Not just everyday do you see a grain bin going down the road being moved by a vintage Big Bud tractor. Not to mention a airplane flying down the road. Very cool stuff.
Nick and Scott, it's called the venturi effect. I have seen it a number of times in our area. Strong winds blow at and around bins, silos and other tanks. In the process of blowing in between curved structures the air accelerates much faster than around the outside of the structure. In turn if there isn't anything in the bin to support the wall the pressure will collapse the wall. I even had a minor collapse of a bin wall above the level of the grain in the bin. It was about 2/3s full and we had winds in excess of 80 mph.
Nick, your 2nd instructor was so right about being able to fly at ground effect level, you learn what to do and how, without the massive bump if you miscalculate something. Nice to see someone knows what and why. I bet the first instructor had no choice but get up because of urbanisation (High buildings). safer up high, you get to see them earlier! Just love Bob's hanger/lifting device. So simple it just has to work! Good to see you all working together too. From UK.
My dad was a B-24 pilot over Japan and when he returned home he instructed and met my mom. One time there was parade in town and he he landed the airplane he owned on the highway leading into town, taxied down main street for the parade and took off on the highway on the opposite side of town. So yea get low and have fun!!!
That series 1 is so cool looking. love the windoes in the cab and the stance with those tires. The drone shots of the Bud with the grain bin behind it was EPIC!
What I really like and find amazing is the can do mind set your family has! Doesn’t mater what it is you guys find a way! It’s a testament to your family and your continued success in farming where you do. So hard to scratch a living farm where you do👍
Your drone footages for whatever reason are always fantastic you seem to capture the background of the mountains the planes and the activity. I'd give anything to be there to see what you guys see everyday
Started playing FS25 yesterday with the addition of GPS for console it’s sooooooo good makes the game so much fun” soon as your farm is on I will be hitting it 😃👌🇬🇧
Yeeee-Haw! Bob's Big Bud Bin Boom! One of my favorite tools you guys use around the place! I enjoyed all the other details...the plasma cutter, generator, center pull jack and so on! glad you had the pads and rings prepared! Thanks for the fun video, I really appreciate it! God bless your whole family!
19:39 built grain bins in high school for a couple summers. Hot, hot, hot and three of is with socket wrenches. Lol. No such luxury as cordless drivers back then. Good memories!!
When you start them old school mechanical link Cummins hold the throttle wide open it gives full fuel to the engine when it fires pull it back to idle ,,makes starting quicker and easier
Everything I know about farming I learned through playing farming Simulator 😂..... Thank you guys for allowing your farm to be on the game. I just hope this time with FS25 we will get the Big Bud sprayer 😮
Thanks for another great video Welkers. It was most certainly interesting and enjoyable to watch. This is a different project for sure. Great way to move a grain bin down the road. You guys have this kind of project down pat. Neat how you do it. Like that device you made to lift the bin with. Neat gadget to have. Does the job. Once you have the bin set on the new pad it seems to go pretty good. Lots of bolts and nuts to do. The drone footage was excellent. A new perspective of the bin going down the road. Excellent footage. Thanks. Looks like you are getting this project towards completion. Good job Welkers. My compliments to you for all your engineering on the project. Thanks for everyone. You all take care. My blessings to you all The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
So cool to see all the different projects you guys do. Your family are roll models of how family should be, your parents did a VERY good job. I truly enjoy your videos.....
My family farms in Ohio, and as we increased our grain operations we had bought some used grain bins in the local area. But with our infrastructure, we sure couldn’t move them like you guys can. We had to rent the jacking system and separate every ring and roof panel.
Capt. Bob W. an Air Force R-F4 pilot (R=reconnaissance)/instructor gave me very very low flying lessons in my Cessna 120. We had to get up to clear barbed wire fences.
I had a couple smooth wall Westeel bins like yours that got dented in a plow wind. I filled them with barley the first time after and the dents popped out. The next year I filled them with peas and one collapsed.
Dented bin from wind pressure? My brother in laws by Magrath Alberta seal the lid and bottom, fill it with a few psi of compressed air, from a big portable compressor, 185 CFM. Pops it back out quite nicely!! No product filling and kicking necessary…
That is too awesome see the gran bin move down the road like that! I want to live out there !!!! I thought they used gasket material between the joints???
"Don't mind us, just taking our bin for a drive" 😁 You might want to liaise future bin moves with the local flying instructors ..... that would be an awesome obstical to fly around!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Hey Nick, very first video I ever saw you. I saw a little clip of you. I think it was in Colorado. You were just getting out of school and heading back to the ranch and always wondered if you kept up with flying. I’m not sure the answer to that but as a 172 driver Michelle, I totally agree with you. I loved flying in Montana and doing the very same thing that you were talking about with ground effect.
This is great love the channel Walker family. You did a great job and continue to do so I have been with this streaming for quite a few years and I was just thinking of when I first started viewing you guys you were storing the big mountains of it and I thought that was pretty unique and I don’t know. I can’t remember how many bins you had but it just evident you didn’t have enough so good job.
Are we going to get to see the finished product of leg arms house? We don't need to see his personal stuff, but seeing the house finished would be awesome

Iv did that with a simple size bin but with a bin crane pulled behind a t-670 I thot I was cool goin down the road but this is way cooler lol

You guys are amazing the way you get projects done with home made cranes and that beautiful BIG BUD !

That is a pretty darn slick way of moving grain bins. You guys have it all figured out and make it look simple and easy.
You gotta thank the farmers for all of our food.....Thanks Dad,Scott and Nick......GOD BLESS.......
Old F-4 pilot Shoe🇺🇸

Nick...you made taking that bin cap off so difficult. All you really needed was a giant bottle opener!
Love the camera shot at the end underneath the Bud and bin.
At 22.17 , that is a hell of a big beer cap !

My thoughts exactly

Great to see you gettin it done.. The most self sufficient farmers around..
Love it…when in a plane it isn’t the sky that kills you… it is definitely the ground that kills you when things go bad…Great advice 👌
"Bobs Bin Boom" works pretty darn good! American ingenuity!😊

You fellas are a trip! Thanks for the great entertainment and education at the same time.

Well at least you're getting it done while the weather is still kind of nice moving the Bins and putting them on the new hoppers
When you start them old school mechanical link Cummins hold the throttle wide open it gives full fuel to the engine when it fires pull it back to idle ,,makes starting quicker and easier

Way cool to see the old big bud!
I’d absolutely love to work on y’all’s farm. Y’all have cool toys & projects. Heaven on earth.
Beautiful old Bud, what a sight going down the road, I have never seen a silo moved like that here in AUS anyway. Cheers 🇦🇺🦘
So cool to see all the different projects you guys do. Your family are roll models of how family should be, your parents did a VERY good job. I truly enjoy your videos.....
New things we learned, Nick is a pilot and one who can fly a plane on the ground. That explains the really good drone footage he gets.
He has mentioned it many times before over the years. It went along with what he studied in school.
Big Bud, heck of a name, lovin it ❤....RTR
Love the shots of the big bud with the big bin. Great video
Very cool! You folks are amazingly talented.
That’s impressive seeing that big bud with a crain on it carrying a grain bin on it I would love to see that in person
Great job moving bins guys
Long shot starting at 14:28 is just excellent. Great job!
Dewalt or Milwaukee makes a cordless tire inflator. Used mine on a tractor in a pasture today. You guys should look into one!
Ground level~ ~BigBud and the bin going down the road=very cool!

Infrastructure and equipment.... very cool
Your ability to be self sufficient is remarkable.... enjoyed watchin .. God Bless

Fantastic and informative video! Love to watch and wait for your next video!!!
I've played FS22. I'll hold off on getting FS25 for now because I'm enjoying ATS and ETS2 at the moment.
I had a couple smooth wall Westeel bins like yours that got dented in a plow wind. I filled them with barley the first time after and the dents popped out. The next year I filled them with peas and one collapsed.
Very interesting to see you move the bins. It’s a first for me.
Awesome 👍😎
Blessings from South Texas 🙏🇺🇲🚜🚜🙏
Awesome video guys. thank you

I have always wanted to build a 2 story house out of a grain bin.
You guys are working Hard, thank for this video
Around me there taking the 10 or 12 foot bins and making outdoor patios. They supports the tops and take out 6 foot of middle sections.
If there's a will there's a way! Neat idea on moving the grain bins!

Fun to see your farm in a farming video game
5-6 vertical angle irons may be needed for support.
Very cool project!
You should make a big 3 by 3 picture of the bud and the green bin and hanging up in the shop somewhere quite a unique picture
I just love that secret plug for the starting fluid, nice. I retired from running diesel motors in large earth moving equipment
Love seeing the series 1 out with Bobs Big Bud Bin Boom!
