Todd is unbelievably kind and generous and wants to teach and share what he has learned - i am fortunate enough to open for these big classic rock bands that I grew up with and of all the people I have met - Todd is by far the coolest - I was at a clinic of his too and I highly recommend it to anyone on any level- He even helped me and answered some questions for me 4 months after we first met - First class dude And a monster behind the kit
Another great video, Modern Drummer. Todd Sucherman makes those Pearl drums sound like thunder! Again, I hope to see a tour kit rundown from Kelly Keagy, Tommy Aldrige, Rick Allen and Deen Castronovo. Thank you, Todd Sucherman for the drum cam, wish more drummers did this!
I have seen Todd Sucherman (Styx) in concert more than once and the performance is real. They give 110% performance and love to the audience every night they're on stage. All are extremely talented musicians, and Sucherman is like a machine on those drums. I'm a drummer, nothing compared to Todd Sucherman, but I have played drums and seeing Todd Sucherman play is an honor. He is a master on the drums and I very much appreciate him as an artist/musician. Thank you, Todd Sucherman!
First saw (and heard of) him in 1996 when he first started with Styx! Was amazed at his playing, and knew that he would be one to follow. Over the years, YT videos, and the odd release with him, then when the DRUMEO stuff started clicking, I watched a lot of his videos. Great technique, great player, and just love hearing him. Went to see Styx last month, mainly to see him live again, and was blown away! For the budding drummers out there... FOLLOW THIS GUY, YOU WILL LEARN!!!
Saw Todd before the show in my hometown Really nice guy and was very knowledgeable when asked some questions! I have always loved Styx since I grew up in the eighties!
Of course hes talking about the drum waiter thing can hold your watch as hes wearing an AP Royal Oak lol! Also his HH Sessions Ride is a voodoo magic cymbal. Everything he says about it it spot on and the 20 years or so they apparently worked on it was worth it.
I have been a professional acoustic drummer for many moons and I never dampen any of my drums so they can naturally resonate for as long as possible. 😊
Todd has become my favorite drummer over the years my cousin went to Burklee School Of Music with him.Over the years he has progressed into with Styx the most amazing sound and drummer. He mixes what was there and then blows them out of the water with his ingredients he adds to the recipe phenomenal!!
10 years ago, I wouldn't have been couldn't been caught DEAD playing 15" hats, or even 14" for that matter, I was all about the 13" hats. Then as I got a little older, and my taste changed, 15" is my go-to size now. I don't even own a pair of 13" anymore.
i love Todd's playing! He takes what could be seen as a "legacy" band gig and doesn't coast. I won't show shade as a generation X kid myself. My favorite older 90's bands are doing the same touring circuits. But you know where I'm going, some of these younger guys take gig with these older legendary bands. But the bands basically do a greatest hits set and the drummer just does cheesy classic rock power moves and straight ahead timekeeping. And it can make the music boring. Todd keeps Styx fresh with killer chops that are exciting without being too flashy, but not cheesy. He drives the band and gives them energy. A drummer on a drum forum once posted he was was very disappointed in the drummer of a long touring "legacy" older band he went to go see. He felt the older band members looked tired and unenergetic, ran though their old hits like they had a million times before, and the newer younger drummer kept everything sounding stale and boring. When he did try to add excitement it came in the form of of those cheesy predictable rock drum licks I mentioned before. "Triplet stick twirl!" The poor guy felt like the band almost needed to retire! (I won't name the band out of respect.) But Todd always keeps it new, fresh, inspired and fun. He keeps Styx from sounding tired and boring, which is a sad thing older bands that have been touring for fifty years or so can sound like. He gets it and respects Styx's legacy, but also does his thing and has fun and we love him for that.
yeah, I don't get his mix. Such awesome drums and mics, but his overheads have the most nasty mids boosted and his shells have no attack left. No mids, nothing. To get audix mics, to sound that weird you gotta EQ the hell out of them. Imo they sound better with no processing at all. But he plays great, so what do I know :D
@@Lumerdrums да, его микс отличается от многих других , которые я слышал. Но думаю, что в зал идет совсем другой звук, и там все в порядке. Возможно это сделано для лучшей фокусировки на игре барабанщика.
He's an incredible drummer but he is severely OVERPLAYING here.........WAY too busy ........compared to the original drumming which was FINE .....STYX doesnt need Vinnie Colaiuta fills
The Rolls Royce of drum kits. Love Todd’s playing, thanks for this.
Clearly one of the greatest drummers of my lifetime. He always amazes me. In a world without Neil Peart, thank God there is a Todd Sucherman.
Well said, sir!!!
Very well said! And underrated IMO as well.
Agreed 100%!!
The confidence in his playing is mesmerizing, seriously one of the best to ever do it!!
Two decades of playing the same songs 200 times a year takes you to a whole other level
His first drumeo solo is my favourite drum solo of all time. Mind blowing stuff.
Always comes across as a nice dude and what a great player he is. Great kit as well 👍🏻
I love Todd. He just may be my favorite drummer. Well-rounded, a humble, down-to-Earth "regular" guy.

First class dude
And a monster behind the kit
Thanks for the video. Todd is a great drummer. One of the all time best! Styx is lucky to have him.
Thank you, Todd, David and Modern Drummer. Really enjoying these videos. 👍🏼
Marvelous drummer. Marvelous kit.
❤❤❤TODD IS SO EXPRESSIVE AND ENTERTAINING TO WATCH
Excellent drummer and incredible moves.
Absolutely amazing drummer! With killer taste! You rock!
A shout out to your drum crew 👍.
Beautiful kit and huge Drummer
Todd is Always in my Top 10!! Killer Cat!!
I Just Love the Sound and Finish of these Pearl Masterworks Drum's. Pearl The Best Reason To Play Drum's.

That ride cymbal is fantastic.
I've been waiting for this video for a long time. Thank you so much
What a set of drums
Love Todd and the band!!!
Such a huge fan! His drums have so much tone and body.
I need to go back to some Ambassador drum heads. Wow!
All hail the great and powerful drum tech, MARK PETROCELLI!
My wife doesn’t call him “Superman” for nothing. He’s a monster behind the kit. What a superb musician.
Im so glad I saw styx. They were sensational and Todd is a phenomenal drummer.
Great video!
Never got to see Ryan , but heard another hard thrower, Goose Gossage hitting the mitt warming up at Fenway. Love the analogy.
absolutely beautiful .........💛
This makes me happy. Here we go!!
Saw Todd before the show in my hometown Really nice guy and was very knowledgeable when asked some questions! I have always loved Styx since I grew up in the eighties!
Snare and toms are incredibly sick sounding!!!
Entire set sounds incredible!
Amazing
Drums for an amazing drummer!!
Sick!!! Todd is one of the best in the world currently playing imo. 🥁🔥
Total badass ❤❤❤❤❤
Wonderful and musical playing !!
Tuning the bottom higher than top on toms...I will try that, thanks Todd
Love the Sonor Signature HH Clutch!
Todd "THE MACHINE" Sucherman
Killer! Great job Todd!

Machine
Yessssss fucking finalllyyy God I love Todd
I like Todd! Maple drum sticks and no electronics.
Haven't been here this early since the last tour kit rundown. YuUuuUUurrRr
Those drums sound addicting
Killer!

You guys need to talk about those cymbal stand mic clamps that he uses. Where can we get some of those?

Он заслужил золотые барабаны , без сомнения ! )
I don't understand the clutch on 7:10 , anyone has any idea what that is, how it works?

07:15 which brand of hi-hat clutch is that please? Very interesting but simple design.
💛🖤💛
Bless David's heart. Someone should tell him about proprioception.
With that camerA, I thought they were on a cruise ship 😅
I've seen it on Todd's channel, but that is a beautiful setup.
❤
Covered everything in a orderly manner, let this be the blueprint going forward.
He forgot to mention his little 2" cymbal or his tambos, and chimes
Curious to know what that Korg T3 is doing to the left of the kit?
Is the 6" Tom actually custom made for Todd? (the size in general)
I LIKE WHEN DAVE INST IN THE VIDEOS MORE
Was really hoping this would be in 4K (2160p), but we only got HD (1080p). 🤔
Met Todd at an airport in New York. Him and the guitar played were hitching a ride home. Didn't know who the guitarist was until Todd showed up lol.
If you can. You should do a video with Eloy Casagrande from slipknot and do a rundown of his drum kit for the next video
Great sounding drums, I have to know, is a click being used? Doesn’t sound like it, because it feels so good
Oooohhhhh yyyyyyeah
Looks like the black cams on the bd pedals, and are the baseplate hinges modified? (Bd and hi hat pedal)
Not a criticism, but his voice sounds off from what I'm used to. Legendary drummer!
I wish Pearl would make a gong drum with more of an extended collar.
He’s up there with Rikki Rocket
What was the name brand of that stick holder and drum waiter?
Artisan Customs
I want your job David....lol.
So real
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
That snare head sounds barely finger tight, like it’s holding on for dear life.😂
Is that Todd's practice room or a drum shop? lol
How such an amazing drummer can play fantastic drums with the worst sounding cymbals I'll never understand
его всё устраивает

Stop doing these awkward rundowns where he's looming over their backs...Todd...you're a hero of mine...no one likes a lurker. hahah
please do mike portnoys new dream theater kit !!🎉
Bel set ma accordatura del rullante fortemente discutibile per i miei gusti
He's an incredible drummer but he is severely OVERPLAYING here.........WAY too busy ........compared to the original drumming which was FINE .....STYX doesnt need Vinnie Colaiuta fills
Expected some humour that Todd usually delivers...nothing happened
Nope. Not enough cymbals, imo. More cymbals, please.
Please modern drummer, stop sending this dude to interview the drummers, he is so intrusive
Clearly over played and sounds like trash
😲☝️
