Thank you for sharing this video. I had then exact same problem with my 07 dodge looks just like your truck in the video. I ended up replacing the starter. Now it runs like champ. 👍
Yup, easier as frig. Just like ya said. Mine was doing exact same thing. New starter is like "twing ding" and then Hemi barks lol Thanks for the quickie vid bro. I was done in 15 min
Thank you. I just needed to know where the starter was on my 2015 Ram 1500. Turns out it's in the same spot. Thankfully for me, smacking mine with a screwdriver made it go again. lol
Glad you did this. Cause its on the opposite side as normal. I was under the passenger side. And didn't see it. The rest is the same. But placement. Weird.
My Ram 1500 would periodically fail to start but was getting worse the past few weeks. When I turned the key I would just get one click. So per your video I started taking the starter out. just as I was removing the last wire on top I noticed it was not very tight. So, I have decided to tighten it and wait and see what happens. I'll keep you posted..
Hey!! Great video!! I just replaced the starter in my 08 ram. Ur video was spot on and really made the difference between me spending a fortune or doing it myself. Many thanks. Hot yourself a new sub.. 🤙✌🤜🤛👍😁
Thank you, Great video! I wanted to add some advice. My lower bolt was too tight to turn. Removing the top bolt, loosened up the lower bolt enough for me to remove it .
Hey Joey good video. I was just wondering if you had this problem? It rained and somehow the rain got into the truck. It started after that but after a week it stopped. It now says remote start canceled hood open. My brother thinks the rain did something to the wires underneath the seats.
How did you get the two starter bolts out? I tried using an extension but there still isn't any room to ratchet it with the 4x4 drive shaft and exhaust in the way.
Thanks for the directions, so the bolts are 15mm and the selenoid one is 13mm, one of the 15mm Bolts is hard to manœuvre so i recommend a ratchet wrench..images.app.goo.gl/wn17DC4XVWep3bRC7 the other ones can take regular ratchet (Still plan for ratchet extension)
My truck wouldn't start coming out of the grocery store. I have a new battery. Replaced the alternator and the starter. Nope no luck. Towed to a mechanic. Mechanic said take it to a dealership after a diagnosis of module security system. GREAT! (Sarcasm). So they'll do a diagnostic at a charge of $150 and probably a $900 fix. All because something in the anti theft alarm system went awry! LOVE ELECTRONICS!
I have a 2008 Dodge SXT 1500 (exact same looking vehicle as yours on this video, but not a HEMI) . do you know if they are the same way for changing starters?
So, with my 2004 dodge ram I go to start it n I get 1 click n nothing more, there is electric throughout the dash. I've tried 5 times, I think its the starter, The alternator I just replaced n the battery is 3 years old. So if someone (who knows) can confirm that it sounds like the starter, I would appreciate it.
dont know if you can help, but i just replaced my starter and once we tried to start the truck it just sounded like the starter was turning but not engaging the engine... any advice 2ould be appreciated.
It's always safer to remove the ground cable first (Not positive cable)before doing starter or any job that requires disconnecting the battery,, just so you no...
I hate when people who attempt to make a how to video do the job and try to describe what they did??? The reason most people what these crappy videos is to visually see how to fix a problem!!! SMH
@@JoeTaks How do you get the two bolts out? I can't see where there is any room for a wrench. How did you do it without removing the 4x4 drive shaft and exhaust?
@@JoeTaks I tried various extensions all the way back to the 4x4 transfer case and don't have any room to ratchet. The gap between the drive shaft and the transmission is only an inch or two at the most. Are you using some kind of swivel?
Perfect video. Right to the point no extra junk. You're a life saver bud.
Despite being over 6 years old this video was super helpful, and I was able to replace the starter. Thank you!
Thank you. You’re only one you show where is it the starter. I’m watching two hours on UA-cam where is it. You make a good video.
Thanks! Coming from someone who isn't too mechanical, this helped me a lot!
Yup...the ol Dodge started finally gave out on my 05 with around 224,000. This video will be my guide. Thank you very much!

16 mm / 5/8" (same size) harness bolts and 13 mm power nut.
Just the sizes I needed for my 04 thanks. Now to get the damn wiring harness loose.
Nice vid. Thanks for being clear and concise, Interesting… the written instructions say to remove tire for better access….
Thanks! My ‘07 is stuck in the work parking lot. Going to fix this later today.
Yup, easier as frig. Just like ya said. Mine was doing exact same thing. New starter is like "twing ding" and then Hemi barks lol

Hey Joe, great video, saved my a lot of time under the truck in 32 degree temps with snow, Thanks, Skip
thank you . i are the first person to have the same issue with the starter having a big pull on the power.
Thank you! One of 2 videos that helped me get my truck up and running!
Always remove Negative cable First
Thank you. That was an excellent video. I will be attempting this tomorrow.
Thank you. I just needed to know where the starter was on my 2015 Ram 1500. Turns out it's in the same spot. Thankfully for me, smacking mine with a screwdriver made it go again. lol
Bro, I'm about to try that technique also
Mines shit the bed today and it worked once I hit it but I'm not sure how long it'll last
Good video! Thanks for posting.👍

My power wire comes loose every now and again as well, I have to tighten it at least once a year or else I start getting the old one click and nothing
Thanks a lot man my exact issue. Great video!

Good post. Quite helpful. It is MUCH EASIER to disconnect the 2 bolts BEFORE disconnecting the 2 electrical wires.
Thank you, Great video! I wanted to add some advice. My lower bolt was too tight to turn. Removing the top bolt, loosened up the lower bolt enough for me to remove it .
I got an 04 and couldnt find that 2nd bolt. Thnx man for the vid

I have a 2007, exactly. Gotta get down & dirty now & find a new starter. Thanks man!

It was still a b***h to change in 30° weather, but I can only imagine how much worse it would have been without this video. THANKS!

Darwin Begay I’d say they are similar I know I’m 2 years later but I have an 03 witha 3.7 and using this video so I can find the bolts lol
thanks for the vid.! was helpful
Big help, thanks bro.
Solid video.
Thank you for the video

Rick that's what I was thinking too🤔
Thanks...for the video sir
What size socket for that first starter bolt? Everything I tried is too big or too small...
the starter bolts are 16mm on mine
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
While replacing the starter, a bolt fell into the flywheel well. How do I remove it now that it's wedged in the flywheel?
A telescopic auto magnet can remove the bolt
Is it the same for a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500? Like same place
should be similar
Remove the negative terminal, not positive.
Or remove them both.
I noticed that error too. It’s the negative terminal you need to remove! 🤓🤪
Life saver
Thanks bro.. 👍 video..
Gracias
it's 15
thanks dude your a life saver.
its size it 15'
whys mine 16 then.
Vianna wifey 😍😂 jk
What's the bolt head size for the starter bolts ?
the second bolt looks like 1/2 or 9/16...or the equivalent metric size...12mm or 13mm...it would be nice if someone would post this...
+John Hopkin its been in the description the entire time the video has been up
Thanks
Same on an 04?
husq48 I assume it'd be similar
nut not screw!
Say the sizes 😬
Read the description 😬
👍
Thanks.
ALWAYS disconnect the NEGATIVE (Ground) battery cable FIRST......

DUDE.
WTF, I'm gonna throw up with the camera movement.
Oh sh*t, I didn't know I posted on this video 4 years ago! I had the 2003 Dodge at the time... That was a doggone good truck too... :'-/
But great vid
How did you get the lower bolt out? That’s the one I’m having trouble with
Thanks.
