How was your recovery? I had surgery last April of complete rotary cuff repair & two torn tendons. Now I have torn it again so my surgery & healing process was a waste of time & now they are telling me I need a shoulder replacement surgery. I don't know what to do. 😢
My dad needs this surgery after sustaining a fall and healing from a broken shoulder. However, the rotator cuff is not healing correctly, so this surgery is needed. Thank you so much for this helpful and simple video. Fingers crossed that his surgery will go well!
I had the reverse shoulder operation in June and am doing quite well. Your Dad will be fine. It’s important to do physiotherapy to get your range of motion! All the best!❤

Hello Laura! I am slated for this surgery this coming May 2nd for my right shoulder. I had rotator cuff surgery on the same shoulder back in 2013. I have great range of motion, I do have some slight tearing, but the arthritis is effecting my quality of life. I love being active, weight lifting, exercising, kayaking, etc. Can you please tell me how the recovery went, how was the pain level the next day after surgery and going forward please. My Doctor and everyone else in the office says the recovery is not that bad. How are you now? How is your range of motion? Thank you in advance!
@tony2tiger1 Good morning. I'm very blessed because the operation brought me back to totally normal. I follow my doctor's orders regarding physical therapy & was extremely cautious to do only as advised. I have an extremely high pain threshold, so I was truly only a bit uncomfortable. The only thing I couldn't do was lay flat. I purchased a wedge & still use it when I'm uncomfortable. My only advice would be to BECAREFUL! Go easy on the physical activity. God forbid you fall & the shoulder is injured. The ability to repair is almost nil. I pray God will send an angel to watch over you & guide the hands of your surgeon

This is good to know as I had this surgery done on the 24th Nov after a fall on the 18th. On the left shoulder. I play guitar and sing as a way of life and a living. Hello, I am having this done on May 2nd. Can you please give me any advice for recovery? How long did you wear the sling. My Doctor is saying I won't have to wear it long.
I had a shoulder operation about 20 years ago which worked very well. It is now very painful and difficult to use, a scan shows that all the tendons are snapped and there is a rotator cup tear. I have tried for about six years to have it repaired. I also have had two left shoulder operations. The first was done by a trainee surgeon and monitored by an orthopaedic surgeon. I was told the joint just needed cleaning out. The trainee surgeon did a lot of damage. I was left with a shoulder that was very painful and difficult to move. I later found out my shoulder had been damaged and now had a 30mm rotator cuff tear and snapped tendons as well as a snapped bicep tendon. The surgeon who had been training the trainee surgeon refused to examine me after the operation and informed me there was nothing more they could do. I was forced to see a second surgeon. He tried to repair the tendons and rotator cup tear but was unable to repair them which left me with a shoulder I cannot use. It has taken me many years to find a surgeon who will help me. I have been told I need both shoulders replaced. My question is. Can torn tendons be repaired when I have these operations?
I've always wanted/asked for a cadaver heel tendon to be sewn onto my shoulders. The Dr only put on a f'n skin graft over my rotator cuff injury. It didn't work/help. Oh well, just deal with the misery. I've been through 5 opps.
@@briankoski2532 I have now had my left shoulder replaced but despite lots of physio, my shoulder is still frozen and difficult to move. I exercise every day but it is as bad now as it was before the operation. My tendons were all snapped and the rotator cuff was unrepairable before my operation.

I fell and fractured the ball of the humerus necessitating this surgery. So little information is given on how the remapped muscles work after this surgery. I had this surgery and my muscles are having such a hard time doing the work. I’m doing the exercises and PT, but this is a huge adjustment.
I had a total shoulder replacement 6 months month ago. It has made a big difference, im not in pain now but haven't got all my movement back because they couldn't repair the rotary cuff. I have been doing exercises in the gym & now i can start using weights, but only 5kg because if the new joint moves or gets damaged its dard to repair. I've been told it could be 18 months before its fully healed.

In December 2023 I fell and Fractured (well shattered really) my left Proximal Humerus. In 2019 I had surgery on that same shoulder to repair a large rotator cuff tear. I have played the violin since I was 10, I'm now 62. Since the fracture 7 months ago I have not been able to play. I just had a CT scan of that shoulder and I may have to have the Shoulder Replacement Surgery. My PT seems to think I need it. After my surgeon reviews the CT scan I'll know more. My question is, will I be able to get the rotation that I need in order to play the violin again after having this surgery? I'm still a very active violinist (well, I was before the fracture) .
I was in a similar bind regarding musical instruments anf my left humerus being broken in a fall on very hard ground. A reverse shoulder replacement has been done in order to give me the best chance to recover sufficient flexibility and strength to play guitar again. I am right handed but the guitar demands almost equal dexterity in the left hand and arm when forming chords and scales to be picked out by the dominant right hand. Because I made clear my desire to continue playing guitar to my consultant the decision was made immediately replace the broken joint.

The tricky aspect is to avoid tensing of the neck anf fore-arm muscles as the body subconsciously tenses neighbouring muscle groups to minimise expected pain.
