Acetone is, hands down, the go-to solvent for products like markers. However, be advised that it is extremely volatile in that it evaporates very quickly and is quite flammable as a result. If you're using acetone, always put the lid back on the can immediately after withdrawing some from the can. Also do not allow paper towels or soak rags to be thrown into the trash and then the lid covered. That is a great cause of spontaneous combustion. Better is to drape the rag outdoors over a banister or something horizontal such that the acetone will evaporate and dissipate very quickly, thus minimizing the chance of a fire.
I was about to write this! Also you can simply use the white board marker . Draw over the permanent marker , wipe off, repeat. Not as good but it can help
I have had 7 other surgeries and nothing compares to this rotator cuff repair. Take those meds, it’s important. Thanks for sharing about the comparing. My Physical Therapist told me I was so behind, it almost destroyed me as I felt I had been working so hard. I asked the surgeon (whose good hearted). He said, well since she wasn’t here looking at the damage she can’t tell you where you should be. Assured me I was at a good spot and to keep going he’ll tell me if he’s concerned!
I’ve had knee & Shoulder reco surgeries and the pain is intense. STRONG pain killers taken properly is crucial. I just shoulder Acromioclavicalar joint reconstruction/stabilisation and the Doc only gave me 5mg Endone (on previous Ops he gave me 20mg). My post Op hurts like hell. Going to have to start double/tripple dumping this stuff.
The issue of communication between your PT and your surgeon is a problem but I understand both of them are in a business. If your PT is not doing soft tissue work and mobilizations around the shoulder blade then they aren’t helping you progress faster… that will dictate the stress of the Glenohumeral joint and RC.
I had a labrum surgery two months ago and one thing i stuffer from is comparing myself to others , i don’t have my full rage of motion like others do . watching this video helped me that everyone recovery progress is different
@@rotatorcuffexpert Additionally, no two surgeries are ever going to be identical. There will always be differences of some kind - location, additional unseen issues until the surgeon is in there, more/less damage than anticipated, other health issues that can impact everything, etc.
I am almost one year out from my surgery. I don't remember the names of everything but I had two complete tendon tears, the bicep tenodesis and they shaved down the acromion . I am a 64 yo male. My journey with shoulder issues started with a MVA in February of 2017 and after a series of unfortunate events found myself in terrible condition and pain. Everything you have described in this video has been my exact experience. I am so glad I found your videos a year ago, they were a tremendous help to get me back to what I would guess is about 95% today. Thank you so much!
Just had right full thickness tears in all cuffs repaired. Bicep surgery plus sub scapula something. Be a week today and I’m in a brace waiting to start therapy.
I had mine repaired with the tendon repairs too, 5 weeks ago. I took the meds religiously for three days and used an ice machine for about 7, and I can honestly say I never had one moment of pain. I bought the ice machine prior to surgery and they had it on and running before I even left the OR. I highly recommend this.
I'm a PTA in an OP clinic. I am constantly studying and learning. We recently had a pt retear her RC. I've been doing some research on the potential reasons why this happened and found your channel. Great content! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I had rotator cuff surgery repair Feb 13 2024. My dominant arm. It's very emotional feeling to me. Like so many other people single and leave alone and it's hard to get help when you need it and you got to be very careful and cooking's a bummer too cuz you can't cook.

I have to get rotor cuff surgery May 31. When I went to the orthopedic he said it was from my car accident. I work two jobs at 40 yo. This gonna be a challenge. How long was the pain? When did you return back to work? And how long did it take to drive again? I’m frantic….Tell me your experience
@@angelamills72 I had my right shoulder replaced on Feb. 13th...I can do pretty much anything except for strength in my rt arm...I just started strengh training last week. Pain has subsided. I started PT after about 30 days after surgery. You have to stay up on your pain and as you progress you can go to OTC drugs to manage any discomforts. I can truly say that the first 5 days are the toughest and after that its work but well worth being out of pain and my arm can move freely.
May 21, 2024😢🥴😵💫😵💫🥺😯😖that first & second night I thought my pain was transported from outter space😢it was unbelievable 😳 still experiencing pain not as bad. Your arm won't allow you to more than it can regardless what your mind is saying 😂😂Good Luck🎉❤ you'll hate the immobilizer😂but it helps and is needed 😉
Thank You for confirmation. You feel that you have very little control and must depend on other's. This too will pass in time and is motivation to add extra exercise. From 20 to 25 etc I'm up to 30😊
I just had my second total shoulder reconstruction and rotator cuff repair. Had both of them done in under 8 months. Nicest thing Ive ever done for myself as an adult. I'm a new person it's changed and took 25 years off my life.
@@rotatorcuffexpert thanks it wasn't a big decision. I was tired of all the cortisone shots sick of not being able to go fishing, found a great doctor we both were on the same page and it's been wonderful. Yes I had some pain and had several weeks of physical therapy but that's minor. I have both arms back they feel great and no more pain or shots anymore. I sleep great my surgery increased my standard of living, and quality of life. Boy medicine certainly has come a long way since we were kids.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I have had RA my entire adult life. I ended up up having left reverse surgery due to the pain that all of a sudden came to the left shoulder. Prior surgery I was able to lift my left arm all the way up with no problem. I thought I was gonna have to do the right shoulder first. I am now 3 1/2 months post surgery had a severe RA flareup for about three weeks and could hardly function at all, and therefore limited PT exercise at home. I’m fairly diligent about doing exercises because I’ve had other joint replacement and I know the results and I know the importance of exercise. At this point, I cannot wash my hair bring my arm all the way up or do anything on my face or head, style or fix hair. I’ve changed Physical Therapy offices and feel that my new PT is great because she worked in a hospital and has a great background and as you know working in hospital see everything more so then. I would love it if you could list some exercises so I can get over this hump and finally get some normal. I asked my rheumatologist for an order to get an x-ray because sometimes when I pick something up off the ground, I feel a pinching and tightness at the very top of the shoulder . my frustration level is high simply because my muscles are so weak and I can’t turn my arm out when my elbows were in at my side. I hope you read this and I hope you can give some suggestions. I appreciate anything and everything you can provide.

I have rotator cuff surgery 6 weeks ago. I received an ice machine and was sent home already attached. I have it on continuously for 4 days. The nerve block i received prior to surgery lasted 72 hours. This combination worked really well ,very little pain. I took ibuprofen during the day ( for breakthrough pain) and oxycodone at night (mainly to help relax while sleeping in the recliner). I did this regimen for about 10 days. At 6 weeks, Im still wearing the sling. More discomfort than pain as the nerves are re-engaging. All in all, MD states i am where he expected me to be ( barely moving but moving)
Thank you for your videos! I had my right shoulder repaired for a supraspinatus full thickness tear and a full avulsion of the infraspinatus on 7/5/23 and your videos helped me prepare for the surgery, the post-surgical care and especially the "what can go wrong" risks. I was 64 at the time of surgery still riding my road bike and doing strength training and my surgeon told me that provided a much better matrix of muscle tissue with which to work in the repair sites. I was still amazed to find so much strength and mass were lost during the first 8 weeks of splinted care. Now, over a year later, I'm back to my full ROM and happily doing my strength training with the right arm back to full strength.
I had a supraspinatus full thickness tear (and more) too. Just had my surgery a week ago. Your story is helpful and inspiring and the video was quite helpful, too.
If I could give your videos 10 likes, I gladly would! Thank you so much for spending the time and explaining things, that most surgeons do not have time to explain. After skiing for 40 years everywhere, someone ran into me full speed on a small hill in Ohio 4 days ago. That dislocated my shoulder and fractured greater tuberosity of right humerus. Talked to the surgeon today and did not even know the right questions to ask since I was lucky enough to stay out of ER all my life. Surgery is scheduled in 4 days and I was clueless what to expect. Your obvious compassion and knowledge are a true godsent!

Thank you for this video! I'm nearly 3 weeks out from my surgery SAD/DCE, biceps tendonesis, debridement and manipulation for frozen shoulder. Your comments on comparison were just what I needed. I've been searching around every day for more info. I didn't realize going into this surgery how much pain and recovery I'd need. I thought I'd be one of those back to work in 1-2 weeks. Im still in pain, and my elbow still hurts too. I have a desk job, but its constant, fast-paced computer work in a high stress environment. I feel badly I misjudged and will be out at least 2 months, per my doctor now. Thanks again for this video.
I just had a SLAP tear surgery with bicep tenodesis. It's been almost three weeks, my surgeon told me I don't need to wear my immobilizer anymore so I'm moving my shoulder more, but I still can't lift my arm very high. But I feel good about my recovery.
@@rotatorcuffexpert I'm doing alright, two weeks in and almost no pain anymore. Tomorrow I start physio. I had a subacromial decompression + bursectomy + SLAP type 2 repair + distal clavicle excision. Thank you for asking!
What I like about this is it is clear and to the point, and all true! I’ve had two knee replacements and a hip replacement, and will, most likely have a reverse shoulder replacement next year. I wish I had seen this before my first surgery; I never had known such pain!

12 days post op Rotator Cuff repair here. I have two tips. My Number one tip is if you can afford it, get an adjustable bed platform for your bed that raise your head and feet. They have them that can fit in your existing bed frame or flat on a platform type bed. They work with any mattress. You may be able to rent one. Sleeping in a recliner gets very old very fast. With this, you don't need to sleep in a recliner and you will enjoy it long after you are healed. My Number two tip is to buy or rent an ice machine. It circulates ice cold water into a pad that is designed to be secured to your shoulder. It is a lifesaver when it comes to pain management.
Hey Steve thanks for the tips! I agree with both of them!. Good luck in your recovery. Please consider joining our newsletter. Just email me at dro@mybodyprotector.com and put yes in the subject line and we will get you set up with a few tip sheets as well!
Hi Steve I’m four weeks out of surgery. Right shoulder but my challenge is my left is also out!! Lame!! Agree with your ice machine bought one but returned it as it was just to cumbersome. It’s important to ice!! Good luck 👍🏽 with your recovery!

About to have surgery to repair multiple items ( slap tear, tendon, rotator cuff tear) and I was jumping with joy when I received paperwork that said they’d be sending an ice machine home with me. Had to explain to family that it helps pain a lot and is strongly recommended.

58 yo. Only tweaky pain on occasion. No previous severe pain. Hitting a 9 iron on the range (after a good warm up) and a grenade went off in my left shoulder 6 days ago. MRI shows intermediate to high grade articular surface tearing throughout the infraspinous tendon with full thickness component. Interstitial delaminating tear. Slap lesion. Surgery is in 7 days. Repairing RTC and SLAP lesion. Shaving spur off AC joint. Biceps tenodesis. Appreciate the video. Hoping to be golf ready in 6 months as well as back to the usual gym every morning before work Soooo frustrating. It took a long time to get to where I am after a 3 level laminectomy in 2020
Extremely informative vids, doc, thnx a million ! I have week 1 of rotator cuff repair behind me. Not a lot of doctors like to give information. I even chose another surgeon, because the initial one refused to explain how exactly he was going to repair the torn tendon. I had to do my own research and fortunately found this channel. Please, keep up the good work, doc !

I have reconstruction tomorrow for a partial thickness (80%) tear of the supraspinatus. Not looking forward to the recovery, but I want to have the use of my arm again.
@@SuperHowyalikemenow turns out the tear was only 20% so the surgeon left it alone. He stitched up some labral tears and told me I have no cartilage left on the humeral head. He did a microfracture procedure to stimulate scar tissue to develop over the exposed bone. I was only in a sling for a few days, but my recovery is cloudy going forward. Working on range of motion, which is really good according to my physical therapist, but it hurts. Will do PRP in about 6 weeks 🤞

I have had absolutely no pain since my surgery . I've not had to take any pain medication. I do ice couple times a day. Hey, buddy, I just found your page. Wow, what a Godsend thank you for all your advice being solely focused on the rotator cup. This is my first time injured. I was just injured about a month and a 1/2 ago at work. I've been rehabbing, the pain didn't go away, MRI came in, torn, 3.5cm suprasp, 3.0cm infrasp, tear in labrum, and Bicep tendinitis, no atrophy or fluid...I have a good range of motion but I have a pretty serious condition. I don't know, I been referred to the surgeon's office this coming week. I'll continue to check out your videos. Trying to do my homework to be as ready as possible when I see the Doctor, it a WC.. Hello. I learned a lot from your video and look forward to watching your others. I'm scheduled for rotator cuff surgery next week. I fell 6 months ago which caused the injury which also broke my wrist. I had surgery on my wrist 3 weeks after the fall where the surgeon used a plate and 8 screws to repair. That is fine but my shoulder continued to hurt w/o them doing anything but x-rays. Nothing broken. Finally had an MRI 3 weeks ago and the damage reads like this...Near complete to complete tear of the distal supraspinatus tendon, Complete tear of the distal subscapularis tendon with associated medial dislocation of the long head biceps tendon. Also small to moderate amount of fluid about the glenohumeral joint and subacromial-subdeltoid bursae.....also mild infraspinatus tendinosis, mild to moderate fatty atrophy of the subcapularis muscle. The same surgeon will do this surgery. My concern is he didn't seem to think this was so bad, but I know he see this alot. To me, this seems huge and I wonder if after all this time , I will heal completely and have better ROM. Thanks for your help.

I had full joint replacement January 2. Couldn’t take sleeping in recliner any longer than 10 days. Couldn’t take any more Percocet than that either….severe constipation. I’m a side sleeper and never move all night while resting my operation arm on my side without pain.

Hi David, I suffered the same challenges after my reverse replacement 2 weeks ago. Fortunately I have an adjustable bed and got a pregnancy pillow. Could then sleep on my opposite side and prop my arm with another pillow. Sleep! Also was able to manage pain during the day with Tylenol+ice and only needed narcotics to sleep, which lessens the constipation. I think the antibiotics also contributed to constipation and bloating. Hopefully by now you are well along with full recovery.
Thanks so much for your dedication to those of us who need this info. Question: How does the surgeon determine whether the tendonesis is necessary? I'm going in for repair, but the BT isn't torn. I defer to clinical judgement on presentation....still, I am curious. Thank you!
chickboomcrash, It all depends on the biceps, if it significantly torn or the labrum is torn most likely a biceps tenodesis would be performed. Thanks for subscribing! Thanks Doc! Im now 3 weeks post-op from Bicep Tenodosis and sub-scap repair. A few tips which I picked up. For the first couple days I was showering with a leather belt in lieu of a sling - gives support/dries super quick! Put Ice pack on before sling, sling works great to hold it in place right down the middle section. Within 2 weeks I was (side) sleeping all the way through by trying to embrace/hug the sling pillow/arms crossed position when falling asleep.

I’m 6 weeks out from a fall chasing my 1 year old. Full width full thickness supraspinatus tear, partial infraspinatus and subscapularis tears as well as a slap tear and some biceps tenosynovitis. Surgery is tomorrow. I’m suprised how little I hurt now and how much range of motion I have pre-op. I generally have good pain tolerance so hopefully it’s not too bad. I'm having rotator cuff repair surgery 11/26. I'm concerned about the pain and the rehab. I'm scheduled to be off work for 6 weeks. When does rehab usually begin after surgery?
I'm scheduled for rotator cuff surgery because of full tear in my right shoulder. I don't want to lose all muscle tone and strength and am looking for safe core and thigh exercises. So many that I do now are floor, pilates bar and weight exercises. What's recommended following shoulder surgery for those muscles?

This brings back memories...Rotatator repair June 23 with bicep repair and bone spur removal. Sleeping on a wedge pillow helped hugely for the first few weeks, there was no way to sleep flat. Also, start therapy right away. I told my PT, she was just as important as the surgeon. If you don't do PT, the surgery is worthless, the body needs to follow the steps to get to the final result. There was a patient who had both knees replaced at the same time and didn't start PT until 2 months later! He was solid hard like cement...had to go under anesthesia for manipulation! It was so sad to see and hear the man's screams...
First time watching. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise. I had some kind of rotator cuff repair/tear, about 4 weeks ago. The surgeon said my bicep was involved, but that’s all I know. My post surgical pain was off the charts for 2 weeks. At third week, as long as I was fairly still, it was a bit better. Now, at the middle of the 4 weeks, my pain is a bit less. Still though, can only have limited movement. They’re telling me to start physical therapy by next Thursday. I can’t even imagine this. I’m 61, small female with Type1 Osteogenesis Imperfecta. I feel like this bone disease/ collagen disorder, is praying a big role with my recovery and pain. People with OI are very slow to heal and connective tissues are affected. I feel like my doctor isn’t taking these things into consideration. I’m concerned that I’m going to do or not do something that will cause me to lose use of my arm. Not sure what to do.
Hey Christie! Welcome to the channel and thanks for subscribing! I think the most important thing to do is to remind your surgeon and especially your PT about your OI. It is a delicate balance of going slow but also not getting stiff. Please consider joining our newsletter. I’m having my bicep, rotator cuff, and ac joint done. I’ve had 7 surgeries, including a colon resection for cancer, but this coming surgery scares me! I have 10 pain pills, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen. However, someone gave their cold therapy machine to me to use. My surgery is in a few days!

I had my surgery 4 weeks ago. Had 100% range of motion at 1st PT session. Healing great. My ussue is I had the slung off alit during the first 4 weeks and was using the arm because tgere was no pain in doing so. I was then told Im not to use it at all. Should I worry that I re-tore it?
I had a rotator cuff repair in 2015. The pain was tolerable. I refused to take the heavy drug because I didn't like the side effects. The worst for me was PT. It was extremely painful because my arm wouldn't go up. After a few months, I got a cortisone injection which did nothing. My orthopedic decided that I had adhesions and had to have surgery again 6 months later. It worked well. Main thing is, trust your therapist but use your own judgment. Do you therapy at home as prescribed.
I wish i found this video 4 months ago. I had shoulder surgery on my super spanatus tear 4 months ago and a still cant lift my arm up over my shoulder. Surgeon said my other 2 tendons (bicep) were aggravated but didnt touch them. I still have a lot of pain when i try to lift my arm up. Worried that I have a slap lesion/tear. Gonna go in and see him. Ugh

I tore my rotator cuff (and a bicep tear) in Sept. And didn't get an MRI until the end of Oct. Having surgery end of Nov. Is that a long wait to get repaired? I took the first available MRI. Why it took so long I don't know 🤷🏼♀️

I had a bad fall that dislocated my shoulder and chipped a bone. Surgery was done a week after the fall. Im ten days post surgery and i haven't had any relief from pain. I have muscle spasms all down my arm and my hand hasn't stopped tingling since the fall. What should ibe asking of my surgeon. I'm seeing him today. BTW. Thank you for posting all this helpful information. I watch them while i am up in the night due to pain.
SLPM77, So sorry to hear about your fall. Often the nerves can be stretched during a dislocation causing that tingling. Make sure you tell your doc about that so they can keep an eye on it to make sure it gets better. Often it take many months to recover. Please consider joining our FB group or join our newsletter. Just email us at dro@mybodyprotector.com and put "yes" in the subject line. We will get you signed up and also give you a couple tip sheets!.

I fell in a parking lot, and landed on my shoulder, dislocating my arm from my collar bone, that was just before Halloween in 2023, they done blocks, and finally got the arm reattached, I also broke a piece off my upper arm, (I have pins in it now), they attached my muscles at the same time. I can reach around fairly well, except for in front of me and above my head, I've been going through P/T for a few months, it's going on May now, and they're finally talking about doing a rotator cuff replacement. (Also there's part of my shoulder bone that's missing...

I am 9 weeks post op from repair of complete rotator cuff rupture, biceps tenodesis, and capsular release. I had impingement surgery 20 years ago. I expected this surgery recovery to be similar. I have a second butt on my bicep area where it seems to be balled up (i was told it’s just going to be a cosmetic issue). The spasms are ridiculous and painful. I’m on week 6 of 12 of PT twice a week. I’m disheartened at how long the recovery is taking. I mean I’m glad I can touch my left ear now but can’t scrub shampoo on my head and forget clasping a bra. I love my ice machine 10/10 suggest!!!! I still use it religiously after PT especially. It’s baby steps and improving, just saying, I had no idea how awful and slow recovery was going to be. Glad it’s fixed though!
I thought the blue was a paw print...... I worked in masonry, Had arthroscopic in December '07 L + '09 R shoulder and my left replaced in Dec 2020. I never needed meds and made sure I did my exercises 3x a day, I had to be ready for the going back to work phone call when the weather got warmer. I learned to shovel with one arm. push the shovel - then lifted the shovel with my foot. My wife ran the snow blower and I moved the chute after the first surgery. Hamburg, NY
Mine is coming up on the 30th. NHL surgeon will perform the operation. It will be my second by such a surgeon (different body part)Here’s hoping I get the same care and attention as the Jillion dollar players do!!

I had labrum repair and tenodesis done 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately I ended up in the hospital 6 days due to pneumonia from aspirated blood into the lungs from a lacerated throat when intubating. While in the hospital I had to remove the wrist from the immobilizer to lower my PJs to use the restroom and felt a pop and my arm went numb. The surgeon saw me 10 days after the surgery and noticed a Popeye arm and when I explained what happened he said the tenodesis was now a tenotomy. He says it won't affect my recovery. He ordered an aggressive rehab program because I had frozen shoulder before the surgery and he wants to avoid that from happening again. I have been having a very sharp pain under the armpit that goes down the arm all the way to my fingers. It also goes to my chest and scapula. I have no strength to even do the wall walk or lift the arm with the assistance of my good arm with the pulley. When assisted by the therapist they can move it almost to head level while lying down but it feels really weird. I had surgery on my other shoulder 3 years ago and recovered really fast and well. Im worried something else might have been ruined but doctor is on vacation till next week and so are therapists. I'm going to try to do some exercises I found online on my own. Do you think I might have hurt something else. I can reach for wallet and move forearm to do regular daily things but can't lift the arm at all.
David, So sorry for your complicated recovery. It is hard to say if something else happened. This is a really tough spot to be in. Give it some time as your still in early recovery. Hopefully your doctor can evaluate your shoulder more closely at your next visit.
It dosen't always end well. I exploded my shoulder in my dominant arm. I went through three surgical procedures, nothing worked. So they ended up doing a complete reverse shoulder replacement. A year later and my arm only functions at 25% at best. I now have a full thickness tear in my other shoulder. I went back to the surgeon that did my replacement procedure. Choosing the right surgeon is everything. I feel if I would have had my last surgeon who did my last two procedures. I think things could have possibly turned out differently. But he told me that the tear in my left shoulder. Is nothing like what happened with my right shoulder. He assured me that my left shoulder is completely fixable. Best of luck to everyone out there getting ready for a shoulder surgery. Everyone on here is correct, take your pain medicine as directed. I like most people here have had surgical procedures before. Nothing can prepare you for the pain of a rotator cuff surgery. But none of the three rotator cuff surgeries I had. Prepared me for the pain of the complete reverse shoulder replacement. It's no joke, the absolute worst pain I've ever had before. The only thing that comes close to it is tooth pain.
I am 57 year old active male with a SLAP tear and some bicep tendinitis in my right shoulder. It was dislocated in high school football 40 years ago and I have done PT for probably 30 years ...with some relief. Age has pushed me to have it taken care of ...March 7th, 2024. Any tips, thoughts or feedback appreciated. Paul in Toronto

Sleeping in bed with the sling was hell. I started seeing things that weren't there because of lack of sleep. Painkillers, ice and something to set me off sleeping helped. Initial physio was a walk in the park : passive exercises. Once I could lose the sling, things felt waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. Sometimes it felt as if there was nothing wrong with my shoulder. But then physio shifted gear regularly and every time I was fairly painless for a while and I had to exercise more strength the pain was back. Frustrating, but logic according to therapist : I have to keep pushing tendons and muscles harder every next time. Estimation : little under six months more physio. Sleeping without the sling is risky, I feel. On occasion I have made bad moves in my sleep that caused a lot of pain. Without damage, but it always takes a few days to wane off.
Scribble over the marker you want to remove with the dry erase marker. before it can dry wipe it off with a clean towel. Do a small area forst so you can see it works.

Draw over top of the perm marker with a dry erase marker. It will, then will wipe right off, as if it were a dry erase.
Yes. This works!
thanks everyone, I used acetone...came right off
Acetone is, hands down, the go-to solvent for products like markers.
@@rotatorcuffexpertacetone also takes the surface of the whiteboard. Over time it will become dirty.
Thanks beth for that. Sounds like you have a good surgeon too! Please let us know how you are doing in your recovery!
I’d rather give birth to an elephant than do this surgery again
My doctor would only give me 5 hydrocodone pills. I asked for 5 more he said no 😢
I had a labrum surgery two months ago and one thing i stuffer from is comparing myself to others , i don’t have my full rage of motion like others do . watching this video helped me that everyone recovery progress is different
Yktv, Glad we could help. Yes everyone is different and heals at different speeds. Good luck in your recovery
@@rotatorcuffexpert Additionally, no two surgeries are ever going to be identical. There will always be differences of some kind - location, additional unseen issues until the surgeon is in there, more/less damage than anticipated, other health issues that can impact everything, etc.
How have you been after 6 months?
I am almost one year out from my surgery. I don't remember the names of everything but I had two complete tendon tears, the bicep tenodesis and they shaved down the acromion . I am a 64 yo male. My journey with shoulder issues started with a MVA in February of 2017 and after a series of unfortunate events found myself in terrible condition and pain. Everything you have described in this video has been my exact experience. I am so glad I found your videos a year ago, they were a tremendous help to get me back to what I would guess is about 95% today. Thank you so much!
Hey Steve, thanks so much for your kind words! Glad you are doing well.
Michael, thanks for the comment. I am glad you didn't have any pain after surgery. I think the ice machine is a great thing especially early.
I'm a PTA in an OP clinic. I am constantly studying and learning. We recently had a pt retear her RC. I've been doing some research on the potential reasons why this happened and found your channel. Great content! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

That is awesome Todd. So glad you are doing well!
I am glad you are doing well.
You use rubbing alcohol. Done.

@@the_queenmockyb what are your symptoms & how did it happen?
@panoplyimaging, Thanks for the kind words. So glad your surgery and recovery were successful! Love your channel too, btw!

I am glad you are progressing well!

Mine is Oct 30th...can't wait to have it and start recovery.@pennysmovingart5478

How are you? I had mine this morning and I’m suffering badly
I have reconstruction tomorrow for a partial thickness (80%) tear of the supraspinatus. Not looking forward to the recovery, but I want to have the use of my arm again.
Please follow up! How are you now?
@@SuperHowyalikemenow turns out the tear was only 20% so the surgeon left it alone. He stitched up some labral tears and told me I have no cartilage left on the humeral head. He did a microfracture procedure to stimulate scar tissue to develop over the exposed bone. I was only in a sling for a few days, but my recovery is cloudy going forward. Working on range of motion, which is really good according to my physical therapist, but it hurts. Will do PRP in about 6 weeks 🤞
I had laterjet surgery a little more than a month ago and these are great tips for recovery. I have zero external rotation from surgery but I keep reminding myself to take it one day at a time and don’t push to hard

I just had Rotator cuff repair, Subacromial Decompression/Bursectomy, Biceps Tenodesis, Distal Clavicle Resection, Debridement and Labrum Slap tear repair done on July 22 2024. I have had absolutely no pain since my surgery . I've not had to take any pain medication. I do ice couple times a day. I'm so grateful I've had no problems, because I've heard it is the worst shoulder surgery to have.
@melissapainter390 wow! that is awesome an amazing. So glad this has been easier for you than most! Good luck on your recovery. Let us know how you are doing.
@rotatorcuffexpert saw the surgeon on Aug 5th. Said I had a large tear, tore it off the bone. Still in my sling till at least Sept 5th when i go back and see him. Hopefully get it off then and start Physical Therapy. Still haven't had any pain at all.
And there see what our next course of action will be. Again brother really appreciate you have a great rest your day.

Dec ‘23 I tripped & dislocated my shoulder, at that time I had a 2 cm tear, but last weeks MRI shows it’s 3.3 cm now. I’m scheduled for rotator cuff surgery in 2 weeks. The MRI said nothing looks like it’s died off, so I pray everything goes smoothly & I should be moving my arm around within 24 hours. I’ve been doing PT this whole time so that has helped a lot with my mobility.

Meow, I am glad we could help. How long has it been since your surgery?
I had full joint replacement January 2. Couldn’t take sleeping in recliner any longer than 10 days. Couldn’t take any more Percocet than that either….severe constipation. I’m a side sleeper and never move all night while resting my operation arm on my side without pain.
David, it is tough for a side sleeper after these surgeries. Wedges, recliners, and pillows are often still not enough. Please consider joining our newsletter. Just email me at dro@mybodyprotector.com and put yes in the subject line and we will get you set up with a few tip sheets as well! Also cool cars on your channel!
Just had this, take the meds guys and it is completely fine. Had minimal pain

@@rotatorcuffexpert thanks Doc!
Out of curiosity, in your experience, are there any tendencies of someone who had Bicep Tenodesis, requiring it for their other arm later down the track? 🤔
Hey Marcussr20, not typically. Maybe 50/50?
how did you tear your sub-scap? what were your symptoms?

Next ultrasound confirmed dislocated bicep tendon, MRI then confirmed bicep tendon slicing into subscapularis.
The only way to get permanent marker. Off a temporary marker Bored is to use. Nail polish Remover. I am getting a reverse shoulder replacement.I just wanted to make sure I didn't do the same mistakes you're talking about. Thanks for the input.Hope the nail polish removal work

You can actually use a dry erase marker and draw completely over the permanent sharpie/marker and then wipe it right off. By doing so it will completely remove the permanent marker.
Upcoming surgery. Great info
Good luck! Pls let us know how you are doing
I had rotator cuff 7 weeks and lower back surgery 8 months prior (l4/l5 with disc replacement and a cage) and the rotator surgery seems a LOT more painful!!!! My other shoulder needs surgery also, I'm not doing it unless I ABSOLUTELY HAVE to!!!! The constant pain, depression, sleepless nights with pain has been relentless!!!!

Nearly 2 weeks post my 2nd subacromial decompression surgery and I've got so much pain still. I also have grade 4 chondral loss in which I need shoulder replacement but I can't because I'm too young 😢
Use iPA to remove the sharpie. Not sure on a white board but works on most things I have found. Worse case WD-40.
For reference I recently had a 5mm obstructing kidney stone and COVID at the same time and worked 4 12 hour ER shifts with nothing more then a single shot of toradol and a couple doses of ibuprofen.

Surgery scheduled Dec.2 2024. Super nervous. Ive had a hysterectomy, tonsillectomy, and 2 kids naturally and 2 kids w epidural .. only things I can compare pain😂 super curious how this is going to be😬

Hi Shari, thanks for the comment. PT is important for sure!
Excellent content! Keep up the great work! Many Thx!
Thanks Dean! Hope you are recovering well.
Spot on with everything !! Great advice and guidance!!! Thank you!
Thanks Frank, Have you had surgery recently?
Maria, Thanks for the comment and thanks for subscribing! You give good advice. I love "trust your therapist but use your own judgement".

How are you doing after your surgery?. Do you have any questions?
How many anchors are usually used for a full supraspinatus tear with bicep tendenesis?
Use alcohol to get the sharpie off, or drawn over it with dry erase maker.
Will your bicep look normal after bicep tenodesis or will you still be able to see a lil deformity
You can remove permanent marker from your white board by scrubbing the line with Dry Erase marker !!!
