The driver bit you need is called torx with security. It is like a hex star but it also has a hole in the middle to prevent using anything that is not the right thing. The correct size is the t8.
Actually it's t9,a t8 will work, but also strip it very easily. When choosing a bit u don't want ANY play when turning. Ud be surprised how perfectly the right bit fits
Doing a deep clean, changing the thermal paste and thermal pads can make your ps4 pro whisper quiet. Mine is the 7100b model. I did it with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and Gelid thermal pads and the results are amazing. Been quiet for 2months now.
You need to get to the FRONT of the heat sink, the other side to what youve shown. That's where the air gets sucked in to go through the heat sink where in turn any dust, hair, dirt will stick.
Here in 2022, bought a used PS4 Pro this time last year, for a while it was acting fine, after a while some games the fan would start sounding like a fighter jet in my room. Followed this guide, after I was done, some games still act the same, others that did the same run just fine now. May need to take one last dive in, clean out any remaining dust in the fan. But for the most part, it worked like a charm. Kinda got scared cause my first time round, the PS4 wouldn’t turn on. Figured out I messed up and I guess didn’t reconnect the battery after I was done. Went back and did that, and it’s working better than before like I said. Thanks for the guide!
11:10 what you're actually doing there is dispersing a carpet of dust that is stuck to the aluminium heatsink plates back into the fan which the fan will blow back into the plates but great that you tried, bro. Full rebuild looks pretty tricky
Thanks for not letting me waste my time lmao :p i stopped trusting dude when he didn't even know you need a special screw driver for the security screws
Ummm... okay... please look up a heat sink is. Once he took the battery out, you can see it clear as day. Get familiar with these terms, please. And look them up before talking if you don’t know.
You are the only video that points out the two screws on the underside that need removing before the power brick can be removed...legendary status achieved!
When removing the power supply disconnect from the power brick not from the motherboard because if you break it then it's easier to replace the power brick!
I'm sure u got ur answer by now... but thanks for the video and on the off chance you didn't; they purposely use hard to find screw-heads in order to force you to pay them to fix it instead of home repair being possible.
Those aren't hard to find screw heads, they're t8 security bits and are used on Xboxes phones and TV's Sony even shows you how to disassemble and clean your PS4
Lol this guy "I've had this for a year so I know a lot of dust has built up inside." Me laughing with a 7 year old PS4 Pro that's never been cleaned before
very helpful mainly because i never knew how to take out the power supply and clean the heat sink without taking out the motherboard oh and for those who dont know the screws that are hard to take out are the torx S2 T8 screws although im pretty sure T9/T7 works with them too
I did mine after about 2 years. got sick of it being louder then my TV. amazing how quite it is now. I put on my most taxing game. and barely nothing. so good
FYI don't play with your fan like a turn table. Fucks up the electronics and gears. Also don't blow air into your fan area out the back until you've removed the power supply.
I bought mine second hand, and when I opened up the top part the inside of it was yellow, what is it and what caused it? I tried cleaning with alcohol and a cloth but didn't get it off, guess the last owner wasn't responsible enough to actually clean and take care of his console!
XDinosteel yeah for me it was just a black circle and I was struggling but apparently you don’t need to screw it out After the first 4 I jus lifted it up, not too hard tho since there’s a plug attached I think only either base model PS4 have the middle bottom screw in or just random PS4 pros do
You missed showing two screws in the back and you didn’t even clean all that you advertised. Extremely poor video dude. Educate yourself before you try to educate others.
He did clean by using condensed air which is worse as it blows the dirt everywhere. But it's maybe thermal paste & pads he needs if it's noise problem & fan. On Amazon easy enough, but wouldn't let him near anything electric clearly doesn't understand clean.
The back didn’t wanna open I tried but it just cracked the back. My ps4 pro does turn on but only the blue light for a second and does nothing else. Nothing pops up on the tv.
Man I did every step right but idk how he maid the part where you disconnect the battery off and I tried to like gentle and the whole thing came off 😞 so no ps4 for me
What if you blow the dust out of the heat sink, but the dust is still there in the console....... Then by turning on, the dust will slowly stick to the heat sink again
Well listen I tried this but at the end of the day I go to 90% of where you got before I couldn’t take the last screws off and striped them. My last attempt at trying to reduce noise. And there was hardly any dust that I could get too. Somethings not right if mine is still sounding loud.
Emmanueling Is my PSN I used mine for about a year and only cleaned the fan thinking it’s clean and still wondered why it was so loud, until today I stripped it all and found my heat sink all clogged up
Theres no screw bro dont worry.... I thought it was too and I spent like 2 days tryna unscrew it, then I found out its just one of those black clips.... Just take of the four screws then gently lift the battery up, be careful theres a wire thats connected to it so dont pull the battery out too hard
@@xdinosteel2561 thats how I got mine out, on the older ps4 pro medls theres an actual screw there so 5 in total, just use the same screw driver you used for the other 4 screws
I couldn't open it up from above because it seems hard, maybe a different model or some short needed to remove some screws or something perhaps? Any help will be really appreciated folks!
You have to buy higher quality torx bits. The shit from China is nice and cheap, but at those small sizes the bit has to be PERFECT and those Chinese sets are sloppy and don't fit all the time
The driver bit you need is called torx with security. It is like a hex star but it also has a hole in the middle to prevent using anything that is not the right thing. The correct size is the t8.
is that the only way to open it is with the specific bit?
Actually it's t9,a t8 will work, but also strip it very easily. When choosing a bit u don't want ANY play when turning. Ud be surprised how perfectly the right bit fits
Yea. Don't take my word for it on the size. The one had was just perfect. Maybe it was the t9.

You are a genius, thank you for that, I can't even hear it now 👍
Finally a video with my ps4 bro this was helpful saved me 40$ 🙏
Thank you so much for making this 🥲❤️ mine sounded like a jet engine every time I ran MW2 and I couldn’t do it anymore
i brought a screw driver for those screws as they have a divit in the center of the head
make sure you hold the fan down if it spins the wrong way you can reverse charge it and brake all the electronics
you are the goat i had the ps4 pro for 3 year now and now my ps4 pro sounds like it just came out the box

You know when you say those 2 screws are out at 9:52.
I’m having so much trouble knowing if that back middle screw comes out or not? Pls reply ASAP
Torx security only, using regular Torx will not work or will work if you’re lucky
Super good video!!!! Thanks so much!! Cleaned a PS4 I just bought used
Damn this helped! I couldn’t find a video on my model, but you have the same one ❤️
Ps4 pro are all the same models
Do i have to take off the other side in order to clean out the heatsink? I only want to do a fan and heatsink clean
Yes to prevent dust buildup or dust that's trapped so it wont cycle again into the fan
what is the model of your ps4 pro?
In your opinion, which option is more appropriate, thermal paste for the PlayStation 4 pro console?
that angle of the air compressor - looks like you might be spraying some dust up into the heatsink lol
For some reason everyone left side is more harder to take off
Exactly same with my PS4 lmao
My man actually called the power supply the battery😂

guitars, amp, skateboard, ps4, headphones... pretty much identical to my room except my flooring are tiles and i dont have a projector screen

How do I clean the heat sink tho
I need help, where the battery is there is a black screw in the middle on top and i can't get it out.
It seemed that i am an actual retard i shall disappear from this video, thank you for the cleaning vid.

i used a pointy knife for all the screws it worked
In Samoan/Mexican/black household we don’t use screw drivers , we use the knifes 🤣
Will I damage my ps4 if I pop open the back without taking out the hardrive?
I did it and cleaned literally everything and it still sounds like a jet guess I gotta look up how to change a ps4s thermal paste and pads
Wich product is this air base? Like a aerossol

They are security hex bolts on silver plate, it's a hex with a hole in the middle
I accidentaly took out the whole white connectorwhat do i do im scared.
