Keith Moon, thank you for making me smile. Thanks for your infectious personality and for beating the everliving shit out of the drums like no one has before or since. The world could use more people like you.
This promotional video was shot about ten years after The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, where The WHO performed "A Quick One (While He's Away). This was one of Keith Moon's last performances.
They played this version of the song on the radio for DECADES with Daltrey clearly screaming "Who the fuck are you!". It wasn't until after 9/11 that they were forced to play a cleaned up version on the radio.
You were born a few decades too late. I entered hs in 1972. All these bands youre choosing were at the height of their powers and creativity.. A special time as it turns out. These were the days where you'd stack the turntable with records and listen to complete sides, then when the stack was done, you'd flip the stack over and listen to the other sides. The best part was, before the internet, all these bands had to tour to promote their albums. Being I was a long island kid, Madison square garden, radio city was just a train ride away and the nassau Colosseum was a hop on the parkway. There were so many great legendary bands it seemed you could see a great show every week. They all passed through NY and played both arenas. There was nothing like a packed 20,000 seat arena with a band like the who blowing the roof off the place.
Moon the Loon! One of the main reasons I started playing drums as a kid. I have a copy of this album on red vinyl - must have been one of the first to use color.
This was an excellent different version so great you did this(as you see their characters here) BUT i'd also do the regular version to see it done totally straight.
My third favorite song by my third favorite group in the world!!!! I saw these guys in 1980 in concert and was privileged to see Stevie Ray Vaughan as the backup group! They played at ASU's basketball stadium the activity center!!! It was in the middle of summer here in Phoenix and the power went out because of a monsoon thunderstorm!! It got incredibly hot inside with 14,000 people and they came back out when the power was back on and Rodger daltrey said something to the effect: we thank YOU for waiting for US!!! All I can say is it was a great concert and it was the first concert after Keith Moon had passed away!!
This was close to the end, I believe Keith Moon died later that year. It is an awesome vid, showing the camaraderie and personalities of the band members.
God I love these four together - so much talent, so much good spirit, so much ROCK!!! Just incredible on every front. And Pete so underrated as a player. His guitar is just so damn hot on this take (this is NOT the one that made it to the album, if you were wondering. Any Who fan worth their salt can tell!) Great video, keep up the great work!
Great song again, and well-reacted. Funny, they got away with saying "who the fu** are you?" on FM radio for about 4 decades before I started noticing it being "blipped" at that spot during radio play. I always wondered why it to so long for it to be censored. The Rolling Stones did have a song censored, first kept off radio, then eventually allowed on after their offending moments were censored out. Very sad that it was not too many months after this that we lost Keith. In a bit of sort of haunting irony, on the back of this album cover there is a photo of the band, with Keith sitting backwards on a director's chair facing the camera, on the back of the chair are the words, "Not To Be Taken Away," which caused some buzz in the record shop biz when he died only a short time after the album was released.
I've always enjoyed this promo video, but musically the album version is better. They have Nicky Hopkins sitting in on piano, and there's a whole other verse that they left off here. But still, this reaction was a treat!
TV show? What the hell? Why is it that kids tend to relate a song to a TV show, a video game, a meme, sampled backgrounds, and other crap that came way after the song was made and the band was a superstar? I hate it when rappers do this too... matter of fact, I hate most rap music nowadays. Instead, think more about Blondie and the good stuff from the eighties.

You picked the best version to play. You see each persons personality. Keith was amazing. Got to see him twice.
The great Keith Moon plays his drums like a LEAD GUITAR!!!!!!
Greatest Rock Band Ever
Gotta love Keith Moon's face 4:12
Did you notice Keith has his headphones taped to his head?😅
John is supposed to have said touring with the band was like looking after 3 naughty children!!
Seeing The Who in the early 70s was a mind-stunning experience. The show was supersonic loud and you were hypnotized by their power and talent.
Classic Rock at its best
That's why the bands nickname for John was "The Ox."
Quadrophenia has to be reacted to. You won’t be disappointed!✌🏻🏴

More like 1971 when the album came out. I saw the in 1971 with Wishbone Ash as opener. Jim

On the actual recording it was Rod Argent from the Zombies and Argent playing the piano.
Fantastic song and band. Notice that Keith's headphones were taped to his head so they wouldn't go flying off.
Keith Moon 1978
This is what it looks like when your passion is your life. Hard work and fun times!

I had never heard this version, great discovery and reaction!
Great reaction!

While you really do near to hear the full length album version of the song, that clip is my favourite music film clip of all time. By anyone.
A Quick One While He's Away, was the song at the Rock N Roll Circus

This was 1978 ten
years after the Stones Rock n Roll Circus
Another side of The Who are their songs "Behind Blue Eyes", “I Can’t Explain” and “Love, Reign O’er Me”. They have so many great tunes!
Doesn't Keith Moon remind us all of a certain Pauerful Mexican drummer!?!? 😜🤘
Please react to another great song of the who called: "baby don't you do it" from the album Who's Next (deluxe version) you are gonna get crazy
❤❤🤘🤘🎶🎶

Sorry, but it was Rod Argent on the piano parts - not Nicky Hopkins.
@@alrodack4695 Thanks!
Sad state of affairs when this song is only recognized as a TV theme song. Very sad.
This is a fun video but do the album cut it's a lot longer.
Do however much i booze
