    Besides putting new thermo paste you also need to do a total cleaning inside like the fan heat sink and air vents.

    I had same problem. Last week I replace the thermal paste with new Arctic MX-6 and changed all thermal pads with Arctic TP-3. Now my PS4 Pro is ultrasilent. I also made made sure my ps4 is in a open place for air to circulate properly. Make sure your PS4's tiny feets are intact. If some feets have broken raise it with some bluetack or buy new feets

    Thermal paste and cleaning the fan radiator, these two worked for me.
    It will take 2 hours and lifetime of patience to get it done.

    Thanks.

    Why did you not replace the thermal pads? Can you not see how they have been crushed and the indentation in the center of them as well as how they do not completely cover the chips?

    For best results I would clean the heat sync, because where all the dust clogs up, it’ll still make the ps4 over heat therefore will need more thermal paste when you take it apart again

  • @robertwahlstrom
    @robertwahlstrom Рік тому +2

    Also seen some people suggest replacing the thermal pads on the ram slots and HDMI chip which is something I will do on top of the thermal paste.
    My guess is the ram gets fairly hot as well and fails to dissipate heat to the metal plate above.

    Did you clean the heatsink’s radiator on its other side? If not, then it’s probably why it’s still getting hot. If it’s clogged with dust, the air coming from the fan won’t be able to blow through it making your fan spin faster/louder in an attempt to cool it down.

    Good video. I sometimes wish more people online who complain about the PS4's "jet engine" noise would courageously take it upon themselves or have someone else disassemble to clean out their system and replace the thermal paste. I've read it so many times that people whose system starts getting loud would just decide to sell their PS4 and just buy a PS5. Obviously, if your PS4 started sounding loud in due time, what makes you think the PS5 won't do the same in a few months or a few years? By the way, I'm not saying they shouldn't buy a PS5, either. The PS5 is pretty cool in its own way. They just shouldn't "fix" their problem by selling one console, which technically still works and only needs a bit of deep cleaning, by buying another. To me, that's a waste of money.

      I got the same one 2nd hand from CEX it sounded like an aircraft at first especially when it’s got a disc inside so I stripped it both top and bottom only and cleaned out the heat sink and the fans plus all the vents throughly it I can’t hear practically anything from it now even with a disk it is warm to touch but guess that’s normal as I can’t hear the fans as loud as before I didn’t replace the thermal paste as I didn’t wanna mess around with it too much but I will if needed to if I experience any future problems with it

    You gotta invest in good thermal paste and thermal pads. Before I used cheap paste and the Pro was back to sounding like Sony Airlines in less than 6 months! Now after using Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme paste and DRIFTice thermal pads let me tell you, my Pro has never been so silent. I’m not exaggerating either the damn thing runs so much cooler now. I also have a 7200 series so that may make a difference in sound, too. N trust me, I know how obnoxious these things can be when the fan kicks in, I have yet to hear the fan do so.
