Man I don’t really pay much attention to Superman's rogues gallery ( I’m more of a Batman/ Spider-Man person) But you just madeToy man into my favorite Superman villain 😁.
Considering the current climate of DC movies, I don't think that's a good idea. Knowing WB, they'd try to make him "More serious" and go with the creepy child murderer/pedophile version of the character.
Toyman IMHO works best when he's not truly evil ... only hurt and self-righteous. (Like when he attacks a parade giving away free iphones because he's sick of watching kids stare at their little screens like zombies.
Holy shit, how come I have never known of this masterpiece of a character? honestly I would put him up there with Mr. Freeze, I never knew such a good hearted rouge could exist, I am definitively a fan now.
Toyman is one of Superman's greatest villains. He is one of my favorite Superman rogues, in my opinion, I even like how he like to make toys, and I even like how he cares for kids to make them gleeful and happy with some many toys he has in his workshop, Toyman is a true protective guardian of children. He's not really considered as evil as other Superman villains, but he's doing what's right, not just for him, but for his wife, the kids he loves, and the toys he has, that I think is very amazing.
Love your channel so much hahaha i spent all evening rewatching old videos and then noticed a new one pop up! So glad you did a top 5 for a Superman Villain! Cant wait to see more Superman rogues and some Flash rogues! Not taking away from Batman, he and his rogues will always be the best with Supes and Flash tagging behind ;)
Nice video, as always, and very interesting ! For some reason, I never thought of Toyman as a good villain. I never thought he was even important to the DC Comics stories, since I had almost never read or seen something about the character. Seems quite underrated, in fact. But now, thanks to you, I look forward to learning more about him. I'm sure there are some other great things to find. Have a good day ;)
Hey Rogues. I know you said you were going to do it, but I do hope you make a top 5 best Parasite stories one day. I still believe that Parasites has good stories, they are just overlooked and ignored.
Great video, Toyman is tied with Parasite as my favorite Superman Rogue. Although I must ask, who would let Toyman of all people work on toys in prison in #2? That sounds like they are practically giving him a break out of jail card X"D also I agree Nimball was bland, but one appearance by him caught my eye. There is a direct to DVD movie called "Justice League Trapped In Time" which is basically a modernized Superfriends. What interests me though is their version of Nimball seems to be some kind of living puppet. He appears to be made of wood, was able to breathe in space, and when the legion of doom are shown in some kind of museum in the future (long story short Lex gets frozen, wakes up in the future, goes back and sends the legion back in time to send baby superman back to space) he appears limp in a display with cartoonish X's over his eyes. Idk I find the possibility he's a puppet interesting in that movie, sadly they never delve into it at all
Thanks, we thin alike it seems! Those are my 2 favorites too. I haven't seen that movie but that sounds pretty interesting. Kinda creepy.. Maybe Winslow built him ;)
You know what I just realised? You're channel's probably the only one I've seen with a near-perfect video record, with most of your videos not having a single dislike! Pretty impressive.
Oh I dunno, I've got my share of dislikes.. It is true though that none of my videos have more dislikes than likes.. But I think only truly hated videos experience that.
I'm more familiar with his son from the animated series. From the moment he showed up with that bouncing ball against those gangsters and what it could do and from his creepy seemingly innocent appearance was a really good moment to establish him as a threat.
Well, this was unexpected. Not bad, though! I've actually never read any mainstream comics with Toyman in them. I'll make sure to check these stories out A.S.A.P. :)
Honestly, this guy along with Metallo, the Parasite, and the atomic skull, are some of my favorite superman villains, Winslow to me is definitely a bit of a tragic and creepy villain, he’s definitely more of a Batman villain, but he fits in well in superman stories imo. out of all of them on this list I’d love is the number 2 and 3 on the list. Number two I just love Winslow’s scheme, then as for the number three this story to me gives me ideas on how to combine both Winslow, and Jack Nimball into the same character.
I love Toyman. He may not have powers but he has proven time and time again that can be a strong threat to Superman I wish writers would use him more in stories. He is awesome. Of course, I do not want him to be portayed as a pure evil.creep like the 90s version.
This guy always made me uneasy. The first story with him in it that I read was the one that involved Cat Grant and her son. Compared to all the other characters involved with Superman this guy was more grounded and made his kind of evil more real. Then again I was like 10 or less at the time...
It'll be wonderful if Todd McFarlane would make the 1978 version of the Toyman from the Challenge of the Super Friends series. Now that's the Toyman that I would like to see as a DC MULTIVERSE action figure.
My one issue with the Geoff Johns story is that all the other Toymen are established as fake. He only really needed to get rid of the one from the 90s, but I guess Geoff just likes overkill in his stories.
That is the problem with Geoff. He only writes heroes from his childhood, and pushes their modern day successors to the side. Barry over wally, and Hal over Kyle, John and Guy.
Geoff is basically a more dignified version of those Pre-90s purists who will complain about everything from the modern era, regardless of its actual quality, just because it's "not the same!", only instead of complaining about modern replacements, he just sidelines them. He's still a very good writer, and has done a fantastic job on many occasions, but his love of the past has a habit of blinding him from seeing the flaws in his plans for the future.
I like the design of Toyman used in the DC Animated Universe where he SEEMS to be a living toy himself. though I dislike them making this version the son of Winslow Schott rather than just make him the actual Winslow in a robotic body or something (in order to remain a child in form forever).
Oh yeah, I've been planning to do both of those for ages. They just keep getting pushed up.. So many characters and videos to do you know? But I'll get to them eventually!
2:45, ACTION COMICS #865 -- Probably would have placed this one lower on the list myself, for while I'm glad Johns tried to go back on the decision to make Toyman into a Batman villain, telling us that version of Winslow Schott, plus the other alternate Toymen, were all robots so lifelike that not even Superman could pick up on it was asking a lot. A _lot_. That being said, it was a decent origin story that expanded on elements from the post-Crisis Toyman origin in SUPERMAN v2 #13, in which the corporate executives Schott was murdering had done nothing other than insist he retire because his toy ideas were quaint and old-fashioned, which I imagine was John Byrne making a statement about action figure franchises and the like that had taken over the toy industry at the time. That was a bit of a drab story, as it simply had the Toyman using toys that exploded -- even if some were a kamikaze squad of flying action figures -- which has been what practically every live action version of Toyman is: a mad bomber who puts explosives inside of toys. You'd think by now the video FX from the PUPPET MASTER movies and the like would be within the budget for a TV show, but apparently not. That being said, that story made it so that, off-panel, the Toyman had been one of John Steed and Emma Peel's (ITV's "The Avengers") rogues, which oddly kind of works. 7:35, ACTION COMICS #657 -- Toyman Mark 2's first appearance since the above-mentioned reboot story, and definitely my candidate for #1 Toyman story. This and a follow-up story, where Schott designed a hi-tech amusement park for Intergang to launder its money, went with Toyman's strengths as in many ways just a frustrated inventor who wanted to make children happy, but was stymied by adults. And his actions are not that of what would be a typically modern, bloodthirsty Batman villain would be, but more like Willy Wonka or Mr. Rogers gone a bit off track. The final page almost mirrors the ending of Mad Hatter's debut BATMAN TAS episode, and its disappointing that the Powers That Be at DC Comics decided neither to keep going in this direction with the character, or perhaps have him reform and become Superman's eccentric scientific helper (although at the time, they already had reformed mad scientist Emil Hamilton for that). But, unfortunately we got a demented Norman Bates knock-off, one who would have gone the Pinocchio, children-turned-into-donkeys route .... *blech!*
Toyman is too Batman-ish for my taste. Not that that's bad, but i think Superman's villains should lean more heavily into the science-fiction and futuristic ideals to contrast with Supes theming, instead of noir tragedy wich is Bats's shtick.
So you're telling me that the character who regularly builds giant robots, biological weapons, laserguns and even time-machines and other over-the-top super-science technology is not science-fiction enough? Yeah, the only way one could think that the Toyman would be a better Batman villain is if one has never actually read a toyman comic. The Toyman's inventions are way to advanced and over-the-top to fit into the gritty noir of Batman. They are on the other hand perfect for the over-the-top sometimes silly sensibilities of Superman stories.
toy man fits better as a batman rouges like think of this an insane toy maker that makes deadly toys. that fits better with batman then superman in my opinion
1:10 - N°5 - The man who toyed with death
2:50 - N°4 - The terrible toyman
4:25 - N°3 - Target of the toyman

Toyman is my favorite Superman Rogue. Great video as always Rogues!
Awesome! Someone else who appreciates the old guy too ;) Thanks!
I always liked the Bronze Age Toyman , The Superman team up with Santa issue was pretty good too
I used to have the #5 book as a kid. After seeing how Schott got rid of Nimball, I've never looked at a cuckoo clock the same way again.
Toyman is such an interesting Superman rogue. Glad you made a Top 5 stories Iist of him first for the non-Batman rogues.
Man I don’t really pay much attention to Superman's rogues gallery ( I’m more of a Batman/ Spider-Man person) But you just madeToy man into my favorite Superman villain 😁.
One of my favorite Superman villains, yet i've barely read anything with him! Great vid.
I am such a big fan of the toy man good I would just love to see him in a Superman movie
Hopefully one day that happens🤓
Considering the current climate of DC movies, I don't think that's a good idea. Knowing WB, they'd try to make him "More serious" and go with the creepy child murderer/pedophile version of the character.
Toyman is so radically different in “Superman the Animated Series”.
You should do a history of Toyman episode.
This is one of my favorite channels. Your videos are a real treat.
Awesome I love this character because he's so different from the other superman villains
Toyman IMHO works best when he's not truly evil ... only hurt and self-righteous. (Like when he attacks a parade giving away free iphones because he's sick of watching kids stare at their little screens like zombies.

Love the begin, shows you give a damn about these Characters and what happens to them.
Rouges, please do a top 5 mr. Freeze stories. He is one the greatest supervillains in comics to me
He's the bat rogue who's up next actually ;)
Never thought I'd ever see a list like this.
Good work.
Thanks!
Didn't you know that you only are allowed to make Batman villain videos by law?
I can hear the FBI knocking on your door right now.
FBI OPEN UP!
Nice video, as always, and very interesting ! For some reason, I never thought of Toyman as a good villain. But now, thanks to you, I look forward to learning more about him. I'm sure there are some other great things to find. Have a good day ;)
Underrated indeed! Most people seem to forget that he actually has many great stories. Have a good day yourself!
I find toy man oddly relatable
I love the cover of action comic's 865 and the art
The best Batman Channel on UA-cam. I would like to see some more 1966 stuff
Thank you very much! Yeah I got plenty more of that comming.
OMG You responded. This is so cool!
Hey Rogues. I know you said you were going to do it, but I do hope you make a top 5 best Parasite stories one day. I still believe that Parasites has good stories, they are just overlooked and ignored.
Gotham Rouges, can you please do a Top 5 Killer Moth stories. He is my favorite Batman villain of all time.
If I can think of 5 good ones I will.
Gotham Rogues ok, two good stories that feature Moth are Batgirl Year One and the Misfits storyline you did a while back.
Gotham Rogues would you consider fanmade stories?
can you do a underrated villains video on killer moth
Nasa Peepo Hell no
I’ve always liked Toyman. My favorite design of his is the marionette Jack Nimble from Alex Ross’s Justice.
Great video, Toyman is tied with Parasite as my favorite Superman Rogue.
Although I must ask, who would let Toyman of all people work on toys in prison in #2? That sounds like they are practically giving him a break out of jail card X"D

I haven't seen that movie but that sounds pretty interesting. Kinda creepy.. Maybe Winslow built him ;)
If I had to rank my favorite Superman Villains, Toyman would definitely be at the top. Followed by Prankster, Livewire, Lex Luthor, and Metallo.
Love there is a happy land far far away. Love that toyman take children to his world to have a happy childhood.
Sure, but I think this shows how talented you are in making videos that nearly everyone enjoys and with rarely any haters.
Can u do a review of Professor Pyg's first appearance plz
Gotham Central I would definitely watch that
North American Spartan
I might do comic reviews on my channel
I'm so glad you are tackling 5 best stroies of _X_. It's pretty cool.
I fucking love this channel !
C L O W N S A N I T Y Same
C L O W N S A N I T Y it's my favorite at the moment
Awesome!
3:33 Schott should have known to never sign up with Lex. He'll always screw you over.
I'm more familiar with his son from the animated series. From the moment he showed up with that bouncing ball against those gangsters and what it could do and from his creepy seemingly innocent appearance was a really good moment to establish him as a threat.
Thanks for this. Toyman is my favorite and you nailed it.
Nice work, Rogues!
Just joined in on the channel a little while back, loving your videos!
Thank you very much!
You should also do a design list for Toyman I ljke his look
Thank you for this list. Keep up the awesome and amazing work.
I actually own the number 2 story! I'm glad it appeared on this list.
Hes is unique and absolute
Greacefull
Well, this was unexpected. Not bad, though! I've actually never read any mainstream comics with Toyman in them. I'll make sure to check these stories out A.S.A.P. :)
I also want to add that the number one pick made me think of Willy Wonka for some reason...take that how you will. (shrugs)
Haha yeah there is something willy wonka-ish about that story..
Spot light the crazy (but sort of nice) rogues. Their are fun.
Please do professor pyg underrated Rouges

Keep up the good work!! I would see a video on Black Manta!! Aquaman needs more respect!!
Ward McCreery yes we need a Black Manta video and Aquaman definitely needs more respect and exposure!!
I love your list keep it up. Thanks for the content.
When I saw the thumbnail, all I thought was: "OMG Hugh Laurie in a wig" (9:35)
I came here for some cheap laugh but I ended up wanted to find these comics and some wholesomeness
It'll be wonderful if Todd McFarlane would make the 1978 version of the Toyman from the Challenge of the Super Friends series. Now that's the Toyman that I would like to see as a DC MULTIVERSE action figure.
It's just me or Toyman looks like Hugh Laurie in the video thumbnail?
Yeah, its better to have Winslow as the guy who loves to make children happy. Dollmaker already exist as the darker version of him.
the Superman TAS version of toyman is my favorite versionn of this character
Surprisingly wholesome guy.
I would be awesome if you did characters worst comics.
I like the DCAU version of Toyman
Can u maybe do a Video on the Great white shark?
BAKED SAUSAGE I think Discovery channel has you covered jk

I always found the Superman the Animated Series version of Toyman creepy what with him wearing that constantly smiling mask.
#2 is like riddler's reform
Can you make a video about Victor Zsasz?
Yes I'm of course going to make Zsasz videos ;)
I personally like jack nimball. His costume is really cool in my opinion, oppose to Winslow's blue and pink suit.
Awesome list. Any plans for a top 5 Brainiac stories list?
Thanks!
Not at the moment, but it could be something for the future.
I spot the superfreinds toyman
Hello Gotham Rouges I've been a subscriber for at least a solid 2 months I wanted to know if you could do Forgotten Villain: Magpie or Film Freak
Oh yeah, I've been planning to do both of those for ages. They just keep getting pushed up.. So many characters and videos to do you know? But I'll get to them eventually!
Gotham Rogues Cool thank you for replying :D
Any thoughts on the Superman TAS series incarnation of Toyman?
They also have the Toy-man his name is Hiro. Which I get confused with. Last seen in dark knights metal 1... hope he is still around

Wasn’t Toyman in a Batman story once?
Yes, it was a miniseries even. It's called 'Batman & Toyman' or something like that.
Gotham Rogues alright, cool. All I remember vaguely is a cover
Toyman is too Batman-ish for my taste. Not that that's bad, but i think Superman's villains should lean more heavily into the science-fiction and futuristic ideals to contrast with Supes theming, instead of noir tragedy wich is Bats's shtick.
Bruno Franco batman has enough psychopaths in his rogues gallery. Beside, Winslow has proven he can hold his own against superman as this list proves.
So you're telling me that the character who regularly builds giant robots, biological weapons, laserguns and even time-machines and other over-the-top super-science technology is not science-fiction enough?
