This IS intended behaviour, the police in TDU don't measure speed, they look out for car collisions and damage to property. So you can go fast, but not careless. Makes sense, since the events in the games are official and the characters are ultra rich.

Many people scold NFS undercover, but I remember damn well how cool it was to accelerate in it, in this video they don’t hold high speed for a long time, there is no blur effect from speed (probably for greater objectivity). In any case, I really love this game in it, everything is fine except for soapiness on the screen.

And if you have the expansions and want to try Tokyo Speedway, then good luck. It's impossible to do that race at 100% speed without heavily damaging your car. it's just insane. To those who have never played the game, let me describe the experience to you: you're going at 300-400 km/h on a two-lane road (in total, one in each direction) where having one wheel that exits the paved road means you'll total your car. That's Nevada Highway and Ebisu. Have fun!
The physics too. I own the PS3 and PS2 versions of the game, and I have played them both through entirely. I found the PS2 version to be much more enjoyable. The visuals aren't as fancy, but everything else about it is just... better.
Absolutely adored Test drive growing up, I preferred the ps2 version as you got mastery points for just driving, made you feel good to just drive around the island without being pressured to race to get points. I wish they'd remake it for PC.
Yes, apparently not made by Atari, but by some other company, and it appears to spit in the very face of the legacy the TDU series left behind by not featuring a massive open world. It rather seems to capitalize on this sort of vague "high life" vibe that you got with the two TDU games. I also know that TDU itself is just a spinoff of the Test Drive series, but for me, it was a game I grew up with. TDU2 was meh, didn't play it much. To be fair, though, even two years after your comment, we still lack any tangible information about Solar Crown. There is just zero marketing, which is a necessity for this day and age. Who even knows if it ever was in active development. It does have a Steam page, even though it's in slightly weird English. Also seems to be bit of a vanity project, as the Steam description makes mention of a "legendary" game developer that also worked on TDU and TDU2. Inflated ego much? Who really knows. The page remained unchanged for a long time now, and it says 2023.
In most of them you don't really feel the speed, but nfs shift is definitely gives that feeling. It's really a simulation more than just a game. Need for speed most wanted 2 and rivals were also good.
