@@Rambling_Hick I don't mind at all bud. Its an 05 but the motor, trans and front end is an 08. Supposedly everything is the same. The only difference I have found so far is the oil filter.
@@Rambling_Hick I wouldn't expect for there to be much difference. Bolt sizes may be different. Make sure you shine that connection plate up really good though lol
Every other video has one of the bolts behind a metal bracket but yours doesn’t. Now I’m confused . I have an 08 ram and need to replace my stater so I’m looking at UA-cam for instructions.
persuazion1 I’m willing to bet yours is 4WD. I have the same issue. This caused some minor grief and more specifically: Shallow Wall 15mm for top bolt and DEEP WALL for lower bolt Also note there is enough wiring to drop the starter and remove when it’s lowered
Dan Pace that was noice bro, mine clicks once and nothing else. Did you replace the solenoid or is that in the starter also? Was told it was on top of the starter.
The solenoid was on the starter when I bought it. It all come off as one piece. If yours is clicking fast multiple times it probably just a bad connection on your battery. If it is only one then it could be your starter. Hope this helps!
Dan Pace yeah mine wound up being a bad terminal connector. Cost like 7 bucks & 5 minutes to replace. Only thing was that I had to use a file to make the hole bigger for the bolt to go through. The factory ones are super small, the replacements are like 1/2 size.
Flash Gordon I'm glad you got it figured out bud. There is always something going to be difficult. I just did a kerosene flush on my truck. I was having oil issues with random fluctuating between perfect and zero pressure while driving. At first I thought it was a sensor but then I could hear the engine sounding funny. I've only driven about 2 miles but so far its good. I did an oil change and then let 2 gallons of kerosene soak in the oil pan / motor for about 6 hours. I hope it works!
Dan Pace yeah I've heard ppl try that but not leave it in for very long, especially in today's motors. Seafoam seems to be basically the same thing though, run it for almost 200 miles then change the oil. Good luck, hope it works.
my husband has a 08 dodge ram 2500 everything is aftermarket on it tho, and the starter thats in it and the new one have 3 bolts and we cant get that 3 bolt off, there is a metal bar, that is right in front of that 3rd bolt??do we have to take that bar off??please help?
I have a 07 dodge ram 1500. When i turn the key trying to start the truck. It doesnt turn over I want to show you a video of what its doing maybe you could let me know what it could be. Cause this is my first truck.
Does it just make a click sound? If it just makes a click, it is probably your starter or it could be a dead battery. You can get a voltage reader to test the battery. It should have atleast 12volts. Make sure the connection is good too. If there is alot of build up corrosion, that will also make it not start. Just explain the symptoms and how it started happening. I'll do my best to help you out
@@aceofpace1378 when I try to start my truck when I turn the key the starter whines makes a little humming sound sometimes it grinds I have to turn the key on and then off and then on and off about nine times to just get it started
@@shermanakabear1679 step one is the easy stuff first. Check that battery good first. If it can't send enough power to the starter it could cause the sound
No sir . No seals or oils. The wiring harness slides right off. Once you take off the mounting bolts, it can fall so take the wire harness off first if you can. Then take off the bolts but keep your hand on it to make sure you don't bust your face.

Mine isn't 4 wheel drive. The wire is easy enough to get it off so why risk it. Something small like that could cost hours if it gets dropped and there isn't enough slack. If the truck is on a ramp or lift you'd run out of wire slack fast.
Sweet! Thanks for this video! Helped out ! 🎉

on an 03 to 05 year ram, the mounting bolts is a 16MM and not a 15MM. I think it was changed starting for the 2006 model year
My body is an 05 but my front end, motor and tranny is an 08 I was told when I bought it. I haven't ran into many things that were different yet.
what if you break the gd wire clip?? 😰
Man that stinks. That's above my experience there.

Always remove Negative cable First
Great video, thanks
Ben Nunyour you're welcome! I hope it helped!

This is 2wd im guessing
Yeah, but it should be the same as a 4x4
Yah but 4x4 harder to get to lol butbi got mine done
ALWAYS disconnect the NEGATIVE (Ground) battery cable FIRST.......
Why?
Isaiah Soucy Because when remove the positive cable first, if you touch that cable to anything grounded under the hood, you’ll create a short.
That makes sense, thanks!
