If the 7d is a crop sensor how did you get the same framing with the same lens?! and if you moved the camera back farther there would be different looking dimensions in the Z axis ? So did you change to the 30mm equivalent on the 7d and lied about the lenses and different aperture settings or someting? Other than that confusion, great video but I still love my 7d!
I was having the same trouble with my 7D until I removed the clock battery for about a minute. This does a hard reset that really makes a difference. Your 7D needs to have this done. Do it and check the 7D again. You might be surprised... Thanks for the good video review!
The music was really annoying to the point that I almost found this video unwatchable. Also, the conclusion was too short for a 2k camera, no recommendations whatsoever. sorry guys you need to up your game a little, you're obviously very good photographers and videographers no doubt. it's just my two cents.
They don't know how to make serious video-review..awful sound, content full of "holes"- from the base (fullframe against a half of it) through the lack of relevant references, to the confusing details...And again- annoying loud music as background is a sure sign of ignorance, that's definitely the rule in all reviews I saw by now. ESP for us who don't have English as a native language.- definitely unwatchable.
Great job, been searching online for video comparisons between these two (7d is half the price in some places !) and all everyone talks about is the lack of a headphone socket... The 6d looks like a bit of a winner for the low light and IQ in video. Really good comparison :) Thank you
I was going to buy 6d but ended up buying 50mm 1.2 :) . I am waiting for 7d mark ii because price difference between 6d and 7d does not justifies its performance over 7d . BTW awesome video perfectly filmed straight to the point , looking forward for some great reviews and comparisons .
I think the fact that the 6D sensor is full frame is one of the most important aspects that you failed to mention in this test! The size of the sensor will help with low light detail performance and affect depth of field at any given aperture setting?
i liked the review and if you want the control lock function is available as a 110.00 option for the 7D and 5DMKII and isn't soft images a normal problem with the 7D it was an issue that mine had and i looked it up and a lot of users found that but it can be sharpened in post i think ill wait til the 7DmkII to come out before upgrading but i liked the comparison
i have both, and there are MANY more differences. the quality on the 6d is killer for what i do - live music in dark venues (the fast crazy stuff). 6d is optimal. But it has half the frame rate on rapid fire. No pop-up flash, because it DOESN'T NEED ONE. My only complaint would be the slower continuous shooting, and the inability to use remote flash - although i may be wrong about that. OH, and it has wi-fi. You can use a smart phone to remotely operate it!!!!
Buy more lenses for the 7D before you get a different DSLR. I use a 7D myself, and even though its almost a 6 year old camera, it's still a very good camera from Canon. You'll always want to invest in glass instead of the camera. Again, I've had the 7D when it first came out, still going strong, but I've saved almost extensively on glass for it. Used to have Canon Non-L, but now, I have a huge variety of L glass. Since I have so much invested in Canon Glass now, now i can upgrade if i want
The 6d for its price and features is fantastic. And it seems unfair to compare crop and full frames? Is there any crop sensor that better a full frame? I don't know.
You do not compared how the autofocus 19 crosstype vs 1 and 8 frame per second vs 4.4 fps. 7D will get much more moments and pictures than 6D unless taking picture 1 per minutes and pixelpeeping all the time. Overall 7D is more rounded camera than 6D for most usages especially sports, moving kids, and wildlife.
awesome review but i was wondering what camera do you use to record this cause im looking to get a good HD camcorder but not sure what to get can you give me any recommendations???
A crop sensor camera can get a tighter frame on subjects in wildlife and sports photography. You can get by with a shorter lens with a crop sensor and the 7d shoots 8fps. Just saying.
Man!! Photo cams !! And u compared them for video! What comes next ? Arri vs Red who takes best photo ? - Not being angry or hater, just sarcastic! And dissapointed haha I was looking for a comparison as a photo cams ;) Well thnks though.
actually i have a panasonic hdc700 very sharp and stunning quality but havent interchangeable lenses and dog. this is becoming a problem for me. i must buy a dslr but i'm very undecided. I wanted to take the 6d but i noticed that have a bad problem with moire. could you advise me?
Pan x you were concerned with the sensor size and not the fine details. For example, grouped af points aren’t in the 6D; speaking of af points, the 7D has 19 while the 6D has 11.
Your testing is flawed. Starting at 2:30 you can tell based on the perspective change in the background objects that you moved the 7D back to get the same framing as the larger sensor 6D. Even if you took two images with the 6D at distance X and X * 1.6, the closer image will show more detail. Test the two with the same camera position and crop out the outer reqions of the 6D or use an equivalent focal length ie 50 on crop and 80 on FF, but keep the camera position the same.
I own both. I’m always outdoor and in UK the weather is bad so 7D with my weather sealed L lens makes it a great companion for outdoor in all weathers from rain to snow.
+Elliot Ruddy i agree with you. im laughing at the fact that the video saya sharpening in post is a "no-no". i shoot with the most flat picture profile cinestyle has to offer, which is great for post work.

Thanks for the good video review!
You must really fucking hate Canon 7D's!
full frame will always beat crop sensor in image quality, full frame in a plastic body or crop in magnesium weather proof body its a hard call to make.

Also, the conclusion was too short for a 2k camera, no recommendations whatsoever. sorry guys you need to up your game a little, you're obviously very good photographers and videographers no doubt. it's just my two cents.
They also didn't mention the fact that the 6D is the only one of the two with a full frame sensor.
6d is for indoor, portrait work and 7d is for wildlife. that's the way I look at it. Toying with the two myself, however both suit my needs.
i hear you there. I just keep reading the 7D mkII rumor sites and hoping for a miracle to drop unexpectedly
Nice review compare, like the straightforward narration.
Keep up the great work.
Didn't mention the control dials on the 6d. I heard they're not as nice a on 7d or 5d. (no more control nipple)
i liked the review and if you want the control lock function is available as a 110.00 option for the 7D and 5DMKII and isn't soft images a normal problem with the 7D it was an issue that mine had and i looked it up and a lot of users found that but it can be sharpened in post i think ill wait til the 7DmkII to come out before upgrading but i liked the comparison
What resolution and fps were you using for these side by side comparisons? 1080p 24fps? 30fps?
i have both, and there are MANY more differences. the quality on the 6d is killer for what i do - live music in dark venues (the fast crazy stuff). 6d is optimal. I have a Canon 7D. This finally made me decide to get the 6D. Thanks. :P
how did that work out for you? i'm kinda in the same situation now.. if i should invest on 6d + L-lens. or a 5d m3 body.
+enterBeastmode1 I actually decided to go with the 5D Mark III in the end. I bought May 2015. No regrets! 😊
Buy more lenses for the 7D before you get a different DSLR.

Yes, which is definitely a downfall for photography. We didn't cover that for we fiver on video use
Way to go.. good job. Waiting fr 6D vs 5D MKIII / D600.
The 6d for its price and features is fantastic. And it seems unfair to compare crop and full frames? Is there any crop sensor that better a full frame? I don't know.
The 6D is a full frame camera and you have to look at the price of each not the best comparison but ok. They are both superior quality cameras.
Also you can get the 6d on pre holiday sale now with the 24-105 lens kit on www.photolg.com/CanonEOS6D

it is not fair to compare a crop and a full frame camera. Also the 7D is much older than the 6D. There might be a 7Dmark II in this year.
And very surprising. A huge difference from the Mark 3 with a 61 AF. It was a turn off for me.
Thanks for the comparison, what would you do for you next upgrade if you have a 7D?
1- buy more lenses for the 7D
2- buy a 6D
Thanks in advance
Full frame censor is much better choice than crop censor any given day...
A crop sensor camera can get a tighter frame on subjects in wildlife and sports photography. You can get by with a shorter lens with a crop sensor and the 7d shoots 8fps. Just saying.

Great quick review! keep them coming
Thank u I love video more than stills carry on with your awesome filmmaking
Nice comparison!
Nice vidio

Best Comparison video... Subbed...
I think I'll just stick with my 7D till the 7D mark ii comes out.
Im soon gonna by 7D because of my budjet but when the 7D Mark II comes out I won't even care about how much money I lose :)
why did you compare full frame with aps-c? apples and walnuts. really - the sensor size differences makes aperture non comparable.
70D is great but crop sensor on it is not good as 6D with full frame
what you use to shot the video intro (0.05 to 0.30)??
comparing 6d to 7d...a full frame camera ? are u joking?
Pan x you were concerned with the sensor size and not the fine details. For example, grouped af points aren’t in the 6D; speaking of af points, the 7D has 19 while the 6D has 11.
Is it just me or does the 6d have more of cold colour!? It's only my opinion and i dont own either cameras, but i prefer the 7d image.
All-i is the best use always (unless you shooting long low res events)
Very good point
what was it shot on all-i or ipb compression?? any idea which compression is better in terms of noise and overall handling on 6d?
I have a canon rebel xs eos... I want something cheap, great for videos (HD) , that takes SD card and is a canon... any tips?
like me a 7d owner who is thinking of buying a 6d.
What I want to know is the 6D worth the $800 dollar difference?
It has a 11 point auto focus i believe. Not much to it..
i love the BGM, whats the name of it please????
6d sync speed is 180 and 7d is 200. thats an issue to worry about
6d very nice
hi, i m missing one point : how do you the sharpening on the 6D ?
When shooting at 25 fps, so use shutter at 1/50, when shooting at 50 fps then use 1/100...there is only 2 choice...you never use the good !...
what lens were you using on both? and out of 60D or 7D which one is better??
Canon 6D
What about the auto focus system?
great review and comparison guys! Sub'd.
You cant compare full frame with crop sensors, i will never look back to crop sensor cameras
Wouldn't this be better to compare to 60d vs 7d. This isn't on the same level.
Your testing is flawed. Starting at 2:30 you can tell based on the perspective change in the background objects that you moved the 7D back to get the same framing as the larger sensor 6D. 70d is my recomendation
the location background audio noise is so distracting and annoying I couldn't watch it for long.
w glassiter fucking true uncle
You expect us to see that with , you're 720p video lol
WTF ?!?!?? Full-frame versus crop-sensor? Like comparing dogs with cats.
Maybe 7D vs 70D and 6D vs 5D.
We only do video
oh my god .... its awesome :)
Wait for the 7D mark II :)
i Jeep still not better
you think 70D is better than 6D?
Are you a geginner or professional
name of the song for the video please
What's the best video camera?
go with the 60D
Whats the comparison between d750 vs 6d in image and video quality?
It's night and day.
WTFflow please explain
i just got the 70D and it's awesome, i post a video with it, check it out the results are impressive (was my first time doing a video with a Dslr)
7D is better, it is above.
For Video? Canon 550D/t2i
7D or 6D?
I own both. I’m always outdoor and in UK the weather is bad so 7D with my weather sealed L lens makes it a great companion for outdoor in all weathers from rain to snow.
buy the 550D or the 600D!
I've never been impressed with the sharpness of photos in the 7d. You can sharpen them up a bit but in general the 7d suffers from sharpness issues.
Nipatie moja 7d
Single Digic5+ processor*
i have canon 60d is good
Sharpening dslr in post is a no-no... LOL wut??
+thomaskazuya not if you record in flat which you need to be for optimised post manipulation
+Elliot Ruddy i agree with you. im laughing at the fact that the video saya sharpening in post is a "no-no". i shoot with the most flat picture profile cinestyle has to offer, which is great for post work.
It's pronounced "mwar"
i want to see a review on photography not taking video..duh
great review and comparison guys! Sub'd.
