I sure appreciate your knowledge and the fact you love to share it with us, thank YOU!! I don’t care how long your videos run, they’re always a pleasure to learn something new! ❤❤❤❤
I talk to my animals too. They are family after all. Thanks for keeping me company while I glaze 45 crosses for my new grandson to be's baby shower favors.
Thank you so much for watching! Yes, our animals are definitely part of our family. We still miss all of them that have passed on. I hope I see them in heaven. That would be perfect. ❤️
Hi Lisa, first time viewer. I liked and sub’d. Pretty piece. I’m eager to see it finished. And i had your video playing at normal speed start to finish; you were good company as I put my studio in order. Too bad about the slow internet! That’s real dedication to upload for hours! Thanks for doing it.
I love joining you in your studio watching you create& chat about life ! The kitties are hysterical😻 A tip to remove the oil-dawn liquid & baking soda, soak in hot water. Amazing,no scrubbing.😊
Very nice platter ❤ The video is long but you have so much to tell, that makes it watch easy and as you go along adding the pieces, time goes quick. Molly & Milly are amusing too 🙀 🙀 I saw the bowl in your market stall. Love it. 👋 bye Lisa 🌸
Looking forward to how you finish this bowl, its absolutely beautiful, I'm new to your videos, just started with clay, loving what you do Jo from England 🏴
Lisa I love watching your videos! They’re so much fun. I always learn something new each time I watch one. You’re such a good teacher and you explain it in a way that we can understand about the clay. You make it fun. I love watching your kitties. 💕please don’t speed up your videos.
@@WildAcornsArtStudio I'm recently retired and love crafting/creating. I have time now for ceramics and glass. I'm toying with investing in a kiln, or just building one. I have plenty of bricks and space and time..... I love your workshop. You've created a nice space for yourself. I've been looking at your videos. One piece of advice, be more positive about your work. (tour of trailer ) You'll sell more. It's hard, I understand. Your a very sweet lady. You've got a lot of good things to share. I/we appreciate your hard work and talent. I'll be watching and learning. Thank you.
@Iam...--- Thank you for your kind words and advice. And thank you for watching! Good luck with building your kiln! That will be so exciting! I've been making pottery for over 30 years, and honestly with arthritis setting in, it's becoming harder and harder to do it full-time. I used to work until 1am before shows, but now I focus mainly on teaching at our local rec center, and that's been so fulfilling. I enjoy the teaching and sharing what I know. So the selling part is beginning to get less important. Hope you have a wonderful day! ❤️ 😀
@@WildAcornsArtStudio Wish I lived up there, I'd come to the rec center personally. I'll have to do with watching. I love your genuine kindness. I'm sorry about the arthritis. It's frustrating getting older, at least you're not letting it get you down. You've found tools, like the press, to help out. 🥰. Thanks for replying. I'm excited to get started. My first slab of clay arrives today.
Great video as usual Lisa, I love your great tips on construction - I learn SO much. I have made many of my own stamps thanks to a tip from you in an earlier video. It's a great way of using up scraps of clay. Today I learned some tips about applique (spelling?) which I am venturing into - putting monstera leaves onto planters. Thanks again for sharing your skills so generously - hugs, J.
Beautiful bowl! I feel your pain!😂 We are a working farm, so everyone lives on the property, and everyone is generally home all the time! That means I have to get real creative about when I film! Hahaha! Sometimes, I just send a whatsapp to just STAY...AWAY!😂😂😂 ps...your vids don't need to be shorter! Anyway, how can they be when you are making such a decorative piece! Happy Creating!
Enjoyed watching you. Thank you. Please show us how you glazed this platter, it is so beautiful I love the blue color in the picture! Would love to know what color did you use.🙏🏼
Hello. Thanks for watching. Don't mix any water with the cornstarch. Just brush it on the greenware to stop it from sticking to the mold, or to help a texture mat release easier. 😀 (It works like flour to a bread pan.) 😀
@@WildAcornsArtStudiothank you! And also, would you tell me what kind of pedestal do you use to hold your phone while recording? I love your long videos, by the way, don’t change anything!
Lovely bowl, I have seen videos where they use knee highs over their form to stop from sticking I bought some and put them away cant find them now to try lol.
I really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing! I love the shape of the bowl you used as a mold, is it a ceramic or plastic dish? I'm going to look for something like that so I can try this type of bowl making myself. I have trouble keeping my cats off my slab and from stealing my sponges too! 😂
Hi Lisa, thank you for another beautiful tutorial. I am guessing your clay was between leather hard and 'just rolled' stage when you press it down on the oval bowl. thanks always for replying to every query and message.
Hi Lisa love this video just wondering how often should you replace the thermocouple? I had a new skutt kiln last June so it’s coming up to a year now thanks x
Thanks! It all depends on how often you fire the kiln. When they get rusty and crusty looking, chances are it's time to replace it. It's very easy to do. I keep a notebook/journal next to my kiln with what program I put in for that firing. (Cone/preheat/speed etc) When the firing is done, I write down how long it took to complete. Then you can check your records to see how long each firing took, and when the firings start taking longer and longer, you know either the elements or the thermocouple are going bad.
Love the kitty in a box keeping you company
Thank you! ❤️ I do, too. We adore them. They're my stress relief. 😀
Love your videos! Cats, pottery and family life 🙂
This is the first of your videos I've watched. Subscribed immediately (not even 5 minutes in). You are so fun!

Good luck with it! 😀
I have never seen such a wide rolling pin LOL
It weighs a gazillion pounds! 😀
Interesting 👍

Thank you! ❤️. The glaze is called Textured Turquoise by Amaco. It's a beautiful glaze. My student's love this glaze. 😀

Hi, love your videos. You keep me company while I paint my bisques. Question for you, what is the starch for and how much water you mix it with?
Hello. Thanks for watching. Don't mix any water with the cornstarch. Just brush it on the greenware to stop it from sticking to the mold, or to help a texture mat release easier. 😀 (It works like flour to a bread pan.) 😀

Lovely bowl, I have seen videos where they use knee highs over their form to stop from sticking I bought some and put them away cant find them now to try lol.
Lol. I have used knee-highs over GR Pottery forms, but for bowls or anything large, I prefer the cornstarch. A little messier, but works great. 😀

Haha, thanks! Those bad kitty cats! 😺 😀 The bowl was ceramic. (Kind of like a Pyrex dish weight.)
😊

Hello. Thanks for watching! The clay was pretty soft. I had just gotten it out of a new bag of clay.
@@WildAcornsArtStudio oh, thanks. will definitely try this one
What clay are you using? I’m hoping to get back to making some things with clay and you were inspiration for me! 😊
BTW, there's a " Great Canadian Pottery throwdown" don't know if you can get that. It's on the Canadian channel CBC.
Oh wow, didn't know that. I'll see if I can find it. Thanks!
Also on you tube

@@WildAcornsArtStudio aww thank you so much Lisa this is really helpful. looking forward to you next video :)😀
What glaze would you recommend for a nice pink color?
Check out Mayco's, Pink Opal. It's a beautiful pink. And Mayco has very stable glazes.
Do your sprigs ever pop off in the firing?
No, not usually. They can if you don't score well enough, or if you dry the bowl too quickly. I wrap mine in plastic for a couple of days.
Thank you.@@WildAcornsArtStudio
