There's always going to be something shinier coming along. Ride what you're got. Still loving my 250 Rally. It does what I got it for and it's all paid for. My other bike is a 1995 BMW 1100. In the time I've had it I've seen the new models go to 1150, 1200, 1250 ... I'm not tempted.
Your going to love the bike all over again when you get the suspension done! It transforms the bike. I had mine re-valved and new springs fitted front and rear too, totally worth the money. It’s better on and off road 👌🏼
Haha yeah the first time was a mixture of fatigue (was near the end of a 400+ km day) and my trousers getting caught on my foot peg. Second was parking where I shouldn’t have and trying to get on like a twat. I’ve dropped it a few times but I don’t try to make a habit of it. Biggest “get-off” was in part 4 of my Molesworth series which bent the aftermarket alloy bars and out a couple of scratches on it.
@@OnThrottle Guess what ? I just bought the 250 rally today , got one with some nice extras and only 900 miles on it for 5K from a private owner , it's the black and silver color scheme but dems the breaks , still sweet .
@@joecamel6835 congrats man! Definitely check out bikerzbits.com (based in Thailand) for parts. If you really want the red plastics you can buy the whole set for about NZ $550 plus shipping.
@@OnThrottle MotoSR have got a custom spring waiting for me ... just waiting for them to have a slot later in the month to get my shock sent to them. Can't wait! I've had my Rally almost two years, just over 7000 km. They said they'd done a 120 kg spring for someone with a Rally. I asked for a little more :-)
Awesome Bruce! I’ve only done the ride back home from Taupo but I am so pleased with mine since Scotty rebuilt it all. The bike feels so much more planted as a result.
@@OnThrottle yup, looking forward to it. It's interesting that I see NZ and Aus owners talking about getting the stock shock re-valved and new spring, but not anywhere else -- in the US and UK etc you on'y hear about putting on YSS or RaceTech or Ohlins shocks for a *lot* more money -- and also they only come in a very small number of variations for rider weight while we get customised to rider weight and riding style. Are we just cheap? Or are we smart?
I've owned my Rally 2.5 years now and I'm still happy with it. I'm not convinced the 300 Rally is worth upgrading to either 👍

What a great trail! What is it called or where abouts in Coro is that?
I love small displacement dual sports, so much fun to be had on a light bike!
Thanks mate. It’s Neavesville Road in Puriri. In theory it can take you up to the Kopu-Hikuai stretch of SH25
Why do you keep dropping it? Have you dropped it a lot in general?

@@OnThrottle Why do you get on with the stand down? I've seen a lot of people do that on videos but it just seems nuts to me.
I got short legs 😂
Is Franky still alive ?
Yes, and he’ll be preparing for a December of hijinks very soon 😎not sure if he’ll be riding with me on the bike again though haha.

@@OnThrottle Riding seasons over here so i'm not gonna put any money into it till spring but I like the site, thanks.
How much for the suspension upgrade ?
About $1300 from memory including GST and removal and fitting.
@@OnThrottle cheers
