When my Mum passed from cancer a couple of years ago, my Dad found a huge tote of every card she had received in 20 years. He read thru them, shared them with us, and we all had a good cry as he threw them away. Watching all my parents' belongings go into the bin after they passed showed me the futility of saving every little thing like I tend to do. I realize my children will some day be tossing my once-beloved items, so I'm trying to be more critical with what I keep. It's hard tho
I can relate... My mama just past last month from Cancer and as i look around her stuff i realized that they are hoarded things from long time ago. And it breaks my heart how she never used most of them. Its really heartbreaking that one day i will need to give them away her once precious things. I miss u ma.
I'm just at the intro and you know what? It is refreshing to see an actual lived in home with clutter spots. It's realistic. Not a fan of the videos where they clean it before they record and it already looks organized. Thank you for posting this. I really appreciate it!
I have found this video really inspirational as a neurodivergent with a whole neurospicy family. I started to declutter my conservatory while watching. Thank you for the inspiration, if you can do it I can too! Xx
I have a kitchen just like hers, but in Australia and it has ten times as many of those clutter filled drawers and cupboards. But I'm old and sick, and if I got down to the floor I'd never get up. I don't know what I'd be diagnosed with today, but at the time it was depression.
I loved watching your video, what ubsaid about your cards, I thought that I was only feeling about their precious meanings, I find it extremely hard to get rid of them!
I think why we are all attracted to your channel is because all of us can relate to you. We aren't as disciplined or professional as like the other channels. Your down to earth & honest approach makes us all believe it's possible to declutter even though it looks impossible! Thank you for your sharing & giving us motivation. Your son is so cute & you are a such a loving & supporting mum to him. Can't wait to see him grow up on this channel! ❤

@remiclog I suggest that you put the painting stuff in the closet with the vacuum, or under the sink around that corner in the back, and put **any boxed foods and plates, bowls, cups on a higher shelf.** Canned goods or things **in hard plastic packaging or containers** can go on a middle shelf. But you **don't want ANYTHING in cardboard or plastic bags or that you'll be eating or drinking from** in a lower cabinet. It's a food safety thing. Some people even store cups upside down and plates/bowls upright vertically, **like how they rest in a dishwasher or dish rack, NOT stacked**, especially in the past, to keep their dishes clean and keep critters off of them.
Remi, I haven’t had a lot of good, healthy consistency in my life. I had bad parents and when I got married (to a wonderful man) it felt too good to be true and inside I kept waiting for the shoe to drop. But he loves me dearly and has shown so. I got very sick right after we got married and we couldn’t have babies for 3 years. (Not as long as some, but still painful). And when it finally happened, I took three tests! And I kept them all. I kept mine from my last baby as well, she is my precious rainbow baby. I kept hers as well. My mom used to make fun of me for wanting to keep everything when now I know I was trying to keep a sense of stability and comfort in my life since I had none. I can see that with my son when we haven’t been good with a schedule and if we go through the toys, he wants to keep everything, even little broken pieces. I hope and pray that I can be a good mama to my sweet babies and a good wife. I love my sweet family and I’m still in shock sometimes that I’m out of my abuse, my previous life and I have such a beautiful life. I hate the ways I act like my parents, but I’m doing my best to try to be different and loving and encouraging to my children. It’s so hard to break generational stuff.
Hi Remi. Once again, letting you know that you are loved and appreciated for your honesty and inspirational videos. Grannie Cyndy from South Australia here. At 72 yrs old I am using your wonderful videos to inspire me to declutter before it's too late. I don't want to leave a mess behind. As you said, a little bit at a time works wonders for me. I have achieved so much over the last twelve months. And you have played a large role in my success. Thankyou so much Remi.
"I'm one whisker away from being the proud owner of a goatee!" OMG! I seriously love you so much! Thanks for making content and sharing it with UA-cam!! ❤❤
I just wanna pop by and say I'm loving this comment section! I'm sorry everyone that is having a tough time, my heart goes out to you 💜 And Remi, you are amazing! I sense a well needed community forming here, and it's all because you had the courage to share your hardships and experiences with us! Thank you 💖
I used to have old cards and letters miixed in with paperwork in misc boxes. I finally pulled them out and put them in a dedicated container. I did throw away the ones that had no real sentimental value. I kept everything from my Mom, my Mother-in-law, my son, my husband, and really special friends. When I run across them every few years, it's like a visit with my Mom, who passed away 30 years ago, and my friend who passed away 10 years ago. ❤❤
That is a good video - I'm 62 and diagnosed at 55 with ADHD and OCD and wondered why I struggled with stuff like this, its like living life in a three legged race! I'm decluttering and you have added to my inspiration to get it done! Lovely woman you are, lovely attitude, lovely kids, great actions - keep going its the long haul
You are the only cleaning channel I ACTUALLY watch, I could hear you talk all day, lovely accent and great narrator❤️ this is one of the most satisfying videos I’ve watched on your channel so far. Thank you for putting your heart in every video, you are so lovely. When you talked about your babies, I could tell how much of a lovely mother you are.❤️ sending you lots of love😘
I almost cried when you were talking about keeping the pregnancy tests and how you view the relationships in your life - like it's all too good to be true - ughhh that was so beautiful.
Remi what an incredible job you did Decluttering 👏👏👏 thank you so much for the shout out! That was incredibly sweet of you to mention me and my comment section is filled with “I’m here from Remi’s recommendation”. So appreciate you and grateful for your videos 🤗❤️
You’re more than welcome!! I love your videos, and you! I’m glad people have come over to check out your videos, you work so hard and deserve all of the recognition for that ☺️❤️
After I clean the kitchen every evening I declutter, clean, and organize one drawer or one shelf in the kitchen. It takes me 64 days to do the entire kitchen and pantry, then I start over again, in time your drawers will only need a quick tidy, you may even skip a drawer/shelf because it won't need attention. Edit: You got yourself a new subscriber, that was an epic job cleaning and organizing your kitchen! Watching from Arizona, USA.
I just lost my dad. He died 6 days after the 2 year anniversary of my mom's death. The loss of my father has made me feel like I need to make changes in my life. If they are watching over me, I want them to be proud and at peace. Hearing you say, "2024 is gonna be the year I no longer have unneccessary stuff smushed into every crevice of this house" gives me such inspiration to tackle my own cluttered home. Decluttering my house and getting things to where it's easier to keep it organized and clean would be like taking a huge weight off of my shoulders I think. I love watching your videos; I tell my husband all the time how relaxing they are. You're so so kind, caring, genuine, and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I know it's not easy to be so open and vulnerable to so many strangers. I wish you and your family well!
I am so sorry for your losses 😔 I love to hear how determined you are to take control of your space, because I believe it really does influence every other area of your life in such a positive way! I’m sure your mum and dad are so unbelievably proud of you right now, just as you are ❤️
I love your channel! I lived in England as a kid and having you on in the background makes me miss how nice, down-to-earth and open everyone was. I feel like I've been dropped off at a friends house for tea
I am on a decluttering journey as well. I live in the sunny South, USA. I’ve home schooled 5 children and am on my last one, a 13yog. Decluttering is way overdue because I was in the thick of farming many animals, tending a huge vegetable garden, while also milking 6 goats to make lots of cheese. Life has finally slowed down in my fifties. Your transparency and honesty are both comforting and inspiring. I love your accent! It was quite a shock to see how GIANT your husband is compared to you. Are you really that tiny or is he really a giant? I’m so glad I found you.
I really love that you are showing your son that cleaning can be calm and organized even if he spills everything. My husband still has a stress reaction when I am cleaning because his mother panicked cleaned just before guests arrived which lead to her screaming at the kids. It seems no matter how long we have been together and the fact that I keep my house in order so there is absolutely no stress cleaning, it still lives with him. I love your videos and teaching myself that you don’t have to be perfect and tidying can be done at a relaxed pace. Thank you for your videos.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy them! Bless your husband, I had a similar experience (as much as I adore my parents) it really does imbed itself in your psyche. And it’s one of the reasons I chose to parent the way I do ❤️
@@remiclogit doesn't sound weird at all. I have a favorite utensil as well. I prefer this sugar spoon that is from the set that came from my grandmother's house. And years and years ago I had this long handled spoon that was the milkshake spoon - the one my father used to make milkshakes for me with slightly melted ice cream and any add-ins. It is long gone, having been either thrown away accidentally - possibly left in an ice cream tub - or lost in the move, or donated. I wish that I still had that spoon every so often to this day - over ten years later. So no, you having a favorite spoon or utensil is not weird at all.
I'm still blown away by how alike we are in our approach to certain things. When you express some of the sentiments specific to the way your brain operates, and asking aloud if that makes sense, I find myself nodding along. And so much of it I've never felt able to share, so thank you for sharing your perspective. I'm so happy to know I'm not alone in some of this. ❤
You are so much like me, my daughter and grandson.with our ADHD. They have only recently been diagnosed with ADHD. Its hereditary. So the clutter is me. i found this video by accident and every morning i wake up thinking 5tart decjuttering and never do . But you have given me the push to start Thankyou
It’s odd but declutterring seems to get a lot easier the more you do it. When I started I really struggled. Now it’s a lot easier. I can let things go with less angst and stress. Things I kept thinking I needed them have now been let go as I realise I don’t. My wardrobe has gone from 110 items to 12. The stress has left me. It’s uplifting for sure.😊. Good luck to everyone on their journey. Ps. I also got rid of my junk drawer!!!😮. I put pens in my paperwork cupboard. Batteries in my tool kit in a little box. I just found homes for all the crap. It freed up a drawer for me to put utensils in so I could clear the counter tops. Result!😊
Isn't it great how that happens? You may also find that your threshold for clutter gets smaller and smaller over time, and that also makes it easier to get rid of things
This was a MASSIVE declutter!! I know from experience that this is going to be life changing for you and your family!!! You should be very proud. You have built your decluttering muscles to the point that you can handle anything. You've got this mama! This really will help you when you are running late, by knowing where everything is because everything has a home. Love the clip of your little helper. So precious
First of all, I enjoy your voice, and you really, really honest style and way of saying things. I am a bit of a freak and always have been. Consequently, family and friends often ask me to help them sort out their spaces. Listening to the way you think through the items and spaces in your life is the kind of thing that helps me to understand the needs and motivations of the people whose spaces I help tidy. Thank you so much!
You're an incredible woman!! I love who you are as a person. You're absolutely darling, and I love hearing your thoughts and your stories. Plus, you have a home like most people do, and I love that we have a place to go to get encouragement and relate❤
I've often divided clutter people into two categories, surface abuser and cupboard abuser, and I am definitely in the second category. You did an amazing job. I find that when my cupboards are properly decluttered and organized, all the other cleaning and daily life tasks become so much easier. I'm so impressed with how you stuck with it, even when it took longer than you expected, but just did one section at time until you were all done! Completing such a big job deserves a treat. I hope you gave yourself a nice indulgence when it was finished.
I found your video by accident. I was watching something else on UA-cam and saw you on the side. Watching your video made me smile and I just loved it. I'm 65 years old, married, with 2 kids and 3 grandkids. I retired a few years ago and have really gotten into downsizing and organizing. You are so real and honest that I couldn't turn the video off. Your son is just adorable and reminds me of my 3 and 2 year old grandkids, who always want to help. So glad I found you and I'll keep watching from the U.S.
I'm 73 and have gone through so many organizational periods. Nothing really helped until it clicked that you put it back where it came from. Once you establish its place, return it every time. That's The Rule. The seconds it costs you short term, saves hours of re-do, later. You're an absolute joy to watch, and several statements actually brought me to tears of joy and remembering. Thank you for that! If you teach your husband and kids the rule and insist on it, your life actually changes. But, you have to embody it.❤❤❤❤😂😂😊😊
@@vinniediaz6829you’re so right!! i apply this rule, it makes tidying fun because i don’t have to puzzle and think where i should store something, it has a perfect place where it lives 😊
Thank you Remi , you make the most difficult tasks look easy . Your intelligence, wit and empathic ability is what makes your channel special. You have no idea how much impact you make with your non judgmental attitude and view of life . Wishing you only the best ❤
What an amazing video! So TRUE! Not just some pinterest BS with all cleaning supplies color coordinated. I was super inspired by Konmari series on Netflix and decluttered my ENTIRE home, getting rid of 50% of my stuff. It took me like...8 months! (huge home, building materials as I remodel homes, staging furniture, garage and a storage unit). Best decision of my life! Now clean up is 100 times easier, less laundry, less stuff to take care of. I LOVE IT!!! You go girl! Please keep making videos. You are amazing.
Omg, you kill me. The chin hair confessions! 😂 You are a true delight, and so very relatable to me. Love Jodi Dunn as well. You might like "Danni Rearranged". She's spaz, but a very likeable spaz. She has been on a big house keeping journey and has really been getting it together.
I totally get keeping cards. I bought myself this A5 (?) sized folder for like a hundred cards and I keep them all, they're such a treasure! Not just birthday cards, but wedding invitations, birth announcements, postcards sent to me from holidays... They've gotten so rare that I keep them all. Neatly stored, but I keep them. They're like a time capsule
Hi, my name is Peggy and this is the first time I see your channel. You are so adorable, you made me laugh so much with some of the things you were saying. I really enjoyed watching you clean out all the cabinets and drawers and I've decided I will start tomorrow with one drawer just like you did. Thank you for inviting me into your home. God bless you and have a wonderful day.
I live in florida, USA. I decluttered my boyfriends house after his divorce. Took four months to get it "liveable". Took another 6 months to get the rest organized. But I clean the house (all 3000 Sq ft), every morning before going to work. You have done an incredible job on your home. Pick out an hour a day to keep up the Maintenance and you will see it gets easier! ❤❤
Midwest Magic mentioned your channel. You are so articulate and open. I wish I had watched you from the beginning because I don’t know your backstory. You do such a wonderful job and by the way I loved your braids when you were cleaning out the messiest cabinet feared.
Now I need a spinny plate for my cleaners! I LOVE cleaning with you Remi! Your house looks like a real, lived-in house. And your clutter is the same clutter that everyone has to try to manage every day.
I just wanted to share with you, that due to a pulled shoulder, and a dodgy wrist and back these last few weeks, I have put off clearing my kitchen, and putting the stuff in the dishwasher (I live alone, so only me to see it) but I took you on my laptop in my tiny kitchen with me, and whilst you were talking, I put all the dirty stuff in the dishwasher, ready to run it tomorrow! So thank you for inspiring me to get off my bottom, and clear that mess! xxx
I love your videos! Nice to see how normal things are-in real life. (I know myself, things can get so out of control, so quickly!) Love how you approach cleaning projects by breaking them down into smaller projects- keeps it less overwhelming! You're amazing! Thank you!!
I can definitely see you creating an habit of tidying and organising and soon becoming a minimalist. I have been watching old videos and recent ones and ita improving day by day. So exciting!!!
My favourite video of yours so far! I had tendency to collect too but one day I made a big, sweeping decision not to collect anything ever again. It was such a relief because I didn´t have to manage collections anymore. The big difference though was that I got rid of the feeling that something was uncompleted all the time, that something was missing to make things perfect. Ahhh... 😌
You did such a wonderful job. It doesn’t matter how long it may take, what is important is completing what you set out to do. You are a good mother, and the kids come first as they should. You are such a joy to watch and an inspiration.
My mom died a few years back, when I was 26... she kept EVERYTHING... our first hair trimmings, every art piece from early childhood, any card she had ever gotten, handwritten letters between her and her mom and her best friends from the 70s and 80s. Going through it all was tough. I don't have kids yet but I also am a sentimental hoarder. I wish there was an easy off switch.
I was in the same boat as you years ago, now I'm a mum I really wish I'd held on to some of her things. I have an ottoman full of her things but I still wish I wasn't so hell bent on giving everything away- the grief takes over and that overwhelms you. Sending you love ❤️
What a fab little helper it’s too cute isn’t it when they get all excited helping and it’s makes us keep going too. My daughter is 18 now I miss these days lol 😂 x
I must say that you are, hands down, my favorite creator! Thank you so much for making and sharing these pieces of GOLD! I recognize myself in you so much, as a fellow neurodivergent woman with two kids. It’s like hearing myself talking to myself. Again, thank you for sharing - your work (and you) is completely amazing and life changing ❤️
Wonderful, Remi! That must feel so good. Regarding the bedroom cupboard...if it was me doing it, I would grab two large boxes and a garbage bag, take a deep breath, start at the top shelf and pull everything on that shelf out piece by piece. Making quick decisions as I go, I'd separate everything into one of these categories: garbage, donate or sell, keep (in this room) or keep (but not in this room). Before moving onto the next shelf, put the garbage items into the bag, put the donate or sell items into one box and the items to be stored in a different room in another box. Put the items you're keeping in that room back onto the shelf they came from. Then and only then would you start on the next shelf. That way, if you're interrupted part way your whole cupboard hasn't been emptied onto the floor or bed and left in chaos. All you have are two boxes and a garbage bag in one corner of the room. After you've worked your way through the entire cupboard in this manner, the garbage bag goes out into the bin, the donate/sell box goes downstairs to be either taken for donation or sold, and the items that belong in a different spot in the house get taken to those areas. At that point you can go through your massively pared down cupboard and organize what remains in whatever way makes the most sense. It will probably feel pretty easy to do that now that you're left only with the items you really want to keep in your bedroom. Good luck! I'm so excited to see the next video and congratulations on how your channel has grown ❤
There is something about decluttering that does great things to our mindset. Once i started letting go of sentimental things like cards, it started getting easier for me to become unattached to a lot of clutter. It also started lifting up my spirits and clearing up my head. I'm not quite a minimalist but it is my goal. I also see a difference in my husband and kid's when they can live in a clearer, clutter free home. Turns out, my kid's don't even need a ton of toys. When we moved from a large house to a very small cabin style home, we got rid of so many toys and my kid's didn't even notice. They have their favorite ones and they play with them all the time.
Remi, you are absolutely amazing! This video was so inspiring. Everything look great about all that hard work and you should feel so proud of yourself. The amount of clutter from your sentimental cabinet you got rid of was epic. I can't wait for the next video.❤❤
What a fantastic job you've done. Just wanted to say I really enjoy your eloquent and thoughtful commentary. You're a delight to listen to. Thank you for your videos.
Well done! SUPER Declutter 👌 My advice for the upcoming big closet is have a few boxes /tubs and rubbish bags ready and instead of taking everything out and creating a huge mess just do the Declutter as you're taking stuff out. "Keep" stuff goes in a box and rubbish goes in the bag. When you've had enough or need to stop just pop the box back in the closet if it fits or pop it somewhere out of the way and the bag in the bin. At the end you can organise all the stuff you're keeping.
A 2 tier lazy Susan for the spices. Oil bottles with spouts for your oils. Containers for your flour and sugar. Preferably ones with handle’s. And an additional set of lazy Susan’s. And one of those organizers that looks like a set of steps for your jars and canned goods. All for the food cabinet. Keep the receipts if you over buy and return what you don’t need. Love your work REM! And your lovely family! From California, U.S.A.
You are a wonderful mom! Your patience with Ike and letting him help you is so wonderful! I am sure this will make him feel so loved and proud of himself for helping you. And great job on the clean up too!!
I started to get an overwhelming amount of plants in my house. I love them and they do make me feel good, but I realized at one point I had over 150 house plants. So I've been doing the thing you mentioned - every day I try to get rid of three plants. They have to go OUT of the house, either if they are not healthy they get tipped into the back of the garden, or if they are nice and I have several, I give them to a friend or put them on freecycle on Facebook. I can't bear to do one big declutter but knowing that I HAVE to get rid of three a day has really helped. I will probably stop in the nicer weather when I can put a lot of them outdoors, but at least I won't buy any more knowing how bad it got! As far as a suggestion, it seems like your shelves are sometimes deeper (higher?) than they need to be, which may be why you are always tempted to pile things on top of other items. I have used small 'add a shelf' metal shelves so that I can store lightweight items in my food pantry, so that I get two or three levels in one shelf. That might help.
This is a perfect use of the “3 a day” method! I get how hard it is when you have such an attachment to something, I think giving them to friends is a fab idea cause then at least you get to see how the plants are thriving ☺️
I just came across your channel, and wanted to say what a truly wonderful person you are ❤ I'm from the UK but live in China, and your videos are really helping me with missing home. I'm originally from Manchester and hearing your Northern accent is so comforting ❤
For spaces like clothes drawers and cleaning cloth/sponge boxes, you might try stacking the things in them vertically instead of horizontally, a la Marie Kondo. That way, you won't have to dig under things and dislodge the tops things to get to the bottom ones (like the sponges to get to the microfiber cloths), and they will all be in sight so you'll be able to see all the pretty things you have at once. Also helps to identify categories of excess or lack.
On the topic of Marie Kondo, she recommends that once you declutter (she says "tidy") an area, and it's sort of bare, that you put a picture or other small decoration there. It makes the area prettier and prevents the empty space from getting full again because there is a nice decoration there.
Loved this. The time you spent doing this will save you hours looking for items that you couldn’t find previously! You’ll know exactly where everything is! Whoop whoop! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
That is exactly how I declutter my kitchen. I took one cupboard at a time or two to three drawers. It took me almost two weeks (I have a big kitchen). I scrubbed everything as I went along and donated at the thrift shop after every cupboard was cleared out. I didn’t put it in a pile and wait. That’s a recipe for disaster. It’s such a relief to have it all done!
I enjoyed watching this video! One suggestion I have for the food cupboard is get some clear bins especially for the top shelf that is hard to reach. I have done this with most of my top shelf and it is so handy to just pull out the bin, get what you need and then put it back again. That way you can reach everything without getting a chair 😂
Remi, I just cleaned my cutlery drawer, I was pleased to see a dog hair in yours like I had in mine. Yes, I have favourite items, cups etc, but they do change from time to time; however there is a really heavy fork that none of us like using. We have a ASD household. I did my decluttering years ago, and the hardest thing is putting an item back in its place.
this was so satisfying to watch, i love the organisation you did with the labels and storage as you decluttered...i love decluttering it feels freeing to not have so much stuff, makes cleaning so much less daunting! ❤
You did a fantastic job!! It all looks so organized and nice! I am 68 year old Shane from Tennessee, USA. I seriously need to declutter. I will do my clothes closets next week. I love you Remi and have an obsession with England! Keep being yourself and I will be here for you!! ❤❤❤🎉
Dear Remi I doubt you will have time to read this but it might give others a bit of hope. It resonated when you mentioned that you can't do anything until the last minute or until the mess is at it's worst. Maybe my issues are not the same but as time passes I'm getting better. I now wash up after a meal, floors get attention regularly etc. I can find a container for my current craft project so it doesn't encroach on the rest of the house. Don't know if it was aging or what but things are definitely getting better. Not perfect but better. So don't beat yourself up and just do your best.
I like this video :) Just a head up - beware putting old or new batteries mixed in a box, its a fire-hazard. Store used batteries with tape in their ends and new ones making sure the + and - ends wont touch each other.
You are so soothing and motivating! I love your accent, too! There's nothing like kicking back after a stressful day and watching one of your videos to decompress! Much love from Pennsylvania, USA ❤ 🇺🇸
I actually do have a favorite fork and spoon as well. 😅 You're absolutely not weird for that. I literally only use them even though I have a lot of other spoons or forks. Also thank you for the motivation. I do have to do a massive declutter. I was starting and so motivated a few days ago but have to put a stop to it because I got sick now. I hope I'll be able to get back on track and not push it away to the future again. 😔
Oh bless you! That always seems to happen to me too! Whenever I get on track with something I’ll get sick in some way and it’ll throw me off my motivational streak! I totally believe you’ll be able to get back into it! 💪🏼
I've just started dipping my toe into decluttering UA-cam, and the algorithm said "Try this one!" I'm grateful to have come across a ND person decluttering their home, one that is like mine. Stuffed to the gills and overwhelming to tackle. You are giving me hope that I, too, can accomplish decluttering my home, even if it takes a month. Thank you for the motivation, the inspiration, and the reassurance that it's okay to not have a perfect system and to just go with the flow.
Wow!! The cupboards and drawers look great! I recently started cleaning and rearranging my house including the cupboards and drawers in my kitchen. I thought it would take me a week to 10 days. Nope! Its been 2 weeks and I'm only half done. It is stressful to throw away or donate items. I'm donating a lot of my kitchen items because I don't use them and relatives don't want them. I'm 66 yrs and I've been working on decluttering so my family won't have a mess to go through when I get sick/older. I really enjoy listening to you and then I sit down and watch you later in the week. You are so calming to listen to. You have a great program.
I have never yet found a channel as warm and relatable as yours! Thank you for another wonderful video. You have done amazing here and it’s soooo inspiring!! I adore how you are with your family, you set a great example for parents everywhere xx
@@remiclog honestly, I’m uk too, supermarket shift worker, mother of 3, hectic life!! Artistic and overwhelmed lol, So relatable! I just haven’t found another creator whose home I can relate to more, I look forward to all your videos 🥰
Thank you so much for your video. Listening to you inspired me so much. My husband and I finally did our kitchen. It was nice to wake up and everything was clean and organized. Love your channel ❤️ and your thoughts. ❤ Thank You❤
this is literally the most relatable channel i have ever found. Honestly just listening to you talk about ADHD motherhood in a positive and accepting way is so beautiful.
Thank u so much for making me feel less alone in my struggle to be organised & tidy. Also for the little tips & tricks & inspiration not to give up. You videos help me is so many ways. You are amazing and such a beautiful person.
You are a bright spot in the world! Appreciation for what we have is an awesome attribute. I did a little digging under the front seat of my vehicle this evening. I found a long, lost brush that I just knew one of my grandchildren had taken off with. 😂 I hope you find a jewel or something that brings you joy, in your bedroom closet. Thanks for the idea of taking pictures of our cards and memories. I also have trouble throwing things away, when they’re from the heart.
@@remiclog genuinely mean it flower. I'm in a bad patch of depression and ill health and your videos help me to kick my butt, but also your openness is amazing. Full support for you duck.xx❤️❤️
Growing up my siblings and I always fought over “the spoon”. It was thicker and heavier than all the rest and shaped different. We actually had to resort to taking turns on a sort of schedule for the coveted spoon! Perhaps it’s weird, but even now when I’m grown with my own house full of children, I still have a favorite spoon and I feel the same way as you when somebody takes it first.
What a pleasure to hear you narrate this video, you are wise beyond your years. I hsve recently declutteted our home and my life is so much better. Not wasting time and not managing things I don't use or need. Cleaning is now a simple chore.
I 100% enjoyed it. I also have a specific fork I use lol. It just feels better in my hand than all the others. The only difference is that everyone in my house makes sure I have that specific fork. Also, I really enjoyed the cleaning cupboard but Mushrooms cupboard was a runner up for sure. Also, hearing Ike being so helpful was just the sweetest thing. Thank you for filming the whole kitchen declutter, I know that has to add quite a bit of time to getting things done. Great Job Remi!
When you first said "Mushroom's drawer," I thought you were growing mushrooms😅 I thought this is going to be interesting. Then I realized that Mushroom is a pet!!😂
@@remiclog I'm sure you've talked about Mushroom in past videos & I just missed it. It was so funny to me because I was ready to learn about growing mushrooms in my cabinets!!😂
Remi, I love the way you do things. You are so practical, yet humorous. Your warmth and honest gratitude for what you have is so touching. The little clip with your son talking as y’all worked is priceless. Thank you for doing this, and best wishes always. You are a blessing to many of us.
I would put the potatoes and tins on the bottom shelf and keep the plates and dishes where they are more easily accessible. I'm sitting on my porch here in BC. Canada drinking my coffee and enjoying all the chat. Now I need to get up and do something!lol! Thank you darling for all your hard work and kind reminders to stop judging others. We're all walking around with wounds and need a little compassion. ❤
The only thing I would have done differently on the cleaning products cabinet next to the laundry, was stack the sponges and clothes half & half side by side, not one over the other. In a hurry, I probably wouldn't leave the sponges tidy if I had to dig under the sponges. I really enjoy your energy and conversation voice over. The spinning plate is called a lazy-susan in the US. I use it for condiment bottles on my counter. Truly amazing for organization. Thank you for being so honest and open with us. I am having a bad day, and sitting to have down time with you and your video is helping me relax. ❤ I am ND as well.
Thank you for being so honest and showing us the real deal. So many decluttering videos are people with nothing to declutter and that doesn’t help. Well done!
I’m working on DEcluttering my kitchen spaces while listening to you. It is so energy draining. But enough is enough! So I’m happily listening to you finding it so encouraging. I like to think I was polite in other people’s homes so could never understand why I would be told visiting an Aunties home NOT! to go into her living room cupboard every single time for years. As a teenager and a working girl I was at my Aunties one day when she called me into the washhouse asking me if I would please go into that very cupboard to get something for her. Just as I was about to open the door I heard my mother’s voice again. I told myself it can’t be wrong when Auntie has asked me to. So open the door I did! Only to stumble backwards when an avalanche hit me. It seemed like half of the cupboards contents fell on top of me! On telling Mum when I got home she simply said. “Why do you think I always told you not to go into that cupboard?’ 😱🤣🤣🤣
Thank you Remi, I appreciate your open and honest approach to what we all have (and all too often hide from others) in our homes. You help me feel normal and I get a boost of enthusiasm to tackle things in my home by watching your down-to-earth videos. I have just retired from work - well, paid work that is - and I want to declutter my home of the last six years so I can feel comfortable having people over for a cuppa or dinner in my twilight years😊 Also, I want it all organised in case I get sick and have to go to hospital. I will be able to tell them exactly where to find things I might need. We all have a Messy Drawer but I found once that fills up I have another messy drawer and on it goes! By the way, the knife holder you referred to? It's a Knife block ... you were nearly there my dear. Much love to you and yours, thank you for your kindness in helping the rest of us xx💖💖💖🌹 P.S. Why the hell do builders make those ridiculous inaccessible corner cupboard spaces? I wish they would just block that space off. I have one in my kitchen. I have put things back there that I don't use instead of throwing them away AND I get frightened reaching in just in case there's a creepy-crawley or two hiding there😆
When my Mum passed from cancer a couple of years ago, my Dad found a huge tote of every card she had received in 20 years.
Sorry for your loss ❤️🩹
I sooo get this , lost my mum last month 🦋
@@jaynep367 I'm so sorry for your loss. Death is truly our worst enemy. 💔
I really appreciate it!
there are actual people whos houses are already qquite organized, i dont think that they necesarilly clean it beforehand 😅
Ditto! Great to see normal mess. 😊
But most of them just do it for content and it is not real@@karin-jessikaheubeck6536

I have found this video really inspirational as a neurodivergent with a whole neurospicy family. I started to declutter my conservatory while watching. Thank you for the inspiration, if you can do it I can too! Xx
Neurospicy 😅 I have a daughter with PMLD and I'm convinced I'm ADHD undiagnosed. I am going to use this term to describe us in future!!!
I have a kitchen just like hers, but in Australia and it has ten times as many of those clutter filled drawers and cupboards. But I'm old and sick, and if I got down to the floor I'd never get up. I don't know what I'd be diagnosed with today, but at the time it was depression.
I'm a serial card keeper as well and it has NEVER occurred to me to take photos and let go of that guilt! Thank you so much!!
I loved watching your video, what ubsaid about your cards, I thought that I was only feeling about their precious meanings, I find it extremely hard to get rid of them!
I've never even thought of doing that. Thinking I can keep special occasions cards and get rid of the rest. Thanks for the idea 😊xx
Your lovely voice and cleaning tips get me going. I am disabled with illness and washed my kitchen floor today. Woohoo🎉
Oh what a lovely thing to read! Thank you ☺️ ❤️

I’m 72 and u inspire me to declutter I don’t want to leave my kids with a bunch of junk to get rid off .
I'm sorry everyone that is having a tough time, my heart goes out to you 💜
And Remi, you are amazing!
How beautiful ❤️
I find that a knife block is great if you only have 4-6 knives. Anything more, the Block just doesn't seem to work for me.
You’re such a wise young woman. It’s taken me 63 years to come to the same conclusions as you! You are an inspiration to many I’m sure!
I'm watching from AZ also!
I really like your idea of tackling one kitchen drawer or shelf every evening - think I will try it myself. Thanks!
I’m sure your mum and dad are so unbelievably proud of you right now, just as you are ❤️
💖
💕 so sorry to hear
Your house is for YOU, not for your stuff! You can totally do this. You're not a slave to stuff!
And it’s one of the reasons I chose to parent the way I do ❤️
It's called a butcher block where the knives are stored. I didn't use it either when my child was younger.
Great video. You make decluttering, tidying and cleaning fun. I don’t know how you do that but you do. Your videos are always motivating too.
Oh what a lovely thing to read! You are absolutely not alone ❤️
Your son's little voice, "I'm helping you", is just too adorable!
Listening to you speak is like listening to an audiobook ❤ your voice is so lovely and you are so articulate
Result!😊
Thank you for this advice it was super helpful! 👍
That's my goal, as I have a tiny kitchen and 2 junk drawers lol
I was thinking that too! Just don’t have a junk drawer! Everything really has a true home that’s not in a junk drawer.
It’s true that it gets easier-decluttering is like a muscle that gets stronger the more you use it! 💪🏻
So precious
Thank you so much!!! I’m so hoping this is the case 🥰
Life changing and you become addicted 😅 I start same👍🏻
REMI, You’ve been hiding these treasure trove cabinets from us! This content is absolutely golden. ❤
Thank you so much!!! Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
First of all, I enjoy your voice, and you really, really honest style and way of saying things.
I'm a surface abuser! My cupboards are normally immaculate lol. My mom is a cupboard abuser. You can eat off her floors.
Thank you so much, what a lovely thing to read!!! 🥺 wishing the same for you! ❤️
This video just goes to show the power of determination and hard work. You did an OUTSTANDING job!🎉
Thank you so much!!! ☺️
I love Danni! She always brightens my day.
I might see why he's divorced. Is he cleaning every day?
Wow, 3000 sq. feet is a MASSIVE JOB. 😳
Midwest Magic mentioned your channel. You are so articulate and open. I wish I had watched you from the beginning because I don’t know your backstory. You do such a wonderful job and by the way I loved your braids when you were cleaning out the messiest cabinet feared.
I never comment on youtube but you posted this video right when I needed a mental pick me up, thank you Remi. I love your videos 💜
Ahh this makes me very happy! Thank you ☺️ ❤️
Now I need a spinny plate for my cleaners! I LOVE cleaning with you Remi! Your house looks like a real, lived-in house. And your clutter is the same clutter that everyone has to try to manage every day.
They’re definitely my new favourite thing!! Thank you, glad you enjoy it here 🥰❤️
Please link of the spinny plate
Ahh thank you for noticing this!! 😊
Ahhh... 😌
That sounds like the biggest relief! And that last sentence hit home!! ❤️
I really like hearing you talk. It's very calming and like your taking all the stuff in my head and making it make sense.
Oh my heart! Thank you so so much!! 🥺❤️
I love this!!! It’s such an uplifting thing to read! This is my hope in my decluttering journey too, so thank you! ☺️
Remi, you are absolutely amazing! This video was so inspiring. Everything look great about all that hard work and you should feel so proud of yourself. The amount of clutter from your sentimental cabinet you got rid of was epic. I can't wait for the next video.❤❤
Thank you so much!! I’m very chuffed ☺️❤️
What a fantastic job you've done. Just wanted to say I really enjoy your eloquent and thoughtful commentary. You're a delight to listen to. Thank you for your videos.
Well done! SUPER Declutter 👌
My advice for the upcoming big closet is have a few boxes /tubs and rubbish bags ready and instead of taking everything out and creating a huge mess just do the Declutter as you're taking stuff out. "Keep" stuff goes in a box and rubbish goes in the bag. When you've had enough or need to stop just pop the box back in the closet if it fits or pop it somewhere out of the way and the bag in the bin. At the end you can organise all the stuff you're keeping.
Your son’s voice is absolutely adorable! Brought tears to my eyes. 🥰
Thank you, such a lovely thing to read! 🥰
I just came across your channel, and wanted to say what a truly wonderful person you are ❤
I'm from the UK but live in China, and your videos are really helping me with missing home.
Great advice! Thank you, I’ll be sure to do that 😊
On the topic of Marie Kondo, she recommends that once you declutter (she says "tidy") an area, and it's sort of bare, that you put a picture or other small decoration there.
It really is the biggest relief!! 😁
Great effort from a fellow neurodivergent mum from Sydney. Loved the satisfaction you felt throughout.
I totally agree with you there! My problem is also putting things back every time! And that heavy fork sounds very upsetting 😂
Also: install a magnetic strip on the kitchen wall and add knives.
I cleaned my fridge out before Xmas and there was dog hairs in the bottom of it! Best wishes from Northern Ireland.
this was so satisfying to watch, i love the organisation you did with the labels and storage as you decluttered...i love decluttering it feels freeing to not have so much stuff, makes cleaning so much less daunting! ❤
You did a fantastic job!! It all looks so organized and nice! I am 68 year old Shane from Tennessee, USA.
I seriously need to declutter. I will do my clothes closets next week.
I love you Remi and have an obsession with England! Keep being yourself and I will be here for you!! ❤❤❤🎉
I love you woman! You give me hope, and I am up and decluttering . Thank you❤
Dear Remi I doubt you will have time to read this but it might give others a bit of hope.
Have just ‘discovered’ you and I think you’re brilliant. Watching you declutter and listening to you chatter is like having a new friend
I've just started dipping my toe into decluttering UA-cam, and the algorithm said "Try this one!"
I'm grateful to have come across a ND person decluttering their home, one that is like mine.
Oh this has made my day! Thank you! ☺️❤️
Thank you so so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
You help me so much. My depression is at the worst. I watch your videos every day . Your amazing
It honestly means the world to hear that! I’m sorry you’re feeling this way, sending so much love ❤️
You did an amazing job! The cabinets look so clean and organized. Congratulations. 😁
Thank you!! I’m so happy!! 😁
Remi, I am gobsmacked at how easy you made decluttering look! What a fantastic video!
Love love love your video's especially the longer ones. Keep it up sugar. You make some of us feel we are not all strange! Xx❤❤
Thank you so much! So pleased you enjoy them! 🥰
@@remiclog genuinely mean it flower. I'm in a bad patch of depression and ill health and your videos help me to kick my butt, but also your openness is amazing. Full support for you duck.xx❤️❤️
Woo hoo. Been waiting for this. Thanks for posting xx
You’re so welcome!! I hope it was worth the wait 😁
@@remiclog always. I absolutely adore your videos. You're so relatable, and I love how grounded you are. I'm so glad I found your channel. X
This has made me burst out laughing! Taking turns with the spoon 😂 fantastic memories, love that so much!
What a pleasure to hear you narrate this video, you are wise beyond your years. I hsve recently declutteted our home and my life is so much better. Not wasting time and not managing things I don't use or need. Cleaning is now a simple chore.
Don’t let anyone tell you different. You are a great mom!
Yay I'm so excited for this video!!!
I hope you enjoy! ☺️
I should have clarified that beforehand!!! 😂
@@remiclog I'm sure you've talked about Mushroom in past videos & I just missed it. It was so funny to me because I was ready to learn about growing mushrooms in my cabinets!!😂
Is it just me, or does it drive anyone else bonkers when stickers are left on things?
Thank you, I am 70 and you have inspired me to tackle my mess.
Wow! Fabulous job! I feel better just watching your success. And I haven’t even worked on anything in my own home. 🤣👏🏻
Much love to you and yours, thank you for your kindness in helping the rest of us xx💖💖💖🌹
