In France there's also the Saint-Louis-Arzviller "inclined plane" (as these things are called): ua-cam.com/video/XddWCvSfuGg/v-deo.html In Britain there are the Anderton Boat Lift and the Falkirk Wheel: ua-cam.com/video/Lm8_EN-PzlA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/DxKWSQDeA78/v-deo.html There are probably more contraptions I don't know about. All the three above lift the boats while afloat in large tubs. While this may appear to add complication, the beauty is that (by way of Archimedes) the tubs weigh exactly the same irrespective of content, and thus the whole contraption can be perfectly balanced by counterweights and operated with minimal power. The Falkirk Wheel carries a combined load (both tubs) of 500 tons, but needs only 30hp to rotate.
It's strange you have south, central and north America . Basically its like saying people from Europe are all from the same country , but people call people from the US Americans . Well we are actually United Statesman !
Wouldn't it have been cheaper to simply cut a channel between the lakes & a bridge for traffic? An engineering marvel to be sure, kudos to the salesman that sold them on the idea.
We love this thing. Thank you for sharing it. Summer road trip for sure.
Amazing - so much fun!! 😊
So cool Lovin’ Life
i ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT THIS PART OF THE TRIP! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!!
That is oh so cool. I have never seen anything like this. Happy boating!
So glad you are enjoying the best fresh water boating in the world.
It's a cool system....Been on it before with my old 29ft Sea Ray.... Thanks for the video guys
I have never heard of this. A land ferry for boats.
Thanks for the video it's something I've never seen or heard of, cool
This is my first time watching one of your videos. OMG! How I envy you. 😊😵💫😊❤️👍👍
Thanks for watching! We are so blessed 🙏
We were there in August while revisiting our old home in Ontario. They were quite busy on the day we got there.
It looks scary
kool place
Very cool , thank you for videoing it, nice looking boat , is that a mainship
Thanks! It’s a 37 Backcove Yacht
youd think history or discovery channel would have shown this to us USA'ns by now
you never forget your first time. No matter how many times I have done it
How much for the lift?
Did prop shaft get bent while in contact with the deck?
No, we had a few inches before it would’ve touched
Is there a similar device in Europe 🌍 ?
Elblag canal in Poland has rail lifts, but I think it's only usable with specific trip boats, rather than boat owner's own boats.

Boating was so much better before wave runners
I live in Texas and some lakes ban them on holidays...... They can be a nuisance..
Cry more karen.

Gee I thought Canada was part of North America !

Hmm, perhaps you didn’t notice the elevation change. This is a functional and much cheaper option than creating a lock.
And this is much more exciting!
By the way, very nice boat !

In fact I didn't notice the elevation difference or I wouldn't have made that suggestion.
