On the flip side the problem with him as a suspect is that in the hijacking that he got busted for the next year everyone described him as basically a bumbling fool that got everything wrong, which is probably why it only took 2 days to catch him. The total opposite to how d.b cooper was described. Mccoy even left his hijacking documents (plans etc) in the boarding area of the airport. He was described as nervous and angry, very unlike d.b cooer. Also all the flight crew from the db cooper case were shown mccoy and they all said it wasn't him.

      This is all factually correct.
Something I do not understand though is the reported physical abnormalities by three of the flight crew.
Firstly Mucklow the stewardess who sat next to Cooper for several hours stated that she noticed he had a deep scar on the palm of his right hand and a weird welt on his chin (which I don’t see in any of the compositions.
Finally, the male steward in his statement said that Cooper had a strange skin flap or skin tag on the back of his neck.
These three injuries or physical abnormalities only match one suspect who amazingly has all three in the same places…..William J Smith.
For me either it’s McCoy due to the tie and tie pin that his family identified as belonging to him and the witnesses were fooled by make up and glasses and many eye witness accounts are notoriously poor or incorrect due to stress and trauma reactions OR it’s William J Smith due to the physical match, his age at the time, the fact he was a smoker, known as a gentleman and he (for me at least) is the best match to the composite sketch of D.B cooper.
The very first time I saw that photo of him (albeit 30-40 years older in that photo) the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, it was the eyes and the look that grabbed me. That was before I even learned about the physical abnormalities that matched him to the eye witness statements.

@@garethtaylor1470 It is McCoy. Dan Gryder solved it and even contacted DBs children. McCoy and his wife are masterminds at manipulation. Its pointless to look for someone by the name of DB Cooper. No one is going to give their real last name. His personality and physical traits were drastically altered as disguise, and it worked.

The abnormalities witnesses said the hijacker had plus the e fit points to SMITH? The e fit alone is
So like SMITH.What's the odds on a man having three abnormalities
And looks like the image put out & it's not him? The hijacker was confident and very detailed which
Just isn't McCoy imo? Too reckless and got it all wrong as you said about his calamity caper
      & Left documents at airport😄
Captured in two days tells a story too , the man who hijacked that plane was meticulous in his plan &
Unlike MCCoy, didn't get things wrong or was forgetful enough to leave hijack plans etc behind😂😂
FBI aren't that stupid to think it's MCCoy after comparing each ones
Plans and how it was carried out, then say the hijacker is MCCoy
The man who got everything wrong & who left cops his plans behind cos he was that gd😅
FBI just want it put away but imo
They'll be many in the FBI that don't think it's MCCoy too? It just
      Is too obviously not..A super-cool
Daring robber never to be seen or a bungling amateur with memory loss who's caught in 48 hours?😄
Yet FBI pick the bungling bandit?😂😂🙉🙊🙈 not the first time FBI got it wrong is it?💯😇🙊🙊🙊🙊 oops😄😄 Respects yeah

I'm shocked the FBI still hasn't closed Cooper. I went on their website ( FBI ) and they claim other reasons why it's not McCoy. But those other reasons are probably the false affidavits alibi's given. Many cases of people giving false Alibi's. In the doco where Old mate said the FBI dropped the ball. By the looks of it they're still dropping the ball. The parachute lessons as well ha ha... Perfect timing.

    1) Blabbing about robbing an airplane to fellow law enforcement
    2) Not minimizing the evidence trail a mile long. Hide the money. Use a printed note so it’s not your handwriting. Use gloves. Use a better disguise like even sunglasses!

Handwriting can tell you a lot about a person and how they hold a pen, move their wrists, if they’re flashy and perfectionists or in a rush, if they write in a mix of caps and lower case that’s a sign of low education. Imagine he changed his writing in investigation, then the cops collect things from his home that he’s written over the years and it matches the original note but not the one he supplied in interview… makes him look more suspicious.

I enjoyed the video, but I will take the "DB Cooper" connection with a grain of salt. I have read and watched and followed the DB Cooper case many times. A group of independent researchers connected Cooper to having a Boeing connection plus other factors.
I also remember reading about Dillinger (growing up in Indiana) and the police/authorities had dozens of bank ribberies they could not solve so they blamed Dillinger - robberies 100s of miles apart on the same day (no intertnet system back then!!). It was easy to blame a known criminal then admit defeat.
The FBI could not solve DB Cooper but could solve McCoy and he was killed. Easier to blame a known individual then have the cloud over them on the Cooper file.
Just my one half Peso opinion - yours may be different

If I was one of the personnel involved with the McCoy investigation, I would certainly have some doubt he would have to be the DB Cooper. That's because just like some plenty of other people, I think that guy probably was successful having a good large portion of the money that was never found (especially if it wasn't destroyed by water, mud, etc). Also, I believe the DB Cooper guy (if perhaps actually being successful with the 1971 event), wouldn't be pulling another stunt in just 4 months later. For the DB Cooper subject being smart as details from the case have shown what he did, tells me that he had more than enough intelligence realizing not to put himself in higher potential risk of being caught in the 1972 event just after over a few months from the 1971 case.

In my opinion I think it's pretty straightforward to figure out that DB Cooper wasn't Richard McCoy.
As in my opinion is glaringly obvious that.the "real" Cooper had extremely little (or most likely zero) prior skydiving experience and absolutely no special military training.
But I'll tell you what, If you don't believe me let's just compare the difference between the two known jumps.
      ***COOPER***
:Instead of requesting required/familiar equipment, he failed to specify the kind of parachutes he wanted from authorities and just left everything up to chance
:He failed to dictate any specific flight path that he wanted the pilots to take and ensuring that they would fly over his jump point
:He didn't have the appropriate clothing and/or equipment needed to protect him during his jump or to facilitate his trek out
:He failed to check the weather report and/or he didn't care about the strong storm in the Pacific Northwest that was blowing in on the night of his jump
Note* just this one point almost guarantees that Cooper had no military training because (and trust me on this) anybody with military experience that was planning a night jump on that date and subsequently found out there was a bloody storm blowing through would 100% scrub that mission and wait for a safer window!
      ***McCOY***
:brought his own equipment that was needed for him to be successful
:He gave the specific flight information needed to take him to his designated jump point
:By giving the pilot details instructions such as. "I want you to follow this airway". "I want you to fly in this configuration. "I want you to fly at this speed"... He categorically shows prior experience and knowledge.
:By continuously asking for updates from the cockpit Such as the planes current location, the planes current direction and the planes current speed he was constantly getting the specific information he needed for the upcoming jump into his proposed drop zone. Note* Cooper had none of this viral information and was just YOLOing it I guess. 😳SMH
PS Righty ho guys, after reading that are seriously still going to tell me that the same person made both those jumps?

A private investigator/ aviation enthusiast named Dan Gryder investigated the DB Cooper case for years...and published his findings/ the story he uncovered in a two part video series over a year ago. The day he uploaded that investigative documentary over a year ago, fall of 2022, this case was solved, 100%. He absolutely gets 'top billing' for putting a fork in this case. A ton of federal law enforcement agencies had this puzzle completely solved in 1971/72 and lied to the American public for decades. It took Dan Gryder's work to finally blow the lid off this thing. My 2 cents anyways.

On my end, the voice of the narrator is juuust about to drown in all the other sounds, so I either have to guess what's being said or turn it way up and hear the voice marginally better, but then everything else becomes insanely loud🤨

If MacCoy was D.B. Cooper it is hard to explain why he would have let part of the ransom buried on the sandbank . I am pretty sure he would have fetch it and reburied it near his home in a proper box before doing a second hi-jacking .

I started to watch this video. It kept flashing flashing, flashing to different scenes of different topics. The music was louder than the voice of the narrator. I stopped the video and went right to comments. I did not watch any more of this video than 51 seconds. I am not a fan of the never stay on one scene for more than five seconds to instill a sense of excitement in the viewer, to try to make the video more interesting than it really is.. I just don’t watch those types of videos that make the picture change change change change like they were making a video for MTV

@@matthewclaridge8063 DB Cooper specifically requested a custom rig with the pull ring moved to the other side from its normal position I don’t recall what side that was but that info was kept from the media at that time. Requesting alterations to a rig clearly indicate a person with experience in jumping from a plane. No one who hasn’t would never alter such a device with only a few jumps or no jumps. As far as weather is concerned back then civilians were not privy to the same weather reports that pilots were. Local news probably didn’t have access to Doppler radar in those days. Predicting weather forecast was spotty and unreliable at best back then. I’m sure jumping in those conditions wasn’t ideal but what else was he gonna do with his wife waiting for him for a clean getaway. Even his kids have admitted he was DB copper after the mother passed. The FBI did a really bad job on this case not surprised.
