See if you notice anything strange or wrong when you remove the cover and inspect the internal mechanism. When you see that something - do your own research in order to see what to do to fix it. Good luck! :)

    Thank you for recording and posting this my man. Got my lock fixed up in no time, and works like new! I bought mine about four years ago, and paid close to $100. Glad I didn't have to buy a new one. "If one man can do it, so can another." Thanks again.

    Thanks for this video. I have had the same problem. Another thing to try, as it worked for me this time, is to use the key and try locking and unlocking a few times. Thankfully, that worked for me this time. Not sure if that action of using the actually key and engaging the internal mechanism may have set everything back in place or not, but I certainly suggest giving it a try. Cheers!!!

      Same here. Thought it couldn't be the battery because the keypad worked (lit up and made noise), but the battery didn't have enough juice to engage the spring/screw/gear mechanism that causes the handle to "catch". After taking it apart twice I replaced the battery just to see. That was it.

    Max - Thanks brother! +ONE - on not having the same mechanical issue as you (where the pin had fallen out on your model). Took apart my BE369. When disassembling mine, the key cylinder seemed to just fall out of the external thumb knob. Everything else seemed in order. Reassembled & installed. Now works like it should. Didn't see any damage that might have caused the key cylinder to not engage properly. But the batteries were low, so maybe that played a part? If it happens again soon, may just replace ... but so far so good. Thanks!

      Their engineers have clearly changed their design over the years, and not for the better. I have owned three of these locks for about 17 years in my home and four more Schlage deadbolts for my new workshop. Two of the four new deadbolts (manufactured 11/26/2020) have failed already - just outside the 12-month warranty. The original three have never needed anything besides batteries. If I ever sell my house, I'll swap them and keep the reliable ones for myself.

    Thank You! I have it pulled apart - and don't have the proper "star type" screwdriver!!! Does it need a special tool to get the inside cover off!!!???

    • @tetmax
      @tetmax  3 роки тому

      Hello, D Hansen! Thanks for visiting!
      I shot the video long time ago so I do not remember the exact bit type I used. But it was not the 'star type' you mention! I tried different ones before found one that worked. The screwdriver bit set I used - I got from Walmart for about $6 it is called - 'Hyper Tough TS99818A 44-Piece Precision Screwdriver Set with Case'. I think they still have that set sold there.
      Just be careful when finding the one that works - do not break the screws heads or you will not be able to get the cover off. Find the bit that fits into the 'star type' hole the best and firmly try to unscrew. Hope my answer was helpful. ))

    • @dhansen9300
      @dhansen9300 3 роки тому +1

      Wow! Thanks for the quick reply! It will require a hexagon type bit once you get inside to the final step - I found one in my tool kit! When I opened it the screw was not loose like yours. So I put it all back together thinking great-I’ll have to call a locksmith! But I don’t know what I did - but it worked after I finished!!!!!! Thank you for your tutorial - I would have never attempted otherwise!!

      Hey Saul! Sorry to hear about your problem. I did not quite understand what exactly is not working. In order to use the lock you need to program the security code (your secret password code) in my case I was able to have 2 different 4 digit codes. Those 4 digit codes allow you to lock or unlock the device. You have to key in the code to open or lock the door.

      Your problem on your lock is the rotating spring that causes the plastic piece to move up and down....I pulled the spring out on mine and reinserted the plastic piece (when you hit engage the top of the plastic should not have a gap at the top) mine worked for about 6 months longer doing this but ultimately it will fail again and have to be replaced..... not a very good unit lifespan if you ask me...

      Mine works OK since I fixed it. There were several times when it felt like there was no enough of a 'grip' when I rotated the knob and I was thinking of opening it up and looking inside. However, I think it never gave me a 'good reason' to do it yet. I think, if I would not be able to fix it for good I would simply purchase a new one. Hey Darma, sorry to hear you have troubles with the lock. For how long did it work OK before the problem appeared?

    You could do without the early 90's western themed, porno soundtrack, but good info.

      I am not that familiar with porno soundtracks, Gabriel! I am glad that you liked it!

      Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! Sorry to hear you needed video where people talk. I get plenty of comments when people complain when there is a talk, some people complain that there is 'stupid music' on the background, and there are some people that do not like when there is no music at all, sometimes music is too loud and sometimes the music is not loud enough... you can never satisfy everyone... :O)
      Fortunately there are plenty of content on youtube and everyone can find what pleases them and be happy! Take it easy! )))
