    Why is everyone calling this a mod???🤔

    • @RRGC
      @RRGC  Рік тому +13

      Because Parts of the original cooling solution of the PS4 Pro get exchanged for better parts and some new cooling parts are added.
      modification
      /ˌmɒdɪfɪˈkeɪʃn/
      noun
      the action of modifying something.
      "the parts supplied should fit with little or no modification"
      Hence the Term Mod (short term for modification) 😊

      @@RRGC Bro, what are you talking about? I rewatched your video because I thought I'm going crazy. You did NOT modify anything. That's REPLACING the thermal compound and pads. Replacing is not the same as modifying. That's like changing the carpets in your house and claiming that you refurbished it. Don't try and make stuff up and try to paint me as a fool by throwing the dictionary at me. You are literally calling the Moon a Sun and pointing at me like I'm the crazy person. Changing your thermal paste is not mod. It has never been called a mod. A mod is when you cut a hole in your PS and slap a huge fan on it. There are people who literally pull the board out and make Custom Builds with custom made cooling solutions. Is your PS4 a custom build now that you swapped the cooling pads? Come on man, let's be honest here.

    • @RRGC
      @RRGC  Рік тому +8

      Thanks for your reply Id. I get your point it’s not a custom build and we ripped nothing out or modified the externals of the PlayStation and you are absolutely right about that. 😉
      But we also modified the way the ps4 is transferring the heat away from the APU by adding thermal interface material where there was nothing on the ESD shielding.
      Also we further reduced the Fan RPM of the PlayStation by adding thermal pads to the HDMI chip because that partially controls the fan speed.
      So maybe we could agree on that it’s not a big mod, like changing it to watercooling. But even exchanging the thermal paste against a better one would be by definition a mod. 😊
      Thank you for the update take care 👍

    • @willionaire77
      @willionaire77 Рік тому +3

      @@id104335409but he didn' just "replace" the termal compound... he used a different thermal compound than the factory one and he also added thermal compund to places where there was none - for added benefit.
      So calling it just a "replacement" instead of a mod is just semantics at this point.
      This video was very helpful and I rather might try this modification to a stock PS4 Pro rather than make a frankenstein console out of it and drilling huge holes into it with external fans - or experiment with questionable liquid metal at my own risk of damaging it if it spills and shorts the PS4..... 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @santosdr2
      @santosdr2 Рік тому +2

      It isn't much of a modification at all. It seems pretty standard, I just did something very similar and in no way would I say I modified the ps4 pro.
      I just wanted to clean out the old thing because it was overheating and being loud.
      I cleaned it up, add some thermal paste as the stock stuff was no longer working well.
      My ps4 is very quiet now now longer overheating but the real test is coming since the temperatures in my area are getting warm. Last summer mY ps4 would bug out.
      here is to hoping it will fare better this summer.
      When I bought the ps4 I added a SSD that was a slight modification that even then isn't much of a "MOD" since it is very easy to do. Requiring less work then adding new thermal paste.

    Thank you for this video! I was wondering why I still had airplane sounds coming from my PS4 after replacing the thermal paste already, but the thermal pads replacements and additions you showed here were the key to getting it super quiet. Even when I'm riding around in Red Dead 2, I could barely hear it kicking on the fan. And the heat dissipation seems great on top of it. Thanks again!

    Hi. This Mod seems to be very cool. ;) What temperatures do you measure on the topside of the console skin and the rear (heat-exhaust) before and after this mod?

    • @RRGC
      @RRGC  4 роки тому +2

      As it was about silencing the fan I didn't measure the temperature at the exhaust. But the backside only gets lukewarm after the mod and the top gets a bit hotter. It seems the heat now dissipates through the case metal parts.

Anyone out there going to attempt this themselves, prepare as much as possible and have this video playing so you can pause where you need to! Fantastic results!

    Hi mate. I have a question to you. If you recognized more hotter backsite of the console than before replacement of the thermopast and -pads, the power supply unit is overheat? My PSU have got damage because of a bad soldering of the elements in the PSU and hot air which come from the heatsink. One more question at the end. What do you think about an addtional fan at the bottom cover near the processor to eliminate the hot air which come through the PSU?

    • @RRGC
      @RRGC  3 роки тому

      Actually my PSU works fine and I've modded my PS4 pro over a year ago and the heat gets spreaded more evenly via the ESD shielding. I think that an additional fan would cause the designed airflow to no work properly anymore. Also it would only change the air temperature a little bit and add extra noise.

      What I'm asking is there only the 8 pads on the chips? Do you replace the ones in the heat pan as well@@RRGC

      All of them yes. And added some new ones at important points as shown in the video. ☺️

    In your opinion would a raspberry pi mini heatsink work on the hdmi chip or not enough clearance?

    • @RRGC
      @RRGC  2 роки тому +1

      To be honest I'm not sure if there's enough clearance but you could give it a shot since the raspberry pi low profile heatsinks are pretty cheap to buy.

    If you were to replace the fan in a cuh-7215 ps4 pro what do you think is the best performing fan out there

      I think it’s only Nidec or delta an nidec ones perform better. 😊

    This mod worked really well but I’ve been noticing a lot a frame drops in games now. Is this maybe due to the PS4 running hotter from the top?

    • @RRGC
      @RRGC  3 роки тому

      This is somewhat unusual. May be if your ps4 runs too hot in the top you should remove the hdmi chip cooling pad again.
      I haven't noticed any frame drops on my ps4 pro but it's the pro model.

      Hey, did you removed hdmi cooling pad or what was the problem?

    Hello, I have a question. I have readed that adding thermalpad for HDMI chip make console quieter because there is located temperature sensor on it which controls also fan speed. I would like to do this for my PS4 Pro but I am afraid one thing. If hdmi sensor gives data for fan speed, is lower temperatures on it and makeing fan spinning lower not affecting cpu bad in some way or other cooled parts inside? Like, ok hdmi is cooler fan speed lower but now cpu temps are higher from that and it makes degrade cpu chip faster or even phisicaly destroy it or bonding with mainboard? I am afraid it will spin too low and pro patched high demanding games will cook faster some other parts. Could you give me some informations about it, like how is your console after some time with it and if you tested it on long term with some demanding titles? Also if I would like to do this mod for HDMI chip how is the size of thermalpad for it, I guess there is more space to metal plate from it than 1mm like on videoram chips?

      Hi Piotr,
      First of all my modded PS4 pro is running quietly for about 3 years so no there is nothing wrong with internal temps because the additional thermal pads transfer the heat away via the metal shielding.
      I only used the 1mm pads that are linked under the video the fitted perfect. 😉👍

      You are right, applying a thermal pad over HDMI may be harmful. Low fan means high temperature.

    • @RRGC
      @RRGC  3 місяці тому +1

      @buurakacar and yet our modded PS4 Pro works since 4 Years.
      Since the temperature is also removed from the other components through pads the overall heat should lower. So modding the HDMI chip only add to the overall mod.

    I used to only change the thermal paste of the processor, my PS4 pro still remained slightly noisy, I followed the tutorial and it hardly makes any noise even on call of duty where it had the used to doing a lot
