Man! I remember being a young drummer, popping the DVD for the first time and after 30 seconds my jaw was on the floor. Still watch the DVD to this day, super inspirational stuff!

Methods and Mechanics is the GOAT of drum instructional videos! I see that black hair and I realize we are all getting older...but Todd seems to still be getting BETTER. At the top of my list (a crowded list indeed) of awesome drummers.

@@GregJacobs Yes, I would love to have a huge high end kit like that. But with today’s prices on drums it will probably be a while 😅
His kit is probably around $20k for the drums alone, and another $10k for hardware & cymbals 😬
@@GregJacobs With that said I play a reasonably big kit myself. But an extra kick and a gong drum wouldn’t hurt ✌🏻😂

@@flowerlandofjohn agreed, is purely wishful thinking to have a lot like that. I have airways been a fan of Pearl drums and gear, so seeing this kit got me thinking until reality ($$$$) set in.

Drummer ergonomics are such a trip, so infinitely varied. I have NEVER seen a drummer put their ride out in front of their toms. SO far to reach out there, but he looks comfortable. 🤯
I remember getting this DVD after having seen you at AUDW in Melbourne in 2015 and I remember thinking how particularly beautiful this piece was.

This was the song that hooked me at your 2004 Musicians Institute clinic. I was a naive young rock drummer and I had no idea the drum set could support this kind of music. My drumming world was forever changed as I delved into Return to a forever with Lenny White and, of course, Jean-Luc Ponty with Steve Smith.

One of my favorite drum videos. This is perfect. Todd showcasing his massive vocabulary of rudiments, stick control, independence, volume control, feel, touch, phrasing, dynamics, nuance, musicality, power and creativity. It's why he's been in my top 10 for years along with a few unknowns like Weckl, Smith, Colaiuta, Donati, Dicenso and a few other hacks nobody's heard of. 😉

That s an awesome druming part and constructed with a clever mind set. I had difficulties to figure out initially the time signature but it sounds like it is in a 13/8. That s disturbing at first from a druming perspective but after listening the melody it becomes so obvious! Main reason why it is super important to listening to the melody and other instruments, especially the bass line.
