Amazingly detailed video. Nothing cut out which is very common with these videos! Just carried out the job myself for the price of a £10 cable, surely would have been £100+ in labour. Thank you!
I bought a kit from Dark Ice designs £11.00, contains a stainless steel cable so won’t rust, just cut the old cable and pull it out then feed the new one down the existing sleeve, once in the car fit and tighten the supplied grommet cut the cable to size, slot it in the pull lever jobs a good’un. 20 mins max.
Great video. This helped me to replace my cable on my S Max. The only thing I’d point out if anyone is going to attempt the Smax is that to take the glove box out, there a lot more screws and three bolts. Some of the screws are hidden too behind the plastic that comes from the lower part of the centre console so that needs removing first. Thanks Chazz for the guide
Hiya mate, was a ball ache some jobs are made harder when you have a camera in the way but i got it done and i hope made it as clear and easy to follow. Cheers mate
I’ve got this to look forward to. Like you, I thought it was the catch, but no. In my case the inner cable is intact but a bit rusty, and the rubber elbow bit at the bonnet end has broken off from the outer cable. I don’t have a garage so I think I’ll wait for a dry day to tackle it. Thanks for the very helpful video.
Great video love all the mondeo mk3 and mk4 vids i have both cars a very long time never had this problem its not common with mondeos but great to know
Hiya Ant, believe it or not i had the same issue when i brought my mk4 the lad had double locked it and the battery drained. So the only way we could pop the bonnet was to jack the front of the car up, remove the undertray and locate the starter motor as it has a direct feed to the battery. And using a fulling charged battery and some cables i contected the ground to a ground point and then connect that cable to the negative on the other battery. Then on the second battery i connected the posstive cable and had Arron ready with the key fob and when i touched the possitive cable to the posstive side on the starter motor he pressed the button and unlocked the car. Might be easier for me to do a video on it. But this allowed us to unlock the car and gain access to the battery to remove it and charge.
Hi Chazz thanks for sharing this i have got this job to do on my daughters Mondeo which i was really dreading but your vid makes it look easier to do than i thought if fiddly just wish it was a bit colder i'm gonna sweat cobs doing this i know it 🥵 Cheers Chas 👍
Hi chazz why didn't you just buy the inner cable mate you don't have to do all this removing clove box ext just remove handle and put new cable in from engine bay takes 5 mins mat the inner cable only £11 I had to do mine last week buddy lol 👍

Just did this now. Took over 2 hrs. Without this video, this job would have been a nightmare. Thanks

Thanks for your video. I wonder if wouldn't be easier to push the cable with its "bonnet side" through engine bay into the hole.
Marcin could always give it a try
Hi..
Dobra robota..
Pozdrawiam z Polski.
Hi, Pawel. Many thanks for the support. Would it be helpfull if i got subtitles done on my videos in Polish?
@@ChazzCoombes Hi, I think they would be useful for many Polish users of Mondeo mk4.
I think there are many observers from Poland.
Chazz, do you know how I can charge a flat battery while it is still in situ ? n this mk4 mondeo

So maybe it might be better not to double lock it ? I would then be able to access the inside of the car by key ? Am I correct ?
@@MrUnemployedjoe if you can unlock the car you can just pop the bonnect and charge the battery that way.
Great work 👍
Great video mate
Cheers Liam

Could you not just tape new cable into the old one and just pull it through with the old one? 🤔
Yeah you can do, but the cable in my case was sticking to the inside off the sleave.
A broken bonnet latch cable would never happen on MK III Mondeo :)
Nope i know, aint got one, lmao. But has that horrible bit of plastic instead.
