Thank God for Poshmark (even tho Posh has slowed down immensely since lives) and Ebay. Regardless, I REALLY appreciate you Becky, and what you are doing for the reselling community. :-) -- La Rue
It's crickets for me too since the change. I was doing great when I started selling there in December. I was selling stuff that sat on eBay and Posh. Now nothing. I literally have $7 sitting there waiting for another sale so I don't end up with $5. Lol
I have always been pro Mercari. It was the first and only platform I sold on for the first 2-3 months when I started reselling. However, I am halfway through and this is painful to watch. It’s easy to say “sure I’m open to answer any of your questions” when you then proceed to deflect, go on tangents etc. For example, you straight up asked how, as sellers, we can increase sales on Mercari. He had a fantastic opportunity to say “We value daily listing, 80% of our sales are priced under $25, our buyers value free shipping”…anything! Instead he rambled on for 4 minutes about watching Becky’s videos (great advice but a strange reply), pricing, inventory and descriptions without any information on what Mercari values in those items. His tangent about selling his Kindle, while a relatable side story, did not in any way help me have a better understanding of how to increase sales on Mercari.
Omg thank so much for bringing up that lack of communication I had an issue and I felt like deleting the app bcz of it. They didn’t side with me when I had so much proof and the buyer even admitted of her ill intentions to what she did in the thread tysm really hope they do something about it.
Thank you for this, I literally stopped selling on Mercari for years due to the poor customer service. I only started again once they went fee free, also I still will NEVER list anything worth a lot of money on there, due to the lack of service. Ohh and I've also had my account suspended by cs due to my name being inappropriate, (my Mercari account is literally the same as my YT) I honestly believe that happened because I was EXTREAMLY frustrated with the poo customer service. I kept asking to speak with a person and I continually received robo responses.
I can see your point of view. I know some people feel very nervous about leaving their money in Mercari, but that's what I personally do - I just leave it alone until I have a lot of money in there.
@@beckyparkco Yeah, the $2 fee isn't so bad if it's not withdrawn after every sale. If a seller waits until 5 sales, then that's 40-cents per sale. If a seller waits until 10 sales, then that's 20-cents per sale.
Congratulations Becky on a huge interview. Thank you for covering some things that I was thinking too. I can't stand that I can't send the same offer to each person as a new liker shows up. It makes me delay until I have more than one like. Which essentially could cost a sale. Since the changes I haven't sold hardly anything no matter how much I discount. The biggest question I get is can I lower the shipping. I can't because I weigh everything as I list. Also, the unisex request was great! Thanks for all the great info. I am not done watching yet.
Hmmm… I really wanted a good, solid answer about what we could do to increase our sales, because mine are ALWAYS minimal on Mercari. I don’t feel like we got that, which is a bummer. We know how to price and write a description… obviously. What can we do outside the box to increase our sales on this platform?
I haven’t been a fan since I had an issue and the communication was terrible and the eventual resolution only benefited Mercari. I feel like this confirmed those feelings. Did he actually answer a question directly without making the question disappear?
@@Kitty.CastleStore I also noticed he kept recommending that the seller should create trust but did not really address how they will create a trustworthy platform for us to be confident in. It’s not just about the reseller. I have noticed the buyer fees are almost equal to the item being purchased. That’s a turn off to me. If we don’t have buyers there won’t be a need for resellers. There has to be a balance. I would personally rather pay/split fees to have more consistent profits and have everyone win. I’m not trusting that is evident enough to put our valuable time and inventory into a platform that isn’t working for us. And if it’s not working for all of us…we are just working for them. It takes the same amount of time to list an item that profits $5 as it does a $30 item on most every platform so why spend time on a platform that isn’t at minimum working to gain our trust by providing better customer service to the people who are making them money. Great customer service is essential to growth and success. This should have given us more assurance. I’m not sure it hit that target. Thanks to doing this video, Becky. I'd love to know if/when Mercari ever plans on allowing more than 1 lb for USPS ground advantage shipping. I'm quite sure we're losing sales because people don't want to pay Priority shipping.
If Mercari is checking up on these comments at all, I’d like to suggest moving over 1lb priority shipping to ground advantage. The $13+ shipping is definitely a pain point for buyers for heavier items.
I can't tell you how much time I've spent relisting because I'm a new seller so I'm hitting everybody with a like with a offer. Two or three offers in and the listing is spent I do wonder if we're all missing out because as soon as the window for the second offer is over I have to delete it and relist😅
Yeah when I used to sell on mercari, I used to use a program like Flyp to bulk delist/relist around 20 items per day. So I didn't have to just keep offering lower.

One piece of feedback that I didn't see already mentioned would be a request to allow more than 12 photos. People complaining about him not giving direct answers for "how to increase sales" don't seem to understand the reality. Mercari can't force buyers to buy. They can't guarantee increased sales no matter what sellers do. If he said "offer free shipping" or "keep your price under $20" then some sellers would do that and then complain if their sales don't increase. They'll say that they did what Mercari said to do and didn't get more sales, so Mercari owes them or some such nonsense. They'd probably say "there should be a class action lawsuit." The reality is that the only way to increase sales is to offer things that buyers are looking for, with good photos and info, at a price point that appeals to buyers. No platform can guarantee sales. There are both internal and external factors at play in reselling.
