- [Double Release Of This Song Today: This Is The Acoustic Version.] I’m releasing this song today in this acoustic version here, and in an electric version which is found on my Randy "Jimmie James" Bowles channel, where I use my electric guitar to go for that Pop Staples gospel sound. I’ll provide a link to the electric version in a pinned comment. In 1996, here in Seattle, I was in need of a little counseling. I was going through some stress. Quite miraculously I was paired with a very kind, smart, soft-spoken man. -- A man who had very limited eyesight. -- Which is now the case for me. He gave me this advice: things will never be perfect. Be thankful for God’s little graces. And… nearly thirty years later, here is the song he gave me. For me, meeting him was one of God’s little graces. I hope you are blessed with many. - Lyrics in the pinned comment along with a link to the other version.
Here are, first, the lyrics, and then at the bottom, a link to the electric version of this song.
God’s Little Graces - By Randy Bowles
God’s little graces
Those heavenly gifts,
Bring us joy,
When our hearts need a lift.
God’s tender mercies,
Forgiveness and grace,
Make this old world
A brighter place.
God’s little graces
Sweet little gifts,
Bring us comfort,
When our souls need a lift.
Here are a few,
I wrote down in a song.
I’m sure you’ve got a list,
That’s twice as long.
A child says hello,
As you walk down the street.
How could anything, anything
Be that sweet?
Little ones need,
Our love and care.
But they return it,
In a double-share.
A kitten crawls up upon your lap.
Circles twice and takes a nap.
Purring softly, snoozing away,
That little kitty just
Made your day. And…
God’s little graces
Unexpected gifts,
Bring us joy when
Our hearts need a lift.
God’s tender mercies,
Forgiveness and grace,
Pay it forward to the whole human race.
Your grandma takes you
By your hand.
Says you’d make grandpa
A happy man.
Right when you needed
A kind word or two,
Grandma knew it,
And she came through for you.
You slip and fall
At the grocery store.
You got a cut and your arm feels sore.
A crowd of strangers,
Comes to rescue you.
Loving-kindness right out of the blue.
At the drive-through,
Picking up your meal,
Not feeling great,
Life gets so darn real.
The woman at the window says
No worries dude,
The car in front of you
Paid for your food.
Singin’ about…
