Yeah, the sculpting mechanic was really cool, wish they would’ve kept it in future games, would’ve given each player a chance to make the parts their way instead of sticking to official brands and their exact dimensions
I just realised how incredible it is that Carbon and Pro Street was released just 1 year apart. Significant change and improvement in graphics and game mechanics.
In every illegal racing game Toyota be like: "Hey just add the Supra" But in 2018 in Forza Horizon 4: "WE DONT WANT OUR PRODUCTS TO BE IN A ILLEGAL RACING GAME"
i still say that nfs pro street was the best balance between arcade and simulator, and it was the best game in terms of getting the best environment for car culture (the announcer is an actual commentator of racing events), also the customisation is the best out of all the nfs, and the music is awesome. Keep in mind that before i hated Pro Street, it was after i changed my mindset that i loved it for what is was, a great game full of detail in every part of it, for car guys in general.

It's his handling settings. There are definitely more natural/realistic l handling settings, but I guess this setup must have been best for scoring purposes.
Out of all the NFS games, I personally enjoyed playing prostreet the most. The races were actually challenging. Plus the shift to a new version of Street racing was a surprising twist. Street racing but legal...kinda 😂

テリンアダム Oh, I could get more on that event, if NFS gave me more time, with a full drift setup for my R34. Yes, an AWD car and drifting usually don't go well together, like peanut butter and bananas, but, it works with a flavor masking, in this case, a well implemented drift setup.
Pro Street does have an invisible multiplier. Keeping the slide going particularly over longer periods makes for much higher scores. Curiously, pausing from a drift while accelerating on a straightaway, then pulling into a drift again within a second, not only doesn't count as a separate drift with a starting multiplier, it increases your score even more.
A Tomato prostreet also has a multiplier connection with the track length. Just look to the Autopolis track in this video, ive reached max of 6k but in shorter Autopolis tracks its possible to get 11k
I remember drifting online in Grid - Noone could ever beat me, always get inch perfect to the flags and could drift the whole course constantly. My favourite racing game. Shame Grid 2 wasn't as good.
Holy shit need for speed pro street I played that when i was 10 and couldn't figure out how to even navigate the menus and only ended up getting as far as racing a few times but I completely forgot it existed
these Canyon races were the only great part imo, the rest was bullshit, but still better than Undercover, Rivals, and basically all other later NFS games except for Pro Street, Shift 1 and maybe 2015
NFS Carbon drift events will always have a special place in my heart. You go so obnoxiously fast while sliding your car fucking 90 degrees backwards and it was always just awesome. Not very realistic, but awesome.
I feel you mate NFS carbon has the best drift events in any other NFS games IMO. There is one time I used a corvette and I can't remember how much points I have it's over a million and it feels so good.
Lotus EnduroGT in Carbon there's a lot of fake speed, you can't drift like that at that speed in that road, it remembers me to NFS No Limits, that game really has some shitty drift physics

Drift in Underground 1 and 2 are awesome as pure arcade, but it's also incredible in Pro Street as an arcade (less arcade than before) with more real look, sound and smoke.
For those wondering, the poles you see at the apex and curves 9:30 are used to give scores (in real life), the closer you are to them while driving the higher scores you get, but if you touch them your scores become zero for that turn.

From the NFS games hands down Pro Street has got the most satisfying drifting. From all those games Horizon 3. It actually takes some effort to drift really nicely.

Prostreet is honestly the best out of all of these, the way the car fights with you and how you need to keep control of it going the opposite direction.(ESPECIALLY in manual gear... 👌)
I´ve always found pretty anoying that every drift game I tried allows you to keep turning the steering wheel to where you are turning (other words, countersteering is not a must) which is an absolute NO on real drift events. All of these being arcade games, at least NFS Carbon aims the front wheels graphics where they should, despite whatever you are doing on the controller. Still, to me GRID (1) feels the best so far.
Mariano Martinez Played any of the Forza Horizon games ? Grid 1 was my favourite game in terms of drifting until I got my hands onto FH1 and now 3.. gotta say it's way better. But yeah man, I know what you're saying, you're right. Countersteering is an integral part of drifting, and also, you should be able to drift just by speeding up and losing grip in a corner, not only by using your brakes in/before a corner.
TheRealBigM No, haven't had a chance as I'm on the PS3 side right now. Gran Turismo offers nice physics there but still there are no proper "drifting rules applied" so it's up to your desire of doing it right (or not). There are many entry techniques, and you get to try many of them in different Sims or games, but still rules are not there so anything is valid in the game. Gotta try Forza some time.

You're kidding right? The drift mechanics in that game were awful. When you drift, the rear is supposed to step out but in that game it's the opposite. It's especially noticeable when changing direction, the front goes all over the place while the rear stays planted. Like the pivot point is above the rear axis, which looks super unrealistic
Remember the explanation of drifting in UG1? They said the course was sprayed with OIL to make the cars slide. Oh what great times it was to be oblivious

For those wondering, the poles you see at the apex and curves 9:30 are used to give scores (in real life), the closer you are to them while driving the higher scores you get, but if you touch them your scores become zero for that turn.

From the NFS games hands down Pro Street has got the most satisfying drifting.
From all those games Horizon 3. It actually takes some effort to drift really nicely.

nfsu1&2 drifting was the best imo. easy, simple but to score monster score required tons of skill. Also grid drift was beast.

Prostreet is honestly the best out of all of these, the way the car fights with you and how you need to keep control of it going the opposite direction.(ESPECIALLY in manual gear... 👌)

Man, drifting in Horizon 3 is so hard. I can drift just fine in Gran Turismo or even Project Cars, but Forza? Nope.

Great Video ! NFS Underground and NFS Underground 2 is the best drift events ever.
I´ve always found pretty anoying that every drift game I tried allows you to keep turning the steering wheel to where you are turning (other words, countersteering is not a must) which is an absolute NO on real drift events.
All of these being arcade games, at least NFS Carbon aims the front wheels graphics where they should, despite whatever you are doing on the controller. Still, to me GRID (1) feels the best so far.

But yeah man, I know what you're saying, you're right. Countersteering is an integral part of drifting, and also, you should be able to drift just by speeding up and losing grip in a corner, not only by using your brakes in/before a corner.
TheRealBigM No, haven't had a chance as I'm on the PS3 side right now. Gran Turismo offers nice physics there but still there are no proper "drifting rules applied" so it's up to your desire of doing it right (or not).
There are many entry techniques, and you get to try many of them in different Sims or games, but still rules are not there so anything is valid in the game.
Gotta try Forza some time.

Exploding Amarantes When they bitched on it they didnt know any better till .....criterion came........Carbon and ProStreet became godlike games in eyes of those morons who hated it for no reason back then, because they were solid games which had lots of stuff coming for them vinyl editor, autosculpt and good physics and gameplay

You're kidding right? The drift mechanics in that game were awful. When you drift, the rear is supposed to step out but in that game it's the opposite. It's especially noticeable when changing direction, the front goes all over the place while the rear stays planted. Like the pivot point is above the rear axis, which looks super unrealistic
