Throw some stem plants, rocks, caves, any kind of hiding place into the guppy pond. Guppies have to have hiding places in order to feel secure, also for the fry to survive since the adults will eat them. With live-bearers it's a good idea to keep 3 females per male fish as well.
I actually love how honest you are with your channel and how you run your business. Not many people admit they make mistakes or show the troubles they come across and it makes a big difference. It honestly helps your audience connect with you so much more as they can relate with what’s going on. Your content honestly helps me get through the week so thank you!
Try adding some rock work to help the guppies settle in better. The rocks will also help hide any babies a lot better. Also stem plants are always a hit w guppies ☺️
Hey Luke! Love the vid! Here’s a tip for the guppies, they rarely produce babies if they don’t feel safe, so add some hiding spots! The short roots of the salvinia isn’t enough in such a deep pond so you should get some fast growing stringy plants like guppy grass or hornwort. Good luck!
🤔 You will have more success with the guppies if you add some guppy grass to the tubs. It will clean the water, give a hiding place for the fish and provide a food source. If you add a handful of leafy litter to the tub it will become a food source for the guppies.
was hoping for a follow up video on what happened to the first fancy goldfish in the house, really curious what happened tot hem after what you said last video :(
Better put something for that guppies to hide, it will increase the motel's stars- i mean, make them more comfortable to feel safe and start breeding And for the babies hide from their cannibal parents
This is a suggestion but the low, low quality goldfish that you would cull, maybe you could sell them as bait fish because lots of people in small towns can’t find bait fish and lots of fish would probably eat goldfish, but this is a suggestion but keep up the awesome content and the good work
the tank is far too bare for the guppies. They feel unsafe having no where to hide. I’d downgrade them to a much smaller tank, a 50 gal max. add in more stem plants or fake plants. anything for cover
They can hide behind the filters. Although fake plants wouldn’t be as good of an idea as you’d think. He’s tried that before and has a fish almost choke to death on them I believe. He has also had issues with real plants but I think real plants are the best idea.
@indoboy_official8705 For the goldfish you are right, but I believe yeetles is talking about the tank for the guppies. I which case the plants combined with a smaller tank will greatly help reduce stress.
@@IndovilliaSpace Guppies aren’t going to choke on fake plants, guppies are tiny compared to the big goldfish and wouldn’t be able to eat a fake plant. I do prefer real plants but he needs literally anything at this point lol
Add some plants/hiding place for The guppies. U Will have a much bigger succes rate. Less babies eaten. Less stressed fish! They dont eat any aquatic plants btw!
Would recommend to add some hiding spaces in the tank, guppy grass or moss or algae or wood.... It will boost their confidence and they'll start feeling like home
Have you seen the other baby snapping turtles that you released back to the pond? Thanks for the video. :) Thanks for showing your trees around your property.
It’s true that guppies like plants and hardscape and shady places and the strength of numbers. That being said, the guppies I raised myself are never afraid of me and will swim into my hand. But any new guppies that grew up somewhere else, tend to be super skittish at first. Also, the bigger the tank the less interaction you will have with the guppies, so their behavior might stay skittish.
You should use the guppy pond to grow duckweed instead of salvinia. Duckweed will pull nutrients and clean the guppy tank, the scoop the duckweed and feed it to those chunky nuggets
Heres an idea ahem… Step1: remove guppies and all floating plants from snapping turtle tank into another tank Step2: get new floating plants Step3: get a big net and o to the creek Step4: catch yourself some tadpoles Step5: get frustrated and give up Step6: go to a reptile shop and buy tadpoles Step 7: ad tadpoles to snapping turtle tank
He already explain this in a video. The most of the benefictial bacteria is stuck in the filter, walls, and floors. Theres not many benefictial in the water.
Just a question... why don't keep the long goldies...? They are bad... or just not the shape you want? Like would be right to breed long goldies for that purpose? To make them lke that? 😊
honestly, as harsh as this sounds (and i know this method will sound harsh), the sink garbage disposal is a much less stressful way to cull. doing the clove oil is a drawn out process (and the freezer method is even worse) whereas pouring them into the garbage disposal is over in milliseconds for them, they don’t even have time to think about starting to get stressed. BUT this only works for small aquarium fish or very young culls, NOT for large fish
I have kept guppies before however I understand that these are completely different, probably one unless they are social and need more than one in which I will grab 2. @@madtabby66As for breed, I am not completely certain.
I would say go for the biggest your space and budget can afford even for one. A good starting point imo is 55 or 60g breeder tank, they like to swim long ways less up and down. That's why I say a breeder tank. And double the filtration. I would get a tital 110 for a 60-ish tank, with sponge filters. If ya didn't get a hob try 8 spong filters.
Hi luke I have baby platy fish I need to get another female platy due too them males breed a lot I was thinking off getting another pearl scale goldfish but never seem too have a lot of luck with that breed good luck with selling your fish I enjoy watching
I don’t know how many people are going to have to tell him he needs a different environment for those guppies (places to hide/smaller tank, as well as fixing the male to female ratio AND not mixing breeds in the same tank) before he actually listens. Or they just die from stress, or whatever. It’s really frustrating for someone who is all about fish to ignore basic needs for a species that isn’t his focus. Ugh.
Hi just come across your channel I'm enjoying it I'm looking for a book on fancy goldfish that covers everything from sexing health problems breeding and different types of fish thanks
Also, unlike goldfish, guppies need a place to hide.
Sadness comes for them
Yup, that could explain why they are so scared. A huge open space with no hiding places is terrifying for small fish, especially guppies.
