Was dating a man for a bit less than 2 months. We had known each other for years prior to us both getting divorces. He had hit 5 out of the 7 here. Everything was going in the right direction. Chemistry, attraction, common backgrounds with family and our adult children. Then one evening after he had made me dinner, he was confiding in me some very specific details about his childhood with his mom, and then about his ex. He told me how much trust he had in me. We were so close it was surreal. Then he left to use the bathroom and when he came back he didn't even want to hug or sit next to me as we had been. It was like a switch went off and he became platonic. We ended it a week later, but remain passing friends. Another friend who knows him and felt we would be a great couple was sad to hear the outcome and felt he may be a commitment phobe (whatever that means). I had to let it go and try not to think about the "what ifs". When you find someone that is such a good fit later in life it is difficult to see them throw it away, most likely out of fear or past treatment.
Sad to hear that such thing happened to you. But believe! It's 100% possible to heal and create something new. ❤
@@Mat_Shaffer I appreciate the kind words, but as a fit, healthy 57 year old woman (that didn't let herself go) who is usually mistake for being 45, healing is not difficult. What is difficult is finding a man who isn't looking for a booty call or a nurse maid. I believe many single women in their 50s can attest to the fact that healthy men in their 50s want women in their 40s and even 30s. It is disheartening to say the least. Blessings to you
....he must have regretted exposing those personal details and felt the facade he'd created around them had fallen when with you... He wasn't truly comfortable exposing his underbelly then ran away. With you he would always have to face that truth.... he wrote it into your story together
@nearly somewhere I'm 68 & still looking. It doesn't get better. Most older men are looking for a nurse or a purse. All I learned from my 5 year marriage was that it's better to be alone than with the wrong person. Still hoping for a happy ending tho...just better happen soon.

Some men moves slowly. Be careful he is perfect and you're misreading him. Be a little bit more patient. My husband was a bit slow but I picked up on others areas that allows me to like him at early stages until we both grew together. I was slow too.now I am looking back at the young me. Five months is pretty short, be patient please.
Teach him how to talk...most man doesn’t talk or doesn’t know how to express their emotions. You might need to lighten up for him to feel comfortable talking.

@@zen_mindset1 after a very toxic relationship I did a lot of self love and deep dive of knowing myself. Treating myself to massages, flowers, taking myself out to eat and talking kindly to myself. Don’t give up and know you are worthy of a good partnership 💗 it didn’t happen over night it took years and lots of self work
I've had two really bad relationships, I worked on myself. I have found a wonderful man, and I'm so happy to say it's a seven out of seven. I feel so lucky to have met him.

My friend who is already in a long term relationship involving children says/asks these types of phrases and questions a bit...
All but the last one of course.
The guy I was dating had used 7 a form of 6, he didn't say I'm excited to meet my mom, but he did seem excited when I met her.
He would ask me how I was feeling, but not the follow up phrase.
Also during a conversation him and I had he mentioned feeling safe, feeling connected with me....
I ended our relationship due to thinking he didn't have strong feelings for me...

A BIG idea Mat is GIVING AND RECEIVING. As a mother, a nurturer, a giver I can give and give and give YET if he just receives and receives without giving back , eventually that dynamic is going to wear thin and break. An example: With my ex, I'd work my business, come home clean, fix dinner, do laundry and resented the fact he sat on the sofa and never helped. Well I asked for help but he was so used to RECEIVING he didn't know how. Now in a new relationship, I find myself at times having to hold back so my partner can give to me. In this way I'm not overwhelming him and he feels good about where our relationship is going. And the bonus - I don't feel angry/resentful

For some reason I keep seeing these pop up on my home page. I remember when I wanted a man to love me so bad. Now I don't want to be in a relationship with anyone at all. It's so freeing. Is that really wrong? 🤔😬 I was just telling the truth… We have so much fun and always laugh our heads off together. He did say I would love his teammates if I had met them. The guy I have been involved with online has said all those things plus he told me he is addicted to me...If I tell him I didn't eat or sleep he tells me I have to do it to keep healthy...
Due to my own traumas I have difficulty in believing him and have tried to get him to go away (he wont) but in reality I just want him to get closer which makes him think I don't care...We are planning meeting soon so I enrolled in your course so I can lessen my chances of blowing it with him..

But not very many of others, like he doesn't say things like: "I'm so excited for you to meet X.." " How are you feeling?"; " Why are you feeling that way?"

Mine did not just ask how he can help me but went ahead and booked a hair appointment for me...
He has said he has so much fun with me.
He wants to show me off to his people and friends
Number 4 yes we have talked about it. We both have kids and we just want to have fun with our children.
He asks everyone day how I am feeling.
He wants to know why I feel like that especially stress in the office.
He said I make him feel whole. Complete.

My ex wanted to introduce me to his friends by organizing a drinking event where I would have been the only woman and he also warned me that they usually drink until they don't even know what they are doing and I would have to drive him home and leave him alone for the following two days because this is how long his hangover usually lasts. So I don't think introducing the woman to his friends is always a sign of love.

Within the first half hour of meeting and talking at a party, my man who would be my soul mate husband of twenty-five years, he knew I was the One, and I knew he was, too. Lucky you....I finally got lucky the same way and it lasted 41 fabulous years. He passed away several mos ago. I am getting out and meeting new people since all our friends were couples.
I have a question. How do males and females bond with each other? I don't see how men and women can bond (especially romantically) with each other. Men and women think very differently from each other.
Women can build incredible friendships and become very close to each other in a way men can't bond, and science shows that women can bond very well with each other. Generally, women are even more social than men are. After something bad happens, a woman quickly rushes to talk to all of her female friends to get support, whereas a man can isolate himself and grief alone.
Women tend to be more emotionally intelligent, more caring, more empathic, more compassionate, more affectionate, more loyal, more nurturing, more understanding, more sympathetic, more sensitive, more kind-hearted, more peaceful, more calmer, more gentle, more expressive, more intuitive, and more outward than men are, and thus bond more with other women in a special way that they can’t with men. Men, on the other hand, are not that emotional, and thus can’t bond with other men in a special way. Women regulate emotion better.
Women are more comfortable being around with other women than they are with men. They have a type of bond that usually men with women won’t really have, or with men and men. Also, girls that are friends touch each other in ways that guys just don’t.

Specific Question: What do men mean when they say, "You make me feel like a man?" One man told me that a long time ago, who I believe genuinely loved me. Decades later, another man said it to me but I later realized he was a user / exploiter. I'm glad I have that impact on a man, but what does it mean?
I would look up characteristics of men and that should give you the answer. For the most part they like to feel like the protector and the provider. Someone who solves your problems and keeps you safe. So you must have allowed them to feel this way. Some men complain if a woman is too independent…that makes them feel like “less of a man” because they’re not sure what role to play if they feel like you don’t need them.

My ex said ALL these to me, plus I was the best thing that EVER happened to him..then he tried hitting on my best friend right in front of me and HER boyfriend 🤯 after that, he got distant, critical and judgemental of me and turned all the vulnerability I gave to him against me😞 he said he used me and I was just an option at the time..he was always talking about how bad his exes were, but I was different..just don't get it..made me very angry and naive..I believe that actions speak louder than words..you can say whatever you want to get what you want for that moment, but I realize now, i fell for a narcissistic sociopath that only loves money, the mirror and thinks he's Hugh Hefner 🙄

Yes narcissists are tricky. I was married to one for over 5 years. They change from this fake amazing person to their real slimy selves so slowly that you don’t realize how much has changed and how horrible they are until you finally break away and have time to process and look back on it with a clear head. It’s literally insane how different the guy was when I first met him compared to when I really knew who he was.

I have a relationship building (for a short time now) through social media, So needless to say we haven't met in person only texts and pictures... It's enthralling but slightly overwhelming that our connection seems to be so strong so quickly... The brief time we've known one another he is already said each of the 7 and more ❤️... At my age it's quite surprising that a man could fall for me and I could fall for him... I tend to be an overthinker and so I'm worried I'm dreaming... Tonya, I would be wary of any connection that seems to be unusually intense or very strong over a short period of time. Chances are that a very rapid intense attachment doesn't have healthy roots. I would recommend looking up "limerence" and learning a bit about that and considering if that might be relevant to your situation. I personally like how "Crappy childhood fairy" on youtube discusses this.
I'd also say that if your gut is giving you the question of "is it too good to be true?" and the experience is slightly overwhelming, these are signals not to be ignored. It's valuable and useful information.

@@user-jk4jj4nm1q Most German men are not great love talkers. They tell you that they love you and that they think you're great, but they don't tell you too much. Of course there are exceptions. They show you in one way or another that you mean something to them. But they are miles away from the 7 things a man says according to Mat.

I'd just like to know a woman's take on how to know if a woman is falling for a man, because what a man typically WANTS a woman to show/say that makes him think she's in love with him versus what a woman actually does typically never line up with each other. So, he's always wondering is she's sincere and if he really can trust her.
I think men get confused because women are taught not to ever be rude, to smile all the time (men will even order us to smile when passing on the street…it’s so bizarre), and to be careful not to hurt others’ feelings. We’re labeled a “bitch” often if we don’t follow these rules. Because of this I think it can make it a lot harder for you guys to know when we’re truly interested, because you wrongly assume women are subtle like you are (so you try to read between the lines and you see things that aren’t there).
Women are much more open with their emotions (because they aren’t shamed out of them from an early age by being told toxic garbage like “stop acting like a little girl” or “be a man”). So we don’t beat around the bush like a man does. We will literally say “I love you.” And we will initiate hanging out. You can definitely tell when a woman is in love, so if you have to wonder then it means she’s not there yet or may never be.
