I’m just wondering why this isn’t in the installation manual?
Don't really need to disconnect the wires, the plate can be moved far enough from the door to turn the tab without doing so. Agree with the comment below, how did this ever get designed so poorly. Worse yet, why has it not been fixed after 5 years.
Great instructions. I had this problem, and after watching this video, I was able to fix it.
Now to Schlage, I have 2 things to say: #1: great video, thanks for that. #2: How on earth you designed this so poorly that my original technician installed it completely wrong. Why is it even possible to install this lock wrong way? Shame on you! For a long time, my lock was not working, and I never noticed. FAIL FAIL FAIL! Terrible design.
Ferdous Rubaiyat, I absolutely agree with you. Sadly there must be many more people who don't even know their lock isn't even working properly and can be unlocked right from outside.
I already made a second installation attempt, and my lock still opens by just hitting the schlage button.
After watching this video, it says to first extend the bolt before removing, upon doing this, the cam is rotated so that it covers up the right side screw, and I am unable to remove it.
Cam M , I'm having the same issue as you and have the lock open in front of me. This video doesn't help us because the cam is horizontal when we open it covering one of the long screws.
Were you able to figure it out at the end?
With the inside cover off, also remove the orange plastic cover as well.
With this off you can see some "contacts" just under the deadbolt cam.
I noticed that they never seperated regardless of what position the deadbolt was in.
I removed the two screws that were holding that piece in place & flipped it over, and then re-installed.
This allowed the contacts to work properly, and fixed my problem.
Hopefully my instructions made sense, my problem turned out to be a QC problem.
My lock works perfectly now.
I hope yours does as well.

Cam M , You do explain well so we might have similar problems, but different after all.
In my case the Metal Contact you are referring to is only making contact when the Cam is positioned down. I had manually moved the Cam to a different position and reinstalled. So now my Schlage button doesn't unlock the door from the outside, but when I tried to lock using the Schlage button it didn't work, and programming it to lock from outside had no affects either.
I think the way I have done is still backwards, because now when I Unlock, my Cam faces the Bolt or the open side of the door, whereas in this video it shows Cam unlocking and facing the door hinges.

Cam M, really disappointed in Schlage and my builder because my door stayed unlocked for almost a year and I didn't even know until I got to programming it.
if Schlage had to create this video then it clearly means that they failed to design it well enough.
@@camm8674 I took it apart, including the orange plate, and put it back together 3 times, and it still doesn't work correctly. Should I call the installer? So frustrating!

OMG! I wish I'd read these reviews before we bought his piece of sit product. We went through 2 of them, watched this video, troubleshoot on the Schlage page and still the dead bolt would only turn 360 degrees and NOT lock at all. My husband rotated the spindle piece both ways and still not extracting the lock! We can hear it retract but the dead bolt does not come in/out! $155.00 for a piece of shit!

i fucked with this piece of shit way too long. my problem was: pushing the schlage button would immediately unlock it. the only thing that fixed it for me was drilling out the deadbolt hole so that the deadbolt could extend 100% in the locked position. if the deadbolt wasn't extended its maximum then it wouldn't engage properly.
