Shannon, I think what you both have done is absolutely amazing. It gets more beautiful with every project you do. I really admire you. You and your husband are so smart to plan and not go into debt for your home improvements. It’s an awesome thing to see how grateful you are for what you have right now. And side note - your kids are learning such valuable lessons from you about how to appreciate what they have. A rare example today.

I love that you didn’t go into debt fixing up your house. SMART. Although I don’t know how you did that at the beginning, needing to have most of the interior professionally painted, needing all new pipes, needing to fix most of the electrical, and needing a new roof! You guys are amazing.

It takes most people years to refresh or completely redo a home. My husband and I lived a lifetime before we finally redid our two bathrooms. It was done when we retired. 😂

Watching you do demo to your house reminds me of the things we found in our 70’s home when we did our projects! The biggest thing was they removed part of the bearing wall in the basement to make one big room on the end of the basement. We figured that out when our bedroom floor upstairs started to sink when we put our water bed in it. What a mess! So in goes the bearing wall and 2 bedrooms and a bathroom and a rec room and a craft room! We just got done re-doing our kitchen after we painted our cabinets 3 times. We finally got our dream kitchen! You’ll get there!

I just happened on your video and oh my goodness, I love what you and your husband have accomplished! My husband passed away 5 years ago, I bought a condo almost 2 years ago and I’m still trying to declutter, rearrange and decorate. Not an easy job!

Wow very smart choices, its smart of you guys to pay in cash for the major repairs and improvements. I like that you guys stuck with the 1950s theme of the house, repainting and repairing those old cabinets was a smart move, you guys turn that into a beautiful 1950s family home. I'm sure the property value has doubled👍👍👍👍

Great transformation! We glued peel and stick tiles down in our kitchen years ago due to budget and the goal that some day, we would totally redo it all. Well life gets in the way with kids etc. That glued down vinyl tile wore like iron! We had it for 20 years and it always looked new! Kudos for budget friendly improvements!!😊
Hello! I have just discovered your channel and subscribed. I am a DIYer myself (74 year old woman living alone) and this video really encouraged me. I am in the slow process of getting my home and property market ready so that I can move into a smaller place this time next year. I live in central NC and the summers are horrible here. I have created lots of flower beds over the years and in the process of tidying things up for curb appeal. Thanks for reiterating the message that a little bit at a time will help reach your goal. Congratulations! You were so smart to buy a fixer upper! We had the surprise plumbing system and roof, I feel your pain. You are being so smart! We bought our first house as a young couple, fixing it up, later sold it for more than we paid out. We bought our second house doing the same thing. You are being so financially responsible! The sitting area in front of the fireplace is great. A colorful rug will help to break up all the gray. I love the three pieces of art by the barn door. Maybe you could move the lamp to between two of the canvases and a couple smaller pieces on the other side. The art is beautiful, don't cover it. Love, love love the back yard!!! I've been following you for a few years and remember all these room renovations and projects. There was a lot of footage, that I don't remember, it was nice to revisit all the transformations, see new footage and the story of your home. Nicely done!

I have plaster walls, too 😩 I find it challenging to patch. Our home's previous owners attached the curtain rods horribly and they just ripped right out. Could you show how you patch the plaster? I feel like ours will look weird after because the wall has some texture and normal compound will be flat when we're done. Thanks!

Hi Shannon! Beautiful transformation . We moved from a condo (never again!) into OUR first SFH right before Thanksgiving and we are loving it!
It is a 1995 fixer upper, but brick front, great fenced in yard, beautifully landscaped front yard (including 4 rose bushes), and in a great established neighborhood
We have painted the master bedroom (they had painted it purple😂), and had to install a hot water heater but aside from that everything else can wait
Just painting needed and some carpet removal/new floor on our Carolina Room/screened in porch.
Very thankful to be in this home!!!

Oh lovely lady sooooooo glad you're back. Our renovations have now struck the two bedrooms where we chucked everything to be sorted later 😮 we'll it's now later and am in full swing in 10 minute increments of sorting and decluttering. It's amazing how much you can achieve. The rest of the house is sparkling thanks to the Diane's way as hubby calls it. Never underestimate the positive effect you have on so many people.
