@@regularhuman6108 Hi! Not sure I understand your question. You can turn off, close or shutdown Steam if you want, but you wouldn't have access to your Steam library if you do. Can you give me some specifics as to what you are having issues with?
@@regularhuman6108 I assume you mean at the 3:50 mark of the video since i didn't mention it in this Comment thread. If so, I meant shut down Steam completely. Otherwise, both the SteamVR and Oculus setup programs might launch at the same time. This is just a suggestion if you haven't set up your Oculus headset yet.
I've mostly stuck with Oculus for single player and Steam for multi/co-op. With that said, my understanding is you can also access the Oculus store with a Vive headset, so in theory it shouldn't matter.
You dont choose either. You buy the ones on Rift that are one Steam and Oculus from Oculus, because they will run better that way. Steam has exclusives as well as Oculus. So, if you want a game and it's only sold o Steam, then obviously you have to get it from Steam ie "Fallout 4VR" or "Skyrim VR". "Robo Recall" is only on Oculus, therefore you go with Oculus for that game.
Sounds like a SteamVR issue since Oculus is fine. Try uninstalling and reinstalling SteamVR, making sure your graphics drivers are updated, and that you're using USB 3.0 ports and not 2.0.
Great question! I have to use Oculus Mirror to get a nice 16x9 view of what you see in Oculus Home. I go into more details on how that works at the 2:45 mark of the below video: ua-cam.com/video/3dBY_kJgXmg/v-deo.html
SteamVR has it's own Settings that run concurrently with Oculus Settings. Check those to make sure you don't have something set too high for your system. Also turn off the mirroring feature (where it shows what you see on your monitor).
If you are referring to the app you load onto a Quest/Quest 2 to connect to a PC wirelessly, then yes, that is a paid app as I understand. However, the part of the Oculus PC app that you use when connected to a PC via a cable is also called Virtual Desktop, and that is free.
Try hitting the flat/menu button on your right hand, then choose the option to re center the view. You can also try just launching the SteanVR setup and reconfigure there. 👍
