    When I was a kid I would fish with earth worms for anything. Caught plenty of bass. But when I got back into fishing a couple years ago I decided to target bass specifically. So i dive into learning how pros target them. You and Glenn may taught me how to rig and fish a Texas rig. That is the rig that I caught my first bass when targeting them. Now i never go out without one tied on. And it's all thanks to you and Glenn may.

    Caught my PB yesterday on a medium Gloomis GL3 6' rod with 10lb Vanish floro, Black blue Blazin worm from Googan and 3/0 EWG hook. It was the best day i had in a while, especially for someone who never caugh anything over 1lb bass. This bad boy was 4lbs... Hook set was snappy straight up. I figure i should share what i did because it looks like there is alike a thousand ways to get things done nowadays. Only issue i am still having with other bites is the hookset, but i am getting better! Thank you FLukemaster, been watching your vids religiously and i used your twitch method on that worm... Cheers

    I learned how to rig and fish a texas rig from one of your older videos on it. I was out all day Monday fishing and was bout to get skunked. At dusk I tied up my first texas rig with a bandito bug Jr in tye california craw color. 3 or 4 cast with it and got a smallmouth, she was a little girl but she was something. Just wanna say I appreciate all the knowledge you share, tight lines and stay safe!

    Texas rig was the first real lure I learned how to fish. I was fishing bait hooks with live worms and catching nothing but bluegills. After catching my first bass on a Texas rig, I always have a Texas rig on at least one rod when I go fishing. My Texas rig rod catches 80% of my baits. My square bill rods catch the other 20%. I’ve only caught two bass on a jig and I’ve had no luck on flukes, spinner baits or crank baits so Texas rig is what I fish to fínese the bass from hiding. I love the Texas rig so much.

    Great video. Seaguar basix is a good line for beginners. I fish from the bank and I use it on my treble hook baits for my 10 & 12lb line presentations. Can be found on sale for $6-7. When trying to throw banks with unorthodox casts under and around trees, hurts a lot less when having to cut out a bird nest happens from from tree snags. I use red label and basix interchangeably. I don’t really notice a difference

      Never overhand cast when trees hand side arm cast. Even when you do have clearance for the reason less splash an getting lure or soft plastic in the water

    • @joegrande4848
      @joegrande4848 Рік тому

      When trees hang I mean never over hand cast. Generally good to side arm cast. If you have plenty of clearance it will help with distance. Also if you have tree branches hang practice under hand roll cast make a circular motion with fishing pole with line hand just a few inches from rod tip.

      @@joegrande4848 thank you for the tips. A lot of my issues happen when I’m standing between two trees about 2/3 feet wider than shoulder width with which waist high bushes in front of me. I’ve been trying to find spots people won’t walk to around the lake I fish in.

    Hey man I love your videos! I had a question that I hope someone can answer. I started bass fishing about a year ago, I would say my favorite thing would be using a plastic worm or just plastics at my lake. I usually just use a Texas rig with yamamoto black and blue flake 5" worm and a pegged bullet weight. My question is I will throw out let it sink to the bottom every 5 to 30 seconds pull up real My slack in and I can usually feel some form of weeds. I will hold my line somewhat tight let it sit and maybe 5 10 seconds later it feels like it drops and my line isn't that tight anymore and goes to a bow, curious to know if that could be a bite or a bass that took it towards me. It doesn't happen all the time just sometimes. I don't see much movement besides not feeling the tight line anymore and feels like ghe worm dropped and then I see a bow in my line. Thank you for anyone to respond to this.

    Have you ever been attacked by an owl fishing at night time? Last night I was at stewarts Creek boat ramp on Percy priest lake. That is where I saw your boat about a month or two ago when you were studying the lake for the kayak tournament. I was fishing off of the little floating dock next to the boat ramp with a white jerkbait and an owl landed on the handrail of the dock about 10 ft from me it was white and black. I watched the owl the whole time but as soon as I turned my back on it that thing went for my jerk bait on my pole and I had to hit it with my rod. Crazy as heck

      Something bold and something natural. If I were you, I'd go with either black & (insert color) flake, or junebug for my bold color, and either green pumpkin (insert color here) flake or watermelon (insert color here) flake for my natural. I have caught fish from coast to coast and from the Canadian to Mexican borders on black and blue flake, and green pumpkin black flake, most of the time I don't really bother with other colors these days

      Clear water - green pumpkin, watermelon, cotton candy (Zoom)
      Stained water - black/blue flake, plum/purples
      Test out different reds, purples, and pinks. I’ve noticed in heavily pressured lakes I catch quite a lot of fish on those colors in clear, muddy, and stained water. I’m in Illinois and have regular success even in tough conditions (because of Gene)
