My Trailblazer does not have the upper bolt like that, but I watch this anyway. I just changed the transmission in my Trailblazer. I lowered the transmission, and was able to get to all of my upper bolts using about 3 feet of extensions, and going straight in.
Thank you so much for this video. My 2004 Tahoe transmission doesn’t lower like the one in this video. Currently doing a rear main seal repair, and this top bolt is kicking my tail. Great video!
If anyone is having a extremely hard time getting to it I took my intake off and the 3 hardest bols are right in your face no struggle that's the way I would recommend
Easiest way is to drop exhaust y pipe with cats and the trans cross member and let it hang 9and use a wrench or socket from under the truck reaching up from the side where he exhaust flange and starter would be. Its so easy.
Good tip..done 3 and always just go from the bottom on the sag w extensions Ill.try this in a couple mins but you get the thumbs up now..oil pressure sender is a pain as well..ill jack up.trans amd try.topside top center 60e bolt
This is a much harder way, than buying a swivel. Garentee it woulda been faster to drive to Orielly and buy the right tool for the job. A half deep socket on a swivel with a long extension only takes about a minute after lowering the rear of the trans. Maybe $10 in tools at Orielly. $40 if you dont have the ratchet or extension. But then at that point, why would you be working on your own shtt without tools? And to help masivly with putting it back together, When the trans is out, bend the lip thats in your way where the 2 peices come together up. I did this job just today and forgot that step.........
I bought a swivel for this specific job and the clearance from the firewall prevented me from getting the top bolt out. This video totally saved me. Thanks poster your a life saver man!
@@FlowingBackwards Then you still did something wrong. I have pulled about 40 of these engines and or transmissions. Drop the tail of the trains, use a long extension with a swivel and a half deep socket. Takes 30 seconds.
@@josephshort2408 Then youre doing something wrong. I have done this exact trans probly 20 times. A half deep socket on a swivel with tail of trans lowered and its really quite simple. If you use a full deep, or a short socket then yes you will have issues. Cant use impact tools either cause they are thicker and take up more room.

Thank you I’ve been struggling with changing my transmission for a couple of weeks

So much easier taking the intake off

I swear to god, GM just added that one singular bolt just to screw with people (it wasn't always there).
Right since when did any engineer decide to put w center top bolt on a bell housing 😊
Don’t swear to A God you don’t believe in.

Thank you, what a great tip!
Would an indexing wrench of gotten the bolt from the side?
Thanks. I'll try that tomorrow.
Thanks man, getting ready to do this
Worked awesome. 2012 suburban lt
Works great when you want to keep the transfer case on
Take it off behind the engine
Don’t see how this would pertain to weather or not you leave the transfer case on or not.
Looks like you had a leak from the oil pressure sender huh?
I’m stuck on the other one lol at 6 o’clock 2weeks now
Take the intake off omfg it's way easier
@justinholliday4105 I have took my engine out and I still can't get it
The only way I will get it is hiring a welder to tackle a bolt
Thanks
Have to use a wobble socket
Doesn't work there's a lip it literally impossible
Better advice, buy swivel sockets!

Idk I’ve done 10 and even a double swivel doesn’t clear. Transfer case is off and trans is low as it goes. But sure whatever you say

@@FlowingBackwardsget shallow/short impact sockets
If you had trouble getting your socket in there, you need to lower the tail end of the transmission
do you have covid?
