I had it done. Best thing I could've done. So glad I did it. No more pain that was my constant companion for several years. Good luck you'll be fine.

4:03 Had mine August 7, 2023. Experienced a lot of pain. Just now able to sleep in my bed. Had to sleep in a recliner. Wish my physician had explained the procedure and what to expect. Because I was left in the dark about the procedure and how much pain I would experience, I thought the surgery was a failure. So not only did I have physical pain, I was stressed out. My follow up with the surgeon is September 18.Too long! Lesson learned: Always ask your physician details about the surgery, recovery and post op physical therapy.

I dread my reverse shoulder replacement surgery as well. I’ve had 2 rotator cuff surgeries that have failed. Rotator cuff surgery was painful enough. My Dr, has explained the surgery & he even had a video on UA-cam that I watched. This will be my 15th surgery on my body, & I’m 67. I’m all for it if it will help alleviate my shoulder pain. I want to be able to sleep on either shoulder after full recovery, & do more activities.

My surgeon said I won't be able to lift my arm past shoulder height. I will be able to put my hand on top of my head to wash my hair. I can never lift more than 20 pounds if even that. I might still have some pain. I take Vicodin 7.5 mg 5 times a day. I was taking 5mg 4 times a day because of severe SI joint pain. So I am not taking that much more pain med. My shoulder hurts 24/7. My pain goes down my arm into my hand. But I can raise my arm up above my head even if it hurts. I can't lift more than 5 lbs over my head but I can lift 40-50 pounds off the ground to my waist. They basically want me to have this surgery to reduce my pain meds.
The heck with that. No way. They won't even let you talk with other patients who had the surgery.
I choose pain meds and full range of motion. Even though I will never get a full nights sleep again.

I have had 7 surgeries on my right shoulder including a partial shoulder replacement due to multiple fractures of the humerus and necrosis. Now I am going to have a reverse shoulder replacement since it has always hurt a lot, I am thinking about it because it scares me since my 7 previous surgeries have been very painful but i think i need it because the pain i have, i had the shoulder replacement in 2006

My ortho told me that my therapy would begin the day after surgery and I was shocked. I chickened out and cancelled, which I now regret. Is that because it’s not a reverse? My sister just had her second reverse shoulder replacement and did amazingly, so I’m going to see him for a second opinion. Her therapy started weeks after her surgery. Why such a difference? I don’t know what to do.

Doesn't mention restricted range of motion, which affects dressing, clasping bra. Important to know.

My surgery wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and this was the 8th surgery on it. I had to have a reversal replacement surgery due to a car wreck. They put a block in my shoulder when surgery was done. I'm not going to tell you that it won't hurt afterwards! The big pain went away in about a week. I had surgery on a Tuesday and then therapy on that Friday. Do what they tell you to do and don't rush it! The third week all I needed for pain was Tylenol. Everyone is different. Prayers for you on your surgery and recovery.🙏🙏

I will have shoulder replacement in 3 months. I am so scared. I am a 54 years old woman. Please help me to let me know how was it

@@thuanho744 I had turned 51 one month before my surgery. It will differ from each person. They had to take my replacement out, shaved the dislocated part and put it back in. I no longer have a rotator cuff. But it was no longer good because of 7 previous surgeries. This surgery was due to a car wreck that dislocated it so bad that it had to be surgericaly put back in. It will be somewhat rough about the first 2 weeks. They will put you in physical therapy right after the surgery. Do what they say to do and it will get better. Please tell them if your shoulder doesn't feel right. Don't hurry through it because it could set you back. Prayers for you and a great recovery! 🙏💯
