Finally found someone with simple answers for these. Inherited case of ATX power supplies that nobody wanted to buy, popped them in older Dells makes sense but nobody wants to tell me which models handle a ATX PSU since it requires an adapter (which is cheap everywhere now) but its all simple now, pull cages and let large GPUs in now that theres a beefy PSU
Replaced power supply with CiT FX Pro 700W PSU in T1700 mini tower. Had to remove MB to fit and to put back MB had to temp remove fan. CiT PSU is a 'perfect' fit and it could not be a mm larger without modifying case. Used adaptor as suggested (ty!). Also installed PNY 1660 super single fan and all is working well. Thank you for sharing your work and giving us confidence to try out different components!

For the T1650, you don't need the adapter. Just cracked mine open to check since I just bought a new PSU and GPU. The T1650 uses a 4 pin for the CPU and a 24 pin for the other power connection.

This is very interesting as I previously bought a dell T7500 for a cheap gaming workstation but thinking of moving up a generation for higher single core performance (x5670 6c12t 1300 single core passnark to i7 3770 4c8t but 2000 single core passmark). Do you know this is true on all t1650? If so will buy one in confidence knowing easy to upgrade psu! No UK stockist has the cables and greenpcgaming based in US and another place in HK. Thanks!!

Not sure how big it is but the amd 7870 at my parents' house is more than 8 inches and I ultimately hope to get a 1080ti one day! So now looking at z420 instead. A shame as some great deals on t1650 on ebay in uk.. Around 200 us dollars with processor and ram and case. All you need to do is chabge psu or run an external psu outside case but not if the gpu wont fit :(

For the T1500 you don't need the adapter. The T1500 uses a 4 pin for the CPU and a 24 pin for the other power connection. You might want to check that the new PSU you order has a 4 pin CPU power supply thought. The one i ordered (Cooler Master MWE-600w) does not have one. :-(

I bought the adapter cable only to find out it doesn't work on my T3620. The shape of the connector for the violet and green are swapped so the connector doesn't fit.
This helped me alot I have T1700 but i changed the Case due to Big size of G-card and more big PSU ( if i found your other video earlier, i would not buy maybe haha) But I couldn't turn it on and now I found why The key is 24 pin to 8 pin connector! Bought a 750w. It was a bit longer, and it kept getting caught on the case-panel clip... Finally had to just remove the MB, so I could go in from a top angle, but it worked great!
Hey any alternatives to the 700b in 2024? Aside from the corsair SF750. I'm also using using it for a precision 3620 with an rtx 2060. The sf750 is what I keep seeing everywhere but looking for any insight on possible options outside of that.

I’ve ordered 2 of the 24 to 8 pin and both seem to be broken. PSU tests fine. Old PSU will boot computer. But when booking up EWGA 600 to the computer using the adapter it will not power on. Any ideas?
@@GreenPCGamerscom I tried several from Amazon that all appeared to be the same. I finally ordered one branded as Block Erupter that worked. From what I’ve read, these cables are made very poorly, which yields a high failure rate, and some have even reported it frying their motherboard. So finding a quality cable is the lynchpin here.

Whenever you install an aftermarket product in to HP system you risk having issues. We have over 100 hours of gaming logged with the EVGA 700B Power Supply and are still yet to have any stability or hardware issues. What power supply were you thinking of order?

My Question is just Specific of applicability of the PSU Pinout shown in your video .......... whether the same Pinout shown will also apply on T3600, T3610 also ?? ........... Suppose I do a Case Swap or just open the case and use the PC as an Open Air system with an ATX PSU with wiring modified in accordance with the Pinout shown in your Video ........ then will it work on T3600, T3610 .. ??

We've never overclocked a T1500 workstation. If you do attempt to overclock the cpu you should consider swapping the stock heatsink with a liquid cooling heatsink. Thanks for commenting!
Got a 580rx ,using almost 200 watt ,i was thinking of using 2 satas and a 8 pin,but than i only have 90 watt left ,no way it would pull that and the risk is to high its going to catch fire.going to upgrade to this power supply.but kinda strange dell didnt put a bigger power supply its very limited for 4 years ago.especially for the price you had to pay for one of those you at least would expect it to have a bigger power supply like this and 2 8pins.btw the rx580 just fits in it.but overall im happy with the performance of the machine itself. I putt 32 gig ddr4 in it and its faster than a lightning bold and runs now on Windows 11.
Update,changed the power supply with the converter cable was pretty easy...than i try to start no video output...after turning pc of and on again it worked and there was my signal.with rx580 in it the combo works magnificent and its super fast with games and good frame rates and temperatures the power supply i used is a azza rgb to make it look like a gaming pc ...thats what i am using it for next to my television 🤗

Hey DadGamer, This power supply will work on the T1650 workstation. You will not need the adapter cable.

1. Make sure it is a functional drive
2. Plug in the data and pwr cable in to the HDD
3. Make sure the SATA port is enabled in the bios

Most aftermarket ATX cases will work. However, the control panel can be a tough obstacle to transfer.

You should upgrade the power supply first with that particular card. Have you measured the card first to make sure it will fit in the chassis?

It depends on the quality of the power supply. In most cases, it should work fine.
I used a 550W for a 1660 ti
