handguns I discovered the S&W EZ! With my disabilities it is the best thing ever! But because of the size I was still carrying the LCP and I have to admit, I can't draw it, rack it or hit anything past 5 feet away. (good thing I never needed it!) Last year I bought myself the S&W Plus and I am getting used to carrying the larger, heavier gun. My speed and accuracy are very good with both. I have tried Springfield and Glock and did well with grips and accuracy but because of joint issues in my hands I had trouble with the slides and triggers. It can take a long time to find the perfect tools and your channel has helped immensely!
Great video. Excellent information. I’ve been a CCW holder for about a year and a half now and started with a Taurus G3. After going to the range consistently with it, I became very comfortable with it. So I purchased a G3C as my EDC weapon for the exact reasons you mentioned. I’m comfortable with the triggers, sights and overall feel of these guns in my hand. I know there are better guns out there, specifically Glocks, but my thought is that I should be better with the gun I have rather than be a bad shooter with a better gun. Thank you both for sharing all your knowledge and experience. Be safe everyone.
I just have a P365 as my general purpose pistol. XMacro frame when I'm at home and when I'm wearing heavier clothing, and regualr frame when I need it to be more concealed. No better match than one gun matching itself. If not the SIG, I would go with a Canik TP9 and a MC9, as the MC9 can still use the same mags as the full size. And with the new GX4 Carry, that could be a good budget sub for the SIG if you can find a separate grip module to do the swap.
I like this concept. My carry gun is a compact PDP and my bedside gun is a full size PDP. They both have the same optic. The difference is that the bigger one has a compensator and bigger flashlight, in addition to the greater magazine capacity and longer barrel.
My home defense gun used to be a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 1.0, and my concealed carry gun was a Shield Plus. I had issues with ejecting the magazines because they would get hung up on the heel of my hand. For me, the ideal Shield would have a longer grip with a flush 15-round mag. Then I found the Sig P365 X-Macro TacOps. To me, this is the perfect carry gun. Slightly smaller than a Glock 19, 17+1 capacity, with a full grip that fits me like it was made for my hand. I can carry it under just a polo shirt with no problems, even easier with a coat in cooler weather. It’s my “one gun for both” home defense and CCW. I like it so much I bought a second one.
My home self defense is a 12 Gauge with Buckshot. I got the Canik MC9 also for EDC. What impressed me is the accuracy and the unbelievable forgiving trigger. The follow up shots are fast and accurate. I can defensive shoot 20 yards good hits on target no problem with iron sights. I haven’t put a red dot on it yet. It can play both rolls EDC and home self defense with the 15 Round magazine included. You get so much for your money with Canik. My favorite EDC handgun I’ve owned.
Good points. This video brought up some useful stuff that I hadn't thought about before. Personally, I conceal carry a full sized 1911, so it serves that role as well as being my home defense weapon and my fun to shoot weapon. And that has been really fun to train with a lot. My previous conceal carry was an old Smith and Wesson J-frame that I inherited from my grandmother when she passed, and it always made me feel like an undercover cop in the 50s or 60s lol. Also, this channel made me get passionately into the training aspect of owning firearms, and I've been taking my friends out to train too so that all my people know how to be safe and well prepared. So thank you for that!
Glock 45 MOS when conducting firearms training along with Glock 43X for backup because I will often swap the G45 with a blue gun for demos while teaching. I'm not averse to concealed carrying full size pistols. The worse thing about Glocks continues to be the triggers that I have to replaced. Better all around pistols for me are H&K VP9/40 fully ambi, best grip, way better trigger. For home defense ... Shotgun!
Excellent video and I think you're spot on. I've been competing for over 20 years and concealed carrying for close to 10 years and I have naturally found myself competing with a Glock 34 and carrying a Glock 43x or Glock 43. I see quite a few folks that will shoot USPSA with one gun and carry something totally different.... this concerns me. You just got yourself another subscriber. :)
Thats is a difficult task for sure. I started out with a G19 gen 4 for everything. Home defence edc and comp. Then i realised i dont only have to have one gun. Bought a 17 gen 5 with a x300 for home defence. Where we life its very warm and humid and even the 19 gets hot and heavy after a while. I then started looking around and got my self a 43x with a couple of shield mags. Best decision for me for edc. Could not be more happy with it. Is it a good fighter? Nope but i have done a couple of FA training courses with it and it rocks! Love it. But yes a one gun system is not ideal
I always say that in a panic, you do what you always do, or you do what you see on TV. Any tool, flashlight, gun, or whatnot that might be called on in a stressful situation applies here. The less you train, the worse this problem will be, but you can never get past it. It was an experience with a flashlight approaching a car on fire in the middle of the night that taught me this lesson.
I'm in California so I'm thinking of a Glock 17 for home defense and a Glock 19 for carry. I can't get the G42 here and the G26 seems too small for me.
Hey Guys I carry the Mete MC9 for concealment and ease of availability but have the Elite SC for home bedroom blaster!!! And some longer weapons!!! You are correct!!
Agree on similar arms for home and concealed, but not exact. My EDC is an Sig P938, 1911ish, but basically the same manual of arms. Federal 150 Gr HSTs. My home and winter when clothes allow it is a Kimber Ultra CDP II with crimson trace laser grips with Federal 230 HSTs and I believe they are +P.. Never use the laser, just test it with one mag when at the range, too distracting, but at 2:00 AM with no lights on, I don’t care if the little light bounces a few inches! Your theory but with 1911’s instead of striker fire.
Takes the same ammo. That's a big plus right there. Also, don't have to buy a different kind of ammo, which saves money. Ammo isn't exactly too cheap at the moment. I own and carry S&W M&P Bodyguard .38 and I just got a Taurus 856 Ultra Lite. My preferred home defense gun is the Taurus Judge Magnum though. I like that it shoots shotgun shells and the familiarity of a revolver.
The walther pdp f is perfect for a combo home/carry it standard 15 round, very concealment and you can buy additional 18 round mags are great as a secondary to your primary against a 4 man Jihad fire team in your home 😂. Now if you excuse me, gotta finish this John Wick movie 😂 Side note * ditch the schmuck 😂 I'm kidding of course...
I don't agree with the 42 as a ccw & paired up with the 34... the theroy is spot on, but t I us rd the 19 mos for home and the 48 for roam... great vid guys...
Mac, a while back you recommended watching Active Self Protection, which I am now seriously addicted to (JK). But if you do watch those they strongly recommend AGAINST carrying a firearm in a bag because of the significant increases of snatch and grab robberies targeting bags. Stav is quick, but cannot be constantly anticipating someone suddenly grabbing her bag. Especially if she isn’t with you.
I'm my 20yrs of law enforcement I can say I've delt with way more assaults & kidnapping attempts than forcefully purse grabs. A gun on you is better than if it's home in the safe....the purse snatch thing does happen but it's rare...it usually a purse that is left on a chair or cart that's grabbed not pulled off the person's body....just what I have seen.... Mac
I carry the old school OG shield have been for 13 years and carry Diamondback DB9 on ankle or in pocket. I have been thinking about getting the S&W shield Plus for awhile now for home defense. But I have a 32 round clip for the regular OG shield and I think it’s more than enough to get the job done. I bought two of these back in 2014. The 32 round clips and haven’t been able to find them since. They’re made by a company Called ShadowX. Not sure if they’re even in business any longer. But been working on getting a Mossberg Maverick 88 for overall home defense. Used to own one but was stolen in 2014. But the shield ago and the shield Plus would be my duo of carry and home defense for handguns. Hopefully pick up the plus here soon. Great video and now subbed. Be well
I did hear that. And maybe my touch isn't sensitive enough. I just didn't experience a noticeable difference in the recoil of the two. We switched my wife's 42 to a 43. She likes it as well as she does my 19, and I don't have to find 380 ammo.
For some reason I thought you guys both preferred the M&P series from the Shield Plus to the full size . I get it about the grip angle. However, I shoot the P365 with better accuracy than my G43X or my LCR for concealed daily often carried firearms. Thats the Standard I use. Not grip angle.
In 1968 my issued service weapon was a Colt Official Police so I bought a Colt Cobra for off duty. Fast forward to retirement and it’s a 340PD (still own the Cobra) in a pocket holster.

I did the same, my carry is a g19 and my home defense is a g19. I bought two and practice with both. I do want to get a 17 or 34 for home defense.
That’s why the Glock 19x is so popular. It’s just a great all around gun. 👍🏽 it works great for concealed carry and home defense 🙏🏽💥💥
I love this kind of information! Thank you both.
This is a new concept to me. Glad i have a Glock 19 because it's kinda a median between a full size and compact plus it's what i can afford right now.
Thank you for the enjoyable and informative videos. Great to see both a man and woman giving their advice from experiences
Glock 19 is compact, 43 is subcompact.
@@jenHry-ng3pw the 26 is a subcompact , 43 is a micro 9 😄
Great example, Mac! Hockey sticks are exactly as you described them. They are very specific to experienced players. Same as the firearms. Excellent examples across the board. Keep up the great videos!
How about those 13 Bruins!
FN Reflex and FN 509 tactical. Both with red dots.
“Allegedly” deflated the footballs 😂😂😂
Great explanation. 😊
I run a 42 with two round extension myself and 43x for home with my eyes closed hard to tell the difference
great info Mac
My EDC is a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus and my home defense gun is the Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 😁😁 Love both guns and I don't feel much difference at the range when I take both. When home they are on opposite sides of the house so if I am on one side and someone busts through the door, I don't have to pass the entryway to get to one. Thanks for another great video!
Always great information presented clear and simple. Thank you for sharing ALL your passions.
Just got a G42 for pocket carry to go with my G19,26 and 43 for the reasons covered here.
Many great points!
Thanks as usual.
Stav needs to expand her business model to include restarting the Cancan products as an extension of She Equips Herself!
@@scottmackey4182 Definitely.
Love the video. I ccw a glock 43 have a 19 for home and a 45 for duty. I love the compatability of swapping mags or ammo for more rounds.
You guys are great🇺🇸
Great video.
Thanks for the insight - very interesting and helpful 😊
I just have a P365 as my general purpose pistol. XMacro frame when I'm at home and when I'm wearing heavier clothing, and regualr frame when I need it to be more concealed. No better match than one gun matching itself. If not the SIG, I would go with a Canik TP9 and a MC9, as the MC9 can still use the same mags as the full size. And with the new GX4 Carry, that could be a good budget sub for the SIG if you can find a separate grip module to do the swap.
Enjoyed this!! Very informative and fun!!
I like this concept. My carry gun is a compact PDP and my bedside gun is a full size PDP. They both have the same optic. The difference is that the bigger one has a compensator and bigger flashlight, in addition to the greater magazine capacity and longer barrel.
Agree edc g5 g26, home defense g5 g45 mos. My mags interchange. My only concern with glock 42 is the stopping power of .380 caliber
I LOVE WATCHING YOU. RON FROM JERSEY!
Thank You! Informative.
My Canik MC9 serves as both my EDC and home defense gun. I have extra capacity magazines that I swap to for home defense.
I am enjoying the beretta apx series
Great Video i enjoy Listening to Mac also
Good points.
Thanks for another great video
Good video I know you both are going to help people out with the information in this video 👍🏻 keep up the great work
I love when you do vidoes together!
Thanks so much. Very insightful... Good stuff!
I call this the principal of same-same. It’s useful in a wide variety of applications in life.
Thank you. ❤🙏❤️
Glock 19 for my home defense gun,Glock 43X my truck gun and Glock 42 is my concealed carry gun
I'm in California so I'm thinking of a Glock 17 for home defense and a Glock 19 for carry. I can't get the G42 here and the G26 seems too small for me.
check out a g22
@@TheRealEMURSE I bought the G17 and picked it up on Dec 16. The G22 is the same size. Why do you like 40S&W?
1st time I heard such a recommendation, however, it does make sense.
Great vid guys! thank you for addressing the swap from S+ to the Glock, I was extremely shocked but the reasons you gave are pretty good makes sense
Or one small gun (380) but when it's home put in a high capacity mag combined with a PPC conversion kit.
The walther pdp f is perfect for a combo home/carry it standard 15 round, very concealment and you can buy additional 18 round mags are great as a secondary to your primary against a 4 man Jihad fire team in your home 😂. Now if you excuse me, gotta finish this John Wick movie 😂
Side note * ditch the schmuck 😂 I'm kidding of course...
Good Video….. I paired my HK VP 9sk with a full size VP 9…. Love my Paddle Release
Mac
@@bobmacquarrie - I agree completely. Just pointing out that purse grabs are now happening with more frequency.
Be well
Great! You’re gonna make me go broke! Time to make some new purchases
Great sights…I believe the XR’s stand for extended range. Thanks for another great video guys 👌🏼💨🔫🇺🇸
Wow this was a good video. Using sports as an example is a great idea I never thought about that before.
"Honey, Mac said since I have a full size CZ 75 B for the home, it's best I get a CZ 75 PCR or P01 for out and about. Are there any sales on right now?"
You can blame me David if it gets you a new gun....I'll take that heat for you.....Mac
G34 for home and a g19 or g43x for carry depending on weather.
I have those sights on my G19. Money well spent.
EDC is a Sig P238. Thinking of getting a P938 or P220 or P226.
Mac~ Your comment on Trijicon HD XR night sights stand for EXTENDED RANGE not extra room which is completely wrong!!!!!!! Hope this helps... Love what you two are doing for the EDC fans out there.... Wish my Fiancé and I could meet you some time... Only prob is we live in new England area and we are in SE Michigan..... So a date and time would be a must.... We are huge fans of your channel!!!!
Good video, I am a Glock user for conceal carry and home defense + 12 gage loaded with buck shot and slug. I live in the south where most people were brought up with a gun in hand.
This is a very good point. Thank you
My question is, Why did you choose the 42 over the 43? The 43 uses the same 9mm ammo. That's one less to buy.
They covered that by talking about the recoil impulse being more similar between the larger and smaller guns they have.
Great video, very informative as always!!! Thank you
