The germans are really keen on compaction, hence so many reknown compaction equipment manufacturers from there. You are ahead of the curve by employing compaction where and when most would skip. You are a true professional excavation contractor. Just look at the autobahn and its duration to prove the concept.

Man, when I watch you operate, its so soothing. Its really hard to watch some other operators run equipment because of how hard they push it. There are only a few dirt works UA-camrs that I can tolerate watching, this is, without a doubt my favorite one.

That's a good job of saving some money by 'stepping' the clean rock and dirt backfill. Good seeing you on alert about saving needless wasted rock/aggregate. Well done!

Just goes to show, over dig makes more room for the base building and extra space to fill up when backfilling. Always have to be thinking ahead. Great example of the process of backfilling too.

It's a padfoot roller, not sheepsfoot. They are completely different. A padfoot is designed for clay type soil. The pad is intended to shear the clay and mechanically break the Van der Vaals effect that electrostatically binds the soil particals together. The pad ends are angled to avoid kicking out the soil as the pad exits the hole it has made ( unlike a sheepsfoot)
The father of vibratory compaction is generally regarded to be Dr Lars Forsblad (deceased) Sweden. He determined 1960/70 soil/rock 1800 vibrations per minute, asphaltic concrete 3000 vpm, Portland cement concrete 12,000 vpm.
LD18 is top operator in not using vibe close to the walls. I would have with that small machine, but only on half vibration
