The fact that Door to Nothingness comes in to play tapped is such a flavour win. It's like: "You got 1 turn to whip up a plan before I send you to the shadow realm"
its there so you can not use it as an infinite mana wincon... Nothing to do with flavor, its actually kinda dumb. So there is this door on mirrodin where i can throw planeswalkers ( like the players ) in and they die? Why is no villain using this door? Does memnarch know about it? Its not legendary so how many are there? Card has terrible flavor sadly :(
@@jasenandstuff yeah, manifold is strictly better and in addition to untainted DTN and mana rocks, you can untap a coretapper to ramp if you don’t have anything better to do

2 things: 1: I have had the tron lands for quite a while now, but have never had a reason to play them since I'm not a fan of the typical ramp into Karn, Eugene, or Eldrazis. 2: I have loved Door to Nothingness since I started playing MtG, but have never actually slotted it into a deck since it's 10 specified mana and enters tapped, just too hard to work with. So now.... I am truly happy, this is super super awesome, gonna build it on MtGO tonight.
THANK YOU!! I bought the doors a while ago thinking they where a funny card and i was hoping so hard that this deck would be built by you. Thanks a lot and keep up the deck building!
I really like the idea of Karn, the Great Creator in this deck and having an Orrery, a Golos and a Door in the sideboard so you can see your combo pieces more often. Also a non zero amount of Crucible of Worlds in the sideboard for those Ponza matchups seems really solid. Great vid nonetheless! Good job SethbetterknownasSaffronOlive hahaha
(4:50) With Un-Set rules Chromatic Orrey with Sphinx of the Guildpact would let you draw at least 6 (might be more since Unhinged). Because Unhinged had a Pink Giant Teddy Bear token. [Edit] Just looked at the article. I don't really know what is available on Arena, but I just have a feeling it might Against The Odds Panharmonicon (on Arena).
Finally! I've been tinkering with Door to Nothingness for years. When we returned, again, to Ravnica, I ran it with gates but it was so slow and fragile. I could sneak out a jank win here and there... but this... this is so much better. Make Door Great Again!
15:00 Why not hold open Blast Zone? If you do that they can't play any 1 drops or 2 drops since you may or may not uptick it. It even insulates you against Ghost Quarter because they can't use it against open mana (though nothing you can do really beats Ghost quarter here)
Just bought the deck with the exception of the chalice of the void, due to price. I'm planning on cutting the key for a 2nd all is dust mainboard, after seeing how clutch it was in your matches!
There should be a week where he plays battle of wits every day or something it would be wicked. There is just so much that can be done with battle of wits. This deck is also amazing btw
At 24:00 the field alone wouldn’t stop the door kill. If they used field AND used Kaya to kill map, they would be alive. But just the field wasn’t enough bc you could just use a waste and a weaker tron land to reassemble tron, tap tron for 5 mana and orrery for the other 5
I played a Chalice Corucopia charge counter deck in casual. Unwinding clock is insane there if you have any mana sinks and would allow you to destroy the opponent in his draw step :D also I used lots of proliferate effects.
blast zone beats giver of runes though! Protection doesn't 'protect' against board wipes. 15:11 Am I wrong? Opponent plays 2 arbiters so maybe I'm missing something.
That poor second op seemed to be having a bit of a time learning to run the deck. I'm still wondering why they decided to exile two cards from their own GY with Kaya... they didn't even gain life or anything from it.
23:44 I forgot about the 4 or less clause in vintage cube once so I'd be inclined to think that's what happened if it weren't constructed. An RTFC moment seems less likely if they've played with the card a bunch of times before. It seemed to me like they knew that door was killing them and they meant to exile it with apparition but Seth is probably right. Nobody plays against door to nothingness in modern.
Everflowing Chalice seems like it would always be better than Cornucopia to keep in this deck during sideboard, being 2 mana per charge counter vs 3 mana, given that you already have a weird setup for your colored mana anyways.
Definitley feel like you should have been trimming surge node more often when sideboarding. Card seems fine, but pretty situational, where as chalice is always at least castable for 2.
I used to play door to nothingness when it came out in fifth dawn. I played it with doubling cube and got a lot of wins with that deck. That was when all I played was paper, there was no MTGO. I used to troll my opponents whenever I activated Door to Nothingness, I would say “ It seems like you want to exit this game. Let me show you the door.” LOL
You may spend Mana as if we're any color, that doesn't change the type of Mana you generate. Monument and orrery should work fine together. I don't think monument ramps well here as a 5 drop though. Game plan is mostly casting early ramp for better payoffs later, like board wiping with all is dust, golos for the free spins, and orrery / sphinx / door for the big plays. At 5 Mana monument is going to spend more of it's utility in this deck gaining you life than anything else.
Thankfully, this deck abhors the thought of adding Karns and Wurmcoils and other traditional game enders at that mana cost. The only cards that are the same are Tron Lands, Expedition Map, and All is Dust. I've seen Tron builds try to run Golos, but they never came close to this level of madness.
I think I would 100% bring in Grafdigger's Cage vs. Vizier all day every day (game 4) It knocks out a ton of consistency in their deck by shutting off Coco and Chord.
would this deck like forsaken monument? maybe in the sideboard? also what about rare karn. im guessing the deck was built to be as different from regular tron as possible
Eh, they lose if they field too. If they do it on their turn Seth has extra mana from wastes to crack map and ends up with ten mana assuming he doesn't tap tower before replacing his missing Tron piece. If they wait till his turn he just responds with door.
I got the eighth like! It’s door, that has always been one of my favorite cards even since I first began. There was no way I wasn’t going to like this one Edit: IT WORKED! IT REALLY WORKED! IM SO HAPPY
