Bonnet Handle Broken?? Ford Mondeo Mk5

thought i would run through how to replace the bonnet handle on a mk5 ford mondeo...the handle does not break..its the section that fits into the handle that breaks which means buying a new cable assembly.

Thanks Alan for showing me how to remove the handle. Had to retrieve one from a scrapyard for my car. After struggling for some minutes, I quickly checked online for help then found this video. The rest is history. Thank you !!

Hi Alan, great video as always! Can you please do a video on how to clean the engine bay. Particularly the scuttle area. As cobwebs can accumulate around there and near the vents on the A pillars. Thanks 👍

Are ford Mondeo MK4 drive shaft expensive to buy? A garage said I need both my front two replaced and to buy genuine ford parts and the quote was £1200 parts and labour.. is that right? I looked online and for the parts at £150 or about ?

for a mk4 you can get aftermarket driveshafts at a much cheaper price than ford

ive done x2 wheel bearings on a mondeo with a ebay bearing press kit, no hydraulic press.

no, it would be very difficult, take the hub off and get a garage with a press to fit it, should not take long

I had the bonnet cable break on my Mk4. I read that was a common fault.

A video on how to sort out the bonnet catch would be useful. Mine often shows bonnet open and the alarm goes off every few days but I can't see the wires to short them out.

And all because Ford didn't route the cable to the right for the UK market, given that you're probably right that broken ones are because drivers and mechanics lean over and pull it from the wrong angle. Cheers.

@@alan4x Evening Alan, I hope all's well with you. Have you had problems with Mark 5 Mondeo driver's door window/mirror switches? Mine have stopped working. No clicks or anything. I changed the driver's door window/ mirror fuse and also the passenger one in case they were swapped, this also being a LH drive yank car design. But nothing doing. All the other windows are working on their own door switches. I'm wondering if it's the umbilical wiring near the door hinge. I've only had the car a month (65 plate 1.5 Econetic - no road tax and v economical) and I got a 2 year warranty with it. So it will be back to Petch Ltd in Middlesbrough if it's not something simple I can do. Love your videos and appreciate the effort you put in. Cheers, Mike

the driver put it in a ditch, after making an estimate the insurance company wrote it off, we bought the car back off the insurance company cheap so we could strip for spare parts
